Nigeria is certainly lagging behind and should be doing a lot better in.many areas.

But some of the countries people are quick to compare Nigeria with have more than 300-year headstart over Nigeria.

Comparison is good, but we also have to be realistic.

I hate this phrase, oya check our mates Malaysia and Dubai make we no de encourage rubbish for this country

NIGERIA is backward at the age of 63 no foundation of anything meaningful,if it continues like this do u think we can develop even in the next 1000years

Development has to do with WILL and not number of years

Today, the pace of change is so fast, and the first movers ie Western countries and now some Asian countries are so far ahead, I don't know how African countries will catch up. The world system, including globalisation, is also not in our favour.

Egypt is struggling badly. South Africa has not progressed much economically. Ghana is on its knees. Most African countries are basket cases.

These days, the more I look at the world in my private moments, the more I fear we may never catch up with the most successful/developed countries in the world.

Our systems and our minset as a people are far removed from what they need to be for us to develop, let alone catch up.

Our population is growing too fast, faster than our economy, which means the country can't even maintain the status quo in terms of standard of living, let alone improving it. Too many of our people are not being educated. Those who think they're educated did not receive the right education.

We have simply not set ourselves up to compete.

Makes me sweat when I think about all these things, as I desperately want the best for the tens of millions of struggling people who needs and deserves better.

But Tinubu told Nigerians in 2015 that only buhari had the ability to take nigeria where it ought to be.

Are you saying buhari failed in that responsibility and that Tinubu lied to Nigerians?

Can you attach a link where Tinubu said so too? Oga go rest, election don finish or get a visa and move out of Nigeria grin

Ever since the Bolshevik of Russia, toppled the tsar in 1917 , Russia transform from one of the poorest country to world super power, during this period her first leadership under Lenin introduce a Communist system of government, the state conscripted private property of individuals, into a single units, this policy had it own advantage, and disadvantages, but rapidly made Russian what it is today, after Lenin death, Stalin emerge, he introduced a policy of "individual collectively" according to Stalin, he believed that for Russian to catch up with the west, Russian need to engage in massive industrialization, this policy was brutal which laid to mass shooting of anyone opposed Stalin, but within 5 years Russian became a massive industrialization country up to this period, most Russia leaders are brutal, but love their people whole hearted, while Africa leaders are brutal and the same hate their people. The differences is very clear.

Let me tell a story about the Efiks (Calabar) and the ibibios (Akwa Ibom)
It happened that when the Europeans landed , they resided in Old calabar and administered from there. Good school like Hope Waddel sec sch was built ( Azikiwe went there). But there was also informal education by proxy, for those that served the Europeans.
The Efiks, who were indigenous, kings, princes and princesses refused to work for the Europeans. They saw it as being subservient.
They would rather have the Ibibio kids go to do those work.
That proximity turned out to be blessing in disguise. The Europeans taught them the Western way of life. They got better education and some were even sent abroad on scholarships.
Today. the ibibios are standing firm and waxing strong.

Skyscrapers aren't used primarily for beautifying anywhere. They are built primarily to solve accomodation problems due to scarcity of land.
