Redmi Note 12 series launched with 4 phones yesterday

RN12 4G, RN12S, RN12 Pro and RN12 Pro+

However these are not the phones that you're expecting.

First of kudos. The video was insightful.

But hear me out, I do think Smartphone designs have peaked or "plateaued" over the past few years, Take the flaghips for example, OEM have very little to tweak as per innovations, and it's basically the cameras they are on about and maybe slightly faster SOC, each year, as 120Hz LTPO display, Faster Charge, etc have become standard, Iphone had to even introduce the "Dynamic Island" which isn't much of a Deal breaker btw to make things interesting.

My point being, it's the "Mid range" devices that are suffering the most, cuz I don't think OEM can tweak the specs more than they currently are and still keep the "prices" mid range. This is not only particular to Xiaomi, as Samsung Mid range for the past few years now, have been basically similar with little differences, A12,A13, and A14 are basically the same. The Exynos chip on the A14 might be faster than that of the A13, but in real life figures, they might perform about just the same and handle similar task albeit with the A14 costing more.

You might also throw in argument that other regions get better Xiaomi mid range with slightly better specs, but don't forget that those countries aren't the "poverty HQ of the world" with people living under 2$ a day, I am sure if you compare the "Mid Range" prices from other regions they will be well above what the one's released for this region, are selling for, i might be wrong tho.

Speaking as someone who has observed the phone market in Nigeria for the past 3 years, i don't think anyone is buying the Note version series for "wow performances", as for the Pro versions, they can't tweak anymore for it still remain at price point and they can't just discontinue the "Note Pro" line, and that's why the Note 10 pro is probably still in production and available to at least give one a better choice around that price point, I don't see them doing anything dramatically different with that line in the immediate future.

As for the Redmi note 12, it is an "Upgrade" on the Redmi note 11, 6.67 inch screen as compared to the Redmi note 11's 6.4 inch screen, 120Hz refresh rate as compared to the 90Hz refresh rate of the Redmi note 11. MIUI 14 and A13 out of the box, so is guaranteed at least 2 major OS update whilst the Note 11 will come full cycle with it's OS upgrade when it gets A13 and the final kicker is that is at less price currently as opposed to the Redmi Note 11. In a direct comparison with the Samsung's A14, it has an AMOLED screen as compared to A14's PLS, faster charge, 120Hz refresh rate etc, and still costing less.

That's my 2 cent.

Nigeria prices are actually lower compared to Europe but definitely not at the level of India.

Touché

I agree with all the points stated but with one correction. The A14 4G is overpriced hot garbage that no one in their right minds should touch. I'll rather go with a Spark 10 Pro or the Redmi 12C.

The Midrange portion of your argument is something myself and festwiz have fleshed out yesterday. There's no need for these many models. It only ends up adding more work for the dev support team that is overworked.

All of these would have been solved with one device. Just one. The Redmi Note 12 (5G). It would have been an upgrade on all the other phones. They'd only need to sell and support this one. The 12 5G would have sold like crazy whilst being a massive upgrade especially in terms of performance and network connectivity.

But instead, Xiaomi in their wisdom chose to complicate things by throwing in 3 "new" unnecessary devices that they will only support halfheartedly. Why?

Because they only want to give us marginal gains. That's it. There's no way around it.

Think of it like this, imagine that instead of giving us RN7 as it was globally, they reworked Mi A2 and named it RN7. That's exactly what is happening here.

Kinda underwhelmed with the launch. Was looking forward to the 12 pro 5g which we apparently won't be getting. The pro plus is the only 5g enabled device we'd be getting and I'm not interested in it.

Please do anyone have an idea of how to fix Redmi Note 9 not booting pass the Redmi logo?

NB: the phone wasn't faulty at the time it switched off, neither was it manhandled.

The Redmi Note 12 is the same thing as the Redmi Note 12 4G. The phone is everywhere.

4+128GB is 116,900
6+128GB is 125,900
8+128GB is 134,900

Nigeria prices are actually lower compared to Europe but definitely not at the level of India.

I'm faced between choosing the Indian version of the Redmi Note 12 (5g) which sports and hybrid slot and a 4-Gen-1 SD processor and the Redmi Note 12 (4g) dual sim and dedicated SD card slot with the SD 685. I checked the benchmark score for both processors but I still want to know what we feel.

I believe there is a Global Version for Redmi Note 12 5G. It was released in Europe last week.

So why not go for that?

Please, is there a way to fix Poco M3 on/off issue? I no longer have warranty on the phone.

I don't know why I still like the phone🥲

It comes on and off like 2/3 times a month now.

Thanks.
