Did you treat the soil with nematicide?
Uproot one or two infected ones and check the roots for nematode infestation. You can snap and post the roots zone if you don't know how to check for nematode. 2nd suspect is likely BW.
Unlike Padma and platinum F1, I don't think EWS really provide details of diff disease resistance of diva F1 in the public domain. Diva is meant to scale up in size (and color) above platinum. When sizes get bigger, one or two disease resistance is usually sacrificed. Thats what you experienced on your farm between the two. This is also applicable to cobra 26 and cobra 34 where the latter sacrificed Vd resistance for it's bigger size.

Yes I treated with nematicide (wormforce)

it bacteria wilt. It happen to few stand of diva ( like 15 out 3000 stand) when I planted both plantinum and diva together last year.

It has currently affected like 40% of my diva stands and very few of platinum...

I spoke the country manager of East West seeds today's and she confirmed it BW..

any insecticide will work, but I will prefer (contact) cypermethrin. Purpose is to kill insect that may cut the seedlings when we transplant.

40%! The BW strain in your soil must be the stubborn one o. Sadly it has no cure, maybe few prevention. If you had grown poor tomato variety on that land before, it can also populate the bacteria.
With this one that it also affects few platinum, you will need to rest the land after this batch and do crop rotation for few years before u can use it for tomato again.

Herbicide for tomato farm?? Be careful poo.
Use manual weeding. Only experts can use contact herbicide to kill the weeds within the row while you use hand to weed the beds

You can spray contact herbicide on pepper but you must be very careful too

They will recover in few days time.
Just continue watering

The tomatoes have improved/settled in their new home.
I lost a few and wish to ask of it's wise to replace them from my new nursery batch?

My observation on the recent experience is that:
1. The young tomatoes were too tall at the time of transplanting them. We had to dig deeper holes to accommodate the height. But, the workers that did the transplant did not fill the soil properly to hold the root+stem. There was vacuum beneath the soil and the plant.
2. The transplant operation started in the morning through the afternoon. The hot weather of the day and subsequent days of no rainfall stressed the plant as well.

Can I gap-fill with younger plants from the nursery please?

I will advise you not to do supply with young seedlings. if you do, you will notice both will go at thesame time.

do you use quality manure, and how many times have you applied fertilizer? This your tomato stalk shows not enough nutrient. You try! but can still do more.

They are not of same age, so I bet it's best not to replace them then.
Thanks.

I applied NPK moments ago. Transplant was done 10-11th of March.
I sprayed Haifa Bonus liquid fertilizer 5 days ago.
No Manure used so far due to its unavailability.
Thanks.

I asked about the history of the land the other day if tomato has previously been cultivated on it before. Deficiency wl not give leaves dark spots. its disease, most likely early blight, late blight is worse. Get ortiva top or blue snow, both contain same ingredients.

sorry about this! With time you will master the skills. Is blue snow or similar fungicide part of your spraying program? If not introduce it when your tomato plant is exactly a month on the field, 15ml per 16lit, once in 2-3 weeks in evening.

sure! Don't use overdose or spray it frequently,if you do it will burn your plant. Once in two or three weeks is okay!

(1). Please my question is that, can I spray the land because of weeds before transplanting the tomatoes. (2). Can I plant the tomatoes naw at this period without irrigation system, will the rain be enough for it at this particular time.

You can't plant tomato now without irrigation. Tomato does not like too much water like that but need enough water for at least two weeks to become fully established after transplanting, and rain is not falling now.

Secondly, I will advice you don't use herbicide to prepare your soil, herbicide used to prepare land for transplanting have residual effects on tomatoe. I lost more than 200 seedling to this.

i think it still a bit doable a when the farming is on a small scale, watering it is a bit easier and rain has been consistent this days, infact there has been more rainy days than sunny days since transplanting...those with drip tapes have had their tapes useless for some weeks now..i hope i will be able to afford drip tapes and layflat from proceeds of this harvest...thank you

Op,how is it going with your tomatoes without using irrigation..it's been 14days since we last saw rainfall here,I hope newbie farmers understand the need to have drip irrigation installed first, guarantees that your plants will always have water...sorry,I had to come back to this

I got the most out them and was able to get irrigation kit from the proceedings..if your farm is on a small scale, below 1000 stands ..get watering can and water manually...on a large scale don't do dry season farming.

Please, I have already planted some tomatoes this just for subsistence purpose but my challenge is how to preserve them during this rainy season to be used later in the dry season.
Any idea on how to do that?
