I want to make a scenario,

Let's say Main applicant got sponsorship and dependant is under MA, few years in like 2 years, the dependant too got sponsorship.
If the main applicant decides to switch to dependants sponsorship.

Does the 2 years they've used under main applicant gets nullified (stop counting) if MA switches or it doesn't matter?

Mine had to apply for a license just to sponsor me and I made the effort to present it as clearly as possible. Even sent the fees and timeline in tabular form to the HR so it was simple as A B C, and it eventually took less than an hour for the whole thing.

Nullified. 5 year route counter restarts for both but the time spent can still be counted toward 10 year route.

I won’t ordinarily classify my company as medium or even large but our asset base is way more £5m so I guess that’s why we had to pay the higher rates.

Typically the employees are locked in for 5 years so risk of attrition is lower. Also, they can’t be too aggressive in asking for a raise as well. Sadly I’ve also seen this happen with some employers who won’t give a reasonable raise or promotion for this reason. In my case, I eventually went for someone on the Ukrainian visa scheme who was equally as good.

Fair, fair. That's a crucial point I overlooked.

I still think communication is a crucial factor, but I acknowledge that it's easier with a smaller organisation when you can speak to the people involved much more easily.

Just to point out about the locked in part though - the employees are not really locked in. They can leave. What some companies do is have a bond that requires the employee to pay back some of the costs (reducing over time).

Also, regardless of any agreement with the employee, the company gets paid back the unused part of the immigration skills surcharge they paid, so it's still a low financial risk ultimately.

Depends on where you are based, number of dependents, lifestyle and others. £45k gross is like £3k monthly after tax. You can save at least £1K... My thoughts 😀

Turn off all lights when not required, turn on your heater, only when required....... Bunch up washes, to avoid unnecessarily using washing machine, use your hands to wash dishes (not dish washer) etc etc ........

This amount is above national average which means you aren't doing badly. However, saving is a bit relative as you've got to consider alot of things like rent in terms of area, if you've got dependents & other financing. Well, I believe you should be able to save atleast 1k if you're the only one and with an assumption that your rent and bills is circa 1k. 200 to 300 should be enough for groceries and another 150 for transport. So it's possible but if you've got family with children you might need more sef.

You made me google Guernsey. Once you have work permit which is tier 2 visa , I believe you should be able to move anywhere in the Uk which are Northern Ireland, Scotland, wales and England. Anyone who have more information should please elaborate more. I wish you all the best
