To mark the 30th anniversary of the Premier League, Supersports has created a shortlist of 30 African players that have played in the league and they are asking you to vote for the best. The shortlisted players are:

• Bruce Grobbelaar: Zimbabwe. Liverpool (1981-1994)

• Tony Yeboah: Ghana. Leeds United (1995-1997)

• Lucas Radebe: South Africa. Leeds United (1994-2005)

• Nwankwo Kanu: Nigeria. Arsenal (1999-2004), West Bromwich Albion (2004-2006), Portsmouth (2006-2012)

• Austin Jay Jay Okocha: Nigeria. Bolton Wanderers (2002-2006)

• Geremi Njitap: Cameroon. Chelsea (2003-2007), Newcastle United (2007-2009)

• Rigobert Song: Cameroon. Liverpool (1999-2000)

• Didier Drogba: Ivory Coast. Chelsea (2004-2012) (2014-2015)

For as long as the Premier League has existed, African players have been at the heart of its thrills and its excellence.

To celebrate 30 years of the league, SuperSport is running a groundbreaking campaign encouraging fans to select the greatest African players to have ever played in England’s top league.

From Mo Salah and Didier Drogba to Benni McCarthy and many more, African heroes have been found at every turn.

Recognising this wealth of talent, SuperSport, in conjunction with Premier League Productions, will produce a 60-minute show with Thomas Mlambo, Leeds legend Lucas Radebe and former Premier League star, John Barnes, to select their greatest African PL XI of all time.

After the March 24 broadcast, fans will be able to vote for the Premier League’s greatest African XI from a shortlist of 30. A vibrant mix of talent and star power who have shone through the years, to be revealed between the 7th and the 24th of March.

From March 24 to May 25, fans will be able to vote online (www.supersport.com/africaxi) for their 11 best-ever African players – no formation required.

This will be followed in June and July by media events in South Africa, Kenya, Ghana and Nigeria.

After the roadshows are complete, the campaign will culminate in a gala awards dinner in Lagos, Nigeria to unveil the chosen African All-Star XI as per the fans’ selections.

So keep coming back to the site as we reveal new players every day from 9-24 March, after which you can cast your vote.

What is the aim of the campaign?

Do I have to choose a player from each position?

Your preferred 11 players do not have to make up a traditional formation. You are not limited to a certain number of players from any position.

When is the final reveal of the best XI?

In July (date TBC), the most voted for XI will be revealed at a gala dinner held in Lagos, Nigeria.

Why are there only 30 players to choose from?

The All-Star list is limited to 30 players in celebration of the 30 years of the Premier League.

How will we keep the excitement before voting opens?

Fans are encouraged to keep coming back to the website as we reveal new players every weekday from 9-24 March, after which you can cast your vote.

From March 24 to May 25, fans will be able to vote online (www.supersport.com/africaxi) for their 11 best-ever African players.

How does the voting platform work?

You will be presented with 30 current/former African Premier League stars to which you will then need to select your greatest XI. From there the platform will allow you to share and post on social media.

Is there a viewer / voter subscription?

There is no subscription fee when it comes to picking your greatest XI.

What will viewers get by registering on the platform to vote?

Viewers will get an opportunity to engage and have their say on who they think are the greatest players to play in the Premier League and compare their XI with others, as well as the final most voted for XI.

Not a Chelsea fan, but Didier Drogba in my own opinion is the greatest....

Coming close are Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Kanu Nwankwo.

He did not just represent Ivory Coast in the EPL, he represented the whole of Africa....

Salah and Mane are playmakers, their contributions can never be forgotten.

But a good number 9 like drogba will always be top of the list because they are the difference maker. The whole team rely on them in key moments.

Sadly, lone strikers era is becoming a thing of the past.
