How did he then get into the university? Grades for admission to top unis are quite clear, no long leg. Top unis abroad for some course also require additional exams.

By top uni what is its world ranking and US ranking? People always cite how a less smart person was admitted into a top school abroad. Which school?

If you tell me that some people with poor attitude, poor circumstances or inadequate support in 9ja didn't do well in 9ja studies but excelled abroad, I will understand.

Passing medicine and dentistry exams anywhere in the world is evidence that you are a top talent, so remove Medicine, Vet and Dentistry from it. Even Law, some science courses and Engineering in some 9ja unis. If you select the best in any environment, they won't represent the general population.

By the way, I am telling what I have seen. That question you asked I could easily have answered over 25 years already from seeing it.

Pls oo. . u all are talking about science courses ...don't they give scholarships to social science students..I just graduated from economics department DELSU.....waiting for d next batch of nysc...but dis scholarship of a thing... Am really interested but I only hear of it for science related courses 😣😣😣

The point is your useless universities don't give the needed knowledge and your useless companies are looking for first class instead of competency, I can fu**ck lecturer and get first class without anything upstairs.

I recently graduated from economics department DELSU...y is it scholarship are mainly based on science related courses

Long overdue. In 1995 I couldn't get admission into any Polytechnic or Universities in Nigeria despite having a Grade 2 in WAEC. All because I didn't have a good grade in English. I graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronics Engineering with a GPA of 3.35 and a Master degree in Information Technology. After having spent 10 years designing and programming ERP manufacturing with General Motors. Today I work for myself from the comfort of my own house in sunny South Florida writing and designing Cloud Based business applications for Fortune 100 companies. Not too bad for a guy born in IJebu Ode and attended Ebenezer Primary School Oke Ado Ibadan.

I spent years at Agbeja Street, imalenfalaafia,.oke ado near Nigeria tribune, when going towards Idi Opę end. I gained admission same year as you...1995/96 but before then, I worked at Odusote Bookstores at oke bola. Its only in Nigeria we celebrate degrees. Degrees or grades aren't true tests of human capabilities. There are 3rd class graduates who are far better than lots of first class holders.

I almost made first class...all those I was teaching in school in those days made first class. One thing used to happen to me. Once the exams was approaching, I'd fall sick and be unable to concentrate. In fact, I could forget all I was taught. I'd struggle to answer some questions. In my secondary school days, it was like that. I gained admission with combined waec results while those I taught cleared their papers at a sitting. After I graduated,.I outlived those challenges by the grace of God. Both home and abroad my post-graduates were super.

I chose to return to Nigeria ftom US after my studies, doing my own business as well. Nigeria is a training ground. That's why dull students here always blaze trails when they get there cos the environment they find themselves encourage them a lot.

its a statement of lie. He had a 2-2 and gatecrashed a 2-1 test and was allowed to go through the recruitment assessment by grace and got employed. He gave a testimonial about this not long ago.

Nop, there is scholarship for almost all the courses....But unlike STEM which are readily available, Social sciences & economics tend to be a bit harder, assuming a person is pretty smart, it won't be much of an issue... Check d education thread on this forum & also follow d right people on twitter
