Looks like this is inside an Aldi in Chicago, a place that monikers say don’t have shelves.
ALDI wey open for US since 1976. He probably thinks ALDI opened a store only recently. grin

Stop lying! When were you in Chicago that ALDI was on the floor for you? Do you even know that there are regulations in most every state as far as how stores can stock and arrange merchandise for customers? Why the lies abeg! undecided
its the truth. Or maybe it was because of the area. The Aldi was in a bad area called uptown . Lots of junkies in that area. So maybe they didn’t bother to posh it up cuz the area was decaying . Mind you two streets away in that decaying area were half a million dollar houses

Now you can see how you're stupid right? $300 for goat, that money will buy two cows in Nigeria. But then you chose to compare

The better question is, how long will it take you to earn on average $300 doing similar kind of job/profession in the US vs it’s Naira equivalent in Nigeria?

To help you out, let’s take an example of someone working in Dominos Pizza in the US vs another working in Dominos Pizza in Lagos.

I will do a rough Justice of the US case, which is about $10/hr, which means they will earn $300 in less than a week.

$300 is almost like N220k in 9ja depending on the exchange rate that you use….so, you go….how long will it take a Dominos Puzza Employee in Lagos to earn N220k?

Yum. How long did the deliciousness last you before you had to re-up?
A farm in America that a moniker said Nigeria is unhygienic while everywhere in Naija is spotless.
I did not even finish it. Once it's more than 4 months in my freezer, I throw it away. Made some pepper soup, asun (peppered roasted beaf) e.t.c while it lasted.

I actually happen to know that very ALDI you speak of. The one right under the L line--- Brown and purple and maybe red line ----, just in front of the community college, and right across from a Target store. And I know for a fact it was not a bend down boutique. undecided

Store address is 4500 N Broadway. Ask anyone if it is a bend down boutique and they will tell you you lie. undecided

Also, please say one thing that us Nigerians in the US will back you up on—-it’s illegal for your employer to withhold your pay and give you excuses. From the most basic job all the way up, employees are paid on schedule.
I love when a new relative or family friend comes to the US and realizes that they’ll be given no excuses or have their pay withheld for silly reasons. I love seeing them treated with dignity by their supervisors.

I don't believe this story. If there is anything thing cheap in UK it is food except those imported from Africa. Chicken and chips that we see as special is like pure water, uncooked/raw rice that can last one person a week not even up to 10pounds. If you buy African soup that can last you a week it can cost as much as £20-£25, uncooked/raw intestine that we see as almighty thing is something they sell cheap. Food is not their problem

There's a little sauce, but it's just curry. If I want beef, I'll pay about $50

Every time yet another Nigerian enters this thread and respectfully tells the truth, I smile more and more.
In the cooking thread that I love so much, I don’t hear talk of food being too expensive to buy.

Does Nigeria and US has the same economy? Are you paying the same amount in rent in lekki and New York? You people reek of ignorance. $300 might be enough to see to your food bills for 6 months in Nigeria but barely enough for me to eat for a ten days here, unless I chose to cook

But in my opinion…

It’s food is still expensive though compared to Nigeria.

At between $8/15 do the maths/conversion to #!

But I guess they earn more. But I think food should be one of the cheapest things to get especially in a country like the U.S where technology and stuff should play a big role in agriculture…

There are ways to eat cheap if you don’t have the means.

Food banks, dollar stores,

Food is cheaper in Nigeria than anywhere else in the world. We both know this. But there's this urge in us to always commend whatever it is we see in the west even if it's ridiculous. That is coming from a place of inferiority complex, and it's fine. We're all slave to these people so we need to defend them. But then let's choose to be sensible. I'll buy #3k worth of meat in Nigeria and eat it for days with family, but can you buy £10 worth of meat in the UK and it'll last that long?

If you're eating their unhealthy food, it's cheap, but still expensive when you compare it with their value u get from it

ALDI on Broadway happened to be the closest to me at the time. There are only 33 ALDI locations even today in all of Chicago, so you drive to the one closest. That particular store on Broadway happened to be one of our closest especially on the way to the African stores which also happen to be on Broadway. undecided
