Nigerians are sensitive regarding political leadership; we have been through an ugly spate of Slavery and colonialism. The last things we want are foreigners involved in our political decision overtly - I believe it subconsciously. The average Nigerian doesn't care about economic hardship as long it is people of the same tribe or ethnic group meting it out to them. We have lots of Indians, Chinese, Lebanese, and Caucasians that have lived in Nigeria for a long and contributed to the Nigerian economy. They are wise no get involved. Rather, they are stuck with economic control. The older generation( baby boomers) are not woke when voting. Most of them grew up during British Imperialism; they have first-hand experience with how foreigners stifle their growth. Also, some lived with their grandparents who were victims of enslaved persons that returned to Nigeria; I am sure the story told won't be pleasing. 1 Like |

Nigerians are allowed to vote anywhere...a southern can vote in the north...a northerner can vote in the south...so anybody can vote in Lagos no matter where that person comes from |

You guys have been voting for PDP for more than 20years. Did yoruba in the East ever drag una local politics with you? Have they ever called Anambra a No Man’s land? dynicks: Not exactly. Lagos was originally Eko, a trading post established by the Benin Kingdom. Before then it was probably a fishing outpost for Aworis and the Eguns from Badagry. The Portuguese came and made it their main trading post and thus renamed it Lagos. The British took over, made it their slave post on the way to Badagry which was the main slave port. During colonization, the British made it their administrative capital, they actually attempted to set up a colony in Lagos. That's why almost all roads, buildings and infrastructures on Lagos was named after British Royals and amniniststrors until they began to change them fairly recently. Beforw independence the status Lagos was contentious. The Yorubas wanted Lagos handed over to Western Nigeria, the others opposed and demanded it to be defined as belonging to all Nigerians, aka no man's land. At the end of the day, Lagos was defined as belonging to all Nigerians, and the post independent capital remained there. Please note that the capital of western nigeria remained in Ibadan. The road that leads from Lagos to Western Nigeria was named Western Avenue. In 1967 General Gowon created 12 states with Lagos State as one of them. He then joined Ikorodu, Epe, Badagry, Ikeja, etc, from western nigeria into Lagos. Then the migrations started. Yorubas from all over the former Western Region migrated to Lagod. Igbos who lost everything during the civil war faced Lagos. Even northerners from all over former northern nigeria started migrating to Lagos. Today Lagos has become overpopulated and under tremendous social problems. Everyone now wants to claim Lagos now. If something is not done to decongest Lagos by developing other urban centres even in Yoruba land, Lagos will literallyexplode.t |

But they can take their tribalist islamics sefs to UK and America, to go and live and get top positions without anything. They hate the competition of surviving outside their streets in Nigeria to other Nigerian places We will work to leave. Not because it is easy to stand alone or with a few, but because we have to survive and try to grow, without it being a crime to be Christian and not a muslim slave in Nigeria. Since you support Christian genocide, May your tribe experience it. |

Nayturalistic:All this harangue against Igbo just bcoz they expressed their freedom to support a candidate of their choice who is also a Yoruba man like you? 🤔 With the way you guys are so hateful & bitter over the Igbos, one would have thought they are trying to impose an Igbo man as governor of Lagos. Last time I checked, none of the contestants is even an Igbo man. Why can't you Yoruba folks also apply similar energy to liberate Ilorin from the Fulanis & restore it to it's status quo as a Yoruba monarchy? Oh, I forgot, 😒 the Fulanis will severely destroy your cowardly asses & even capture more Yoruba towns in anger. So, you easily channel your frustrations to the Igbo tribe in Lagos because they have a peaceful & friendly disposition. By the way, I'm not an Igbo man, just a concerned Nigerian. 2 Likes |

GeneralPulal: Before you talk, always make a research. I as an Igbo person never heard about this "no man's land" thing from people around me growing up. Believe it or not, the first time I heard it was around 2019 and it was from a yoruba complaining about it. Yet here's an Oba that said it. My own be say, Igbos only vote to fight bad governance as far as they live anywhere. Your land, your land will not change bad leadership.

bobntu:This is exactly what we all want & Yoruba have been making non-indigenes a leader on their land, no be today. Ever tinubu the Igbos are hating on made Igbos commissioners when he was a Governor. No Governor has ever done that, yet he’s the one Igbos hate most.. However, a Jigawa or delta man never called Lagos a No Man’s land. It’s men from SE doing so. Why did Igbo decided to come up with such unfortunate phrase? What was their aim? Was their aim peace & love? If you’re an Igbo guy. You dey talk of equal right, when even within SE, there’s no equal right.. SMH

As long as the Elected Leaders would not make rules that would be bound by the Igbos, everyone is happy. But if the Igbos are expected to be subjected to the decisions of the Leader then they have a say in electing that Leader. |

As vibrant as the Indians and Lebanese business are in UK, the British never share their rights with them as owners of the country. So why will the Igbo people be claiming Lagos is no man's land, all because of their business success?. I think Lagos needs policy to place these people where they belong. Stranger is stranger. The Benins, the Itchekiris the Nupes, etc that share borders and historical relationship with the Yoruba never engaged Omoluabi in any tussle of this kind. In addition, if you hear Nigerians being attacked in other parts of Africa, be rest assured that it is the people from the south east of Nigeria. Why? ..... because of their utterances to their host. 1 Like |

Since last year for fck sake, we couldn’t even come on SM and express ourselves, insults alone would have been nice but nah, na so so curse curse.. as if na only una sabi curse. Yet with all the curse, election play, una lose as projected and expected. Una con look look everywhere con decide say na Lagos own go be una last political fight and na to instal one of yours. Sorry you got played. Shout thugs all u like but what those ‘thugs’ did was a very very simple job they were given to do.. And you saying none of the candidates is Igbo is what is going to make me stop replying you cuz it sort of sums up everything about you personally.. 1 Like |
