Yes, I learned Spanish in Barbados while in nursing school, and it helped in communicating especially when traveling through Brazil, and the Panama route but personally it helped my communication with fellow Spanish nurses. I don't know how it could benefit more in Nigeria but outside the country it is.

If you are in Unilag, Learn Chinese(Mandarin) language.
Other Universities, Major in French and minor in German.

French but me I love Spanish sha.. I'm a Spanish speaker... I work with couple of Mexican here in LA.. and its helps me build up my language skills

Canada - learn French
United States - learn Spanish
Europe - Learn french

It depends on the intention, if it is just moving out for international work experience (Japa) getting a working visa and making a living for yourself, it is definitely Germany.

A decades ago, i would have chosen French but right now. I will go with German language, it is the most spoken language in Europe after Russian, followed by French.

France has been a mass immigration country longer than Germany but in comparison France is saturated and doesn't need immigration as much as Germany does. Therefore France is trying to close the gate or at least to the very picky whereas Germany is widely open.

German is an official language in Austria, Belgium, Germany, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and Switzerland.

French is also officially spoken in Belgium, Luxembourg, Monaco, and Switzerland.it is also spoken in parts of Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands.

Russia is also a good language to consider since it is the most spoken language in Europe.
It is officially spoken in Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, and it's considered an unofficial lingua franca in Ukraine and many former Soviet countries. These include Azerbaijan, Estonia, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan but widely spoken in these countries so you see why it is a major language in Europe.

But if you wanna migrate to US or Canada.
Go for French or Spanish since some parts in Canada speak French and Spanish is required in some working environment in the USA.

I wish Nigerian universities will make it compulsory for every student to choose a foreign language to learn while in the university.

Chinese .

French is another widely spoken language after English. You will go places with it as you will have advantage over others if opportunities come your way in any french speaking country
