Based on his illustration, technically, they aren't cousins.

Since the boy and girl in question are of the second generation, the relationship between them changes slightly but probably not as much as being able to marry without it being termed as incest.

However, I suppose if Child 1 was male and Child 2 was female, Child 2's children would be regarded as distant cousins to that of her actual cousin's kids.

Some distant cousins do marry, I believe?
