It might be neither of the above.

You might just have been an irresponsible drunkard who always forgets to replace them before he gets home...

My guy if ur situation no ever reach like this, then u are enjoying as u haven't tasted poverty.
If u ever used your soap or toothpaste up to this level, two things are involved
1. Its either ur stingy to yourself
2. Your poverty level has a confidence interval of 100%
I have attained the stage in d past but God don catapult me into a better stage

Metcheew, you call this one poverty?
When I did nysc at aba, I briefly stayed at the nta with some coppers. There was this man staying there. His salary then was equivalent to someone earning like 4k monthly in today's money, a Gardner if I remember right.
This man will make beans. That beans will be his stew for a week. Beans direct, fufu and beans, eba and beans. That is how he will be adding water until it is soup.
Another fellow that worked in the same office I worked in Lagos, that one, the poverty was so much he lost kids because of minor sickness like maleria. During the period I was there, he last 3 out of 5 kids. It was so trival, people will tell him sorry for your loss, the man will simply say think you, it is the will of God! The man will trekk like Ikeja to Surulere to work and back. I heard later he slumped and died.
Omo forget, some people just came to this world to suffer and die.

You bathroom still get tiles.

In real poor scenarios, they use damp mini towel to wipe the whole body and spray scent leaf extract + cheap perfume.

They use chewing stick for their mouths.

Don't mind the Fool! Absolute Fool

Nigerians are so full of shyt.
Preventing waste by ensuring to use up all of an item is termed poverty.
Re-use, recycle are termed poverty.
A nation of braggarts.
Things that are being encouraged in the saner climes you lots so wish you can japa to are what you people term "poverty".
I visited a friend and was served food. I ensured to eat up to the last grain of rice on the plate. And they insisted on serving me more, I told them I was full, that my finishing the entire food wasn't because of hunger, but to prevent wastage. I knew they didn't understand what I was saying cos they would have preferred I wasted a portion of the food to prove I was full.
This nation just seems like a collection of unintelligent people
The only sensible comment so far.
They will soon come for you, for making such a statement.

I disagree with that close-up own.

Sometimes, there'll be money to get a new one, but probably because I'm late for class or I'm lazy to go out and buy a new one, I'll then decide to tear the old one open.

And scoop from it.
You knew it was getting to quarter to finish, you should have bought one on stand by if really you are above poverty line. I come in peace.
