Quick question My Ogas.

I want to make a scenario,

Let's say Main applicant got sponsorship and dependant is under MA, few years in like 2 years, the dependant too got sponsorship.
If the main applicant decides to switch to dependants sponsorship.

Does the 2 years they've used under main applicant gets nullified (stop counting) if MA switches or it doesn't matter?

I believe the additional costs is a main challenge. I hear it costs anywhere from £5k and above in fees.
No it's around 1,099 for one year - 2,555 max for 5 years.

License application fee - £536
Certificate issuance - £199
Immigration Skills Surcharge - £364 per year

I agree with what someone said that it's a matter of sensitisation - most companies think it's a bigger deal than it is.

Mine had to apply for a license just to sponsor me and I made the effort to present it as clearly as possible. Even sent the fees and timeline in tabular form to the HR so it was simple as A B C, and it eventually took less than an hour for the whole thing.

Modified: The fees above apply to ' medium or small companies' as defined in the guidance - https://www.gov.uk/uk-visa-sponsorship-employers/apply-for-your-licence. The fees for large companies are higher. Credit to @lolo for calling attention to that.

Nullified. 5 year route counter restarts for both but the time spent can still be counted toward 10 year route.

I stand to be corrected sha.

I did a bit of digging as my company sponsors a few people I’m aware of and I’m pretty sure it was given as an excuse when I was hiring a direct report last year and wanted to get them to sponsor the lady. Apparently the costs differs based on company size (medium and larger companies) pay more. If you look at the table, employers can easily fall into the higher bracket. I won’t ordinarily classify my company as medium or even large but our asset base is way more £5m so I guess that’s why we had to pay the higher rates.

You do have a valid point on the sensitization. Sponsoring candidates has its benefits a lot of employers aren’t aware of. Typically the employees are locked in for 5 years so risk of attrition is lower. Also, they can’t be too aggressive in asking for a raise as well. Sadly I’ve also seen this happen with some employers who won’t give a reasonable raise or promotion for this reason. In my case, I eventually went for someone on the Ukrainian visa scheme who was equally as good.

Fair, fair. That's a crucial point I overlooked.

Thanks for pointing it out.

I still think communication is a crucial factor, but I acknowledge that it's easier with a smaller organisation when you can speak to the people involved much more easily.

Just to point out about the locked in part though - the employees are not really locked in. They can leave. What some companies do is have a bond that requires the employee to pay back some of the costs (reducing over time).

Also, regardless of any agreement with the employee, the company gets paid back the unused part of the immigration skills surcharge they paid, so it's still a low financial risk ultimately.

general enquiry, how much do you think someone can save from earning 45k pounds gross in the uk after taxes and all expenses. Just an estimate
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by bigtt76(f): 7:46am On Mar 05, 2023
Depends on where you are based, number of dependents, lifestyle and others. £45k gross is like £3k monthly after tax. You can save at least £1K... My thoughts 😀

if you are in England and on 1257L tax code which is the common one, take home should be about 2800
U’ll pay rent, bills monthly and feed. When all this is removed whatever is left is what you can save. It’s all up to you

Focused simple straightforward commonsense response..........

To add ....... If you have a car on finance + credit card + store card + completing that mansion in Oshogbo + your monthly pocket money to your people back home + pension contributions + investments + life insurance cover ........😜😂🤪

Whatever you have left ....... Do with it, as you desire (if any).........😜😭🤪

Check glassdoor for interview review. Be ready for competencies questions like Tell me about? and ensure you put you answer in STAR(Situation, Task, Action and Result.) format. I personally like to prepare for Reflection answer(STARR) to because that is mostly the next question like what would you have done better? Put your request in google like "Barclays interview for customers service role" All the best
Happy Sunday Ma'am , please I want to ask you few questions on Guernsey . After a successful work permit what type of Visa is required to enter Guernsey . I just want to know this handy because I'm still waiting for my work permit . thank you

Same here o. Are you also using pay as you go? Would like to ask how you manage your electricity usage. I feel my consumption is kinda high as I spend an average of £9/£10 daily. Someone said it’s probably because the house is 100% electricity and no gas. Abeg anyone with useful info on minimising this should also give me hint biko

Thank you to UK government ooooo...

They gave me £69 for Electricity... I woke up and check my smart meter dashboard.. Only to be wondering who mistakenly top my electricity up over the night. Confirmation gotten to me now that it is from UK government.

Turn off all lights when not required, turn on your heater, only when required....... Bunch up washes, to avoid unnecessarily using washing machine, use your hands to wash dishes (not dish washer) etc etc ........

Nothing more you can do .......😁

This amount is above national average which means you aren't doing badly. However, saving is a bit relative as you've got to consider alot of things like rent in terms of area, if you've got dependents & other financing. Well, I believe you should be able to save atleast 1k if you're the only one and with an assumption that your rent and bills is circa 1k. 200 to 300 should be enough for groceries and another 150 for transport. So it's possible but if you've got family with children you might need more sef.

Absolutely no problem, I have traveled to Nigeria with 8days left on my passport and came back with just 2days left. When asked I told the immigration officer that I will renew it when I get to the UK.

Hi, I'm in a similar situation.
Please I'll like to know what year was this and did you use any other passport other than the Nigerian passport at any point?

Thanks a bunch

Yes, I use Smart Meter Pay As You Go

Do you use Electric heaters? They consume light a lot.

I use between £2-£3, I don't use electric heaters

Greetings,
Please is there anyone here who has done Barclays interview for customers service role before ?

I need heads up on what to expect please 🙏.

Thanks as you respond to this

Regardless of the organization, there are some skills and personality traits that are required of a customer service person. Top on the list are empathy, communication skills, patience, etc. The interview will test these.

Think of examples in your own life when you have demonstrated these skills.
