Well explained, and noted.

However, from experience, I feel the military (if supported by their c-in-c obviously) can do more than we think in curbing this issue is most area.

For example, I once lived in Jos not far away from a hill harboring armed fulani herdsmen close to the Rukuba Barracks. Sometime in the news (in 2021), the heads men attacked a nearby village with the standing military presence not more than 1km away. This enraged the plateau people so much mainly because the military had previously opened fire on the same villagers to "calm" tension between the villagers and the same herdsmen in the past.

A journalist went there and questioned a military officer why they didn't open fire to protect the unarmed villagers. And he said, "we follow orders."

I doubt you have a first-hand experience observing the relationship between herdsmen and the military. I do, on multiple occasions in both Benue and Plateau, and take it from me, the military is in romance with these killer herdsmen.

I may be wrong, however, its for this reason that I know that the military (and most importantly, their c-in-c) can do A LOT in curbing the killer herdsman crisis. It's no coincidence that military presence usually outnumber the killer herdsmen in wherever these herdsmen operate. They run back to the military for protection!

At the end, herdsmen too are also being attacked...which is probably why they are being sometimes protected by the army (just me thinking out loud...you would be wrong if you think I back any atrocities or crimes by both sides).

We can send in the army to do their job....but that's just a short term fix. Long term involves what I have been yapping about on this thread....but the thing is, politicans want to get elected, not to propose long term solutions that might take years to do.

how are you sure they voted APC? In this election I will not accept that tinubu won rivers state and benue state. Inec should allow labor party to inspect the electoral material to unravel what really happened.

LOL. Of course, the herdsmen are being attacked. It is a heated conflict!

But it's common sense we're using here:
For example, would the military in a village in Sokoto protect a small group of Armed Plateau indigenes shooting at the unarmed Sokoto indigens?

My yappings is not about taking sides. It's common sense, and the fact that this "romance" did not exist in the time of people like OBJ and Goodluck. Hell, not even Y'adua

LP that is like APC and PDP is going to provide good leadership?

Tell me another one.

At the end, most of our leaders, including LP, are not serious. They believe in slogans, not long term solutions.

Solving the problem is going to take more than just believing in 'We will shoot all the Herdsmen on sight''. As why are the herdsmen getting into farms in the first place...because 40 years ago, the farms were forest land, free for grazing and now thanks to population increase, they have become farmsn

What is needed is a means for fulanis to have ranches up in the far North supplied by irrigated grazing areas, while we develop rail ways well so that meat can be transported down to the other parts of the country. Meanwhile, we need improved farming practices, so that much can be done on little land, and we can conserve forests and suchlike.

But did people like Ortom suggest that,? No. Did people like Obi suggest that? No. And as for Buhari he brought in the Ruga idea which created more harm than good....and which Tinubu supported.

Look...I am tired of hearning about how fulani are going to come and slaughter us all in the name of religion...the same Fulani whose following of Islam is at best loose. I am also tired of hearing the same old same old for decades. Either we start implementing tough measures....or we keep on repeating slogans.

F*ck off!! You’re a Muslim trying to protect your killer religion.

If you think Christians are deceived by your taqiyya(Islamic lies), you must be joking.

With a Christian in Aso Rock, Fulani Herdsmen issue will be solved in a week.

Stop lying with religious intent!!! Nigerians of other faith other than Islam are wiser.

At the end, the problem with Ruga is many other tribes see it (maybe unreasonably, but they have a point) as a land grab by Fulanis.

My idea is simple....fulanis stay up North in ranches, and transport cows by rail for processing to other parts of the country. The ranches can be fed by irrigation fueled by electric pumps.

Is it a perfect idea? No. But it at least IMHO...deals with all the scaremongering and sloganeering from both sides.

Seriously, roaming around with cows has to stop. In 1940, we was around 40 million people. No clashes. Now we are 220 million. And the land mass has not gotten any bigger.
Even if we reach 1 Billion in population..there will still be enough lands.. Nigerians have not occupied 25% of our total land area..
There are more than enough lands..

Yes I agree with you.. but that means ..freedom to move and settle in anywhere Nigeria is only for other Nigerians aside fulani..

Every Nigerian should be able to settle anywhere with his/her business as far as it is conducive..the truth is .. the south is way more conducive for cattle breeding than the north..

It makes no financial sense to buy pumps and the rest to provide for the cows and grow feeds for them when you can get it in abundance in the south.. this is why they migrate.. pushing them back will only cause a war and seems unrealistic same way you can't chase igbos from Lagos

The only option is to make provisions for them so that peace can reign..
That provision is ranching..
A ranch will not occupy more than 5% of the lands in a state..even if that land will only be for fulani.. no problem as far as it restricts their way of life and business to that place ..no problem....

If fulani eventually claiming the lands as theirs ..it is fine as far as it keeps them from roaming abouts...

By the way ..it isn't land grabbing if the lands is paid for..and the federal government is supposed to pay for the lands and the state government source for the land to be paid for so it isn't for free...

After all has igbos not claiming may lands in Lagos with their money..

If giving lands to fulani to do their business will stop them from roaming about.. killing people and destroying farms ...then it Is worth it .

But dull Nigerians are more consigned about a small piece of lands that has been there before the second coming of Christ and will still be there till their 20th generation..

There is even more economic value for ranches as the herders can be easily taxed and the state government makes more money..

I used Igbo as a sample since tribe is now introduced as a factor

N.B:- there are reports that weapons sent to Ukraine, some of them are now flowing into Africa.

It's a lie , they will not send weapons with sensitive information to Africa for China and Russia to copy so also decode it. You can't fool me.

Benue state traditionally votes Hausa-Fulani led party.
Benue voted for Alhaji Shehu Shagari, but not Nnamdi Azikiwe. Azikiwe won Plateau instead.
Since then, Benue has voted for Fulani.

Even this time of Obidients everywhere, Benue refused.

For how long. There are more than 10 sovereign countries in the world with population less than 200,000 people. The Tiv should be close to a million people.
