Bro grin it means what you said but what I'm saying is Maza maza also means men men taste is the direct translation. The origin of the word is when someone what you to do something quick and with haste you gotta do like a man hence the word maza maza.

OK just like when they say do like man

Jesus! Grabbing penis?? Nawa

That guy's comment is somewhat self contradictory. He said they come to you to shake thier ass and grab your penise. This implies they make thier trade overly obvious. Then he said again that a newbie wouldn't notice them and that one needs to frequent the place for like a week to notice. This implies they only make subtle moves that can only be noticed by someone on the lookout. How do you reconcile these two statements? People just come on here to say anything. I personally don't believe any male prostitute would walk up to you and grab your penise, not even in a country where it legal.

As a result of the laws and law enforcement bodies in the country, queer nightlife in Nigeria is shrouded in secrecy and has been forced to go underground.
A few minutes before midnight on a June evening, there was a line of people attempting to gain access to an unmarked apartment block in Lekki Phase 1 — a suburban neighborhood in Lagos State. To the uninitiated, it was a regular house party in the heart of Lagos Island, which is populated with young people in their 20s. For the attendees who had a flier on their phones and a passcode on their lips, this was an event they had looked forward to for weeks. When they arrived at the doors, they were all asked for a passcode which transported them into a vibrant pulsing party which had drag queens walking across the room and men in shorts that barely went past their crutches gyrating on other men while afrobeats blared. Welcome to queer nightlife in Nigeria where, on weekends, apartments turn into gay clubs, barred with passcode-guarding doors to protect against homophobes.

Secret house parties, discrete raves, and clubs are now becoming increasingly popular amongst young queer Nigerians.

Across the country, especially in the big cities like Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt, lounges, clubs, and bars dedicated to the LGBTQ+ community have started sprouting despite legislation that makes it illegal for them to exist. In 2014, the Nigerian government passed the highly controversial and homophobic Same-Sex Marriage Prohibition Act. Despite the name, the law would go on to criminalize many other aspects of queer existence and not just marriage between people of the same sex. The far-reaching law criminalized queer social spaces, groups that advocate for queer rights, and even individuals advocating and supporting queer rights. The law also went on to prescribe a prison term that could go up to 14 years for those who were found guilty of these crimes in southern Nigeria. However, in Northern and mostly Muslim Nigeria, where Shariah law takes pre-eminence, these crimes could lead to death by stoning. While there isn’t an extensive record of people being found guilty for these crimes in Nigeria, these laws emboldened many homophobic mobs who took the laws into their hands and would beat individuals who they identified as queer and destroy spaces and parties that they suspected were hosted by or for queer people. One of the most infamous instances was a 2018 case where 57 men were arrested at a party in Lagos under the suspicion of being initiated into a gay club. While this particular case garnered significant press coverage as the men were made to go to trial, it is far from being the only case of its kind. It is fairly common for the police to raid suspected queer parties to arrest everyone in sight — often with little to no proof of the suspects being gay.

As a result of the laws and law enforcement bodies in the country, queer nightlife in Nigeria has been forced to go underground. Bars and clubs are left behind for parties in apartments. Recent years have seen a resurgence in the public profile of queer nightlife in Nigeria — partly thanks to a rise of resistance against oppressive systems within Nigeria that have been supported and have originated on social media, more queer people are becoming brave and open about queer nightlife in Nigeria. Secret house parties, discrete raves and clubs are now becoming increasingly popular, especially amongst young queer Nigerians. Creative collectives like hFactor and Pride in Lagos have pushed the narrative even further by organizing pride-specific events and raves in Lagos over the last few years.

"‘‘I had been to clubs before but this was different. There was a freedom I didn’t feel in other parties."

‘‘My first time at a queer party in Nigeria was in 2021. A friend invited me to a hFactor event and It was such an experience,’ Peju, a 23-year-old bisexual man tells OkayAfrica. ‘‘I had been to clubs before but this was different. There was a freedom I didn’t feel in other parties. Guys were grinding on guys, girls were flirting with girls. There wasn’t a need to pretend to be something I’m not.’’

However, attending these events comes with specific risks. Guests often took precautions — attending the parties with friends, letting their friends who weren’t there know where they were at and confirming there were accessible exits at all times. For many of these attendees, they may have never had to use those themselves but they know of people or at least have heard of people who have had to. Tamuno, a 31-year-old gay man, tells me of a near-capture experience when he had gone to a party in Port Harcourt in 2020.

‘‘There was this party that happened weekly. It became kind of popular and more queer people started coming. What we didn’t account for was that neighbors had realized it was full of queer people,’ Tamuno said. ‘‘One day, we were all at the party and they surrounded the house. Some of us managed to escape, others weren’t as lucky. I wasn't lucky.’’ Tamuno recounts that after being taunted and shamed and then stripped to their boxers for a relatively long time, the police then came. ‘‘The police coming to carry us was what saved us because then my brother, who I called, was able to bribe them to let us go. Whenever I think about what would happen if the police hadn’t come, I experience a full body shudder.’’

a group of people taking photos

Organizers have to find ways to limit people who can gain access to these parties.

To help combat this, organizers of these events prioritize security and the safety of their guests. It is important that attendees feel safe from homophobic attacks from civilians and the armed forces. To achieve this, organizers have learned to deploy multiple guards.

‘‘Everyone’s safety is a priority to me and this means that multiple channels of security are constantly put in place to help safeguard our guests.’’ Kayode Timileyin, one of the organizers of Pride In Lagos tells OkayAfrica. ‘‘The first of which is the fact that all our events are only by a registration and verification process. Also, external security guards are made available. Lastly, we go all out to look for a real safe space.’’

It doesn’t end at just verifying the identities of the guests. Organizers have to find ways to limit people who can gain access to the location. This might mean generating a password only verified guests are given or keeping the exact location — and sometimes even date — a secret and only given to the verified guests. For these organizers, these security measures are put in place, not against potential miscreants or robbers but instead to keep off the police force and homophobes.

Despite dangers, the queer nightlife scene is bustling and thriving.

The underground nightlife scene in Lagos is bustling and thriving — despite the laws that criminalize it and the constant danger. This illustrates the spirit of resilience amongst queer Nigerians who choose to reach for any semblance of freedom they can find even if it is on the dance floor for just a night.

‘‘My experience getting arrested traumatized me. It scared me. I was getting beaten, and paraded and I was so scared that they would kill me. But they didn’t so of course, I’ll party again," Tamuno said. ‘‘I still go to these parties and I’ll still keep going. It’s not that I’m scared. It’s just that when I’m on the dance floor surrounded by other queer men, I feel like my true self. I feel happy. I feel content. And that’s what I want out of life. If I die because I am seeking that, that’s fine.’’

More queer people are becoming brave and open about queer nightlife in Nigeria.

Listen my friend then you do not know that part of Lagos it is very difficult to know what is going on only if you are inside the ring. Even when you enter those hotels you will know nothing this trip rooms are completely secrets. You need very special person to enter,

If you live 10 years you will not know anything. If you are in the same building 4 storey building and they are on the ground floor and you are leaving on the 4th floor you will know nothing they have their own entry which nobody else uses. They have their own Walkways which nobody else use to enter the building with a back door. You are a child and does not even know anything. It is easier to evil find people which are selling drugs than to find these guys they have their own sign and code

There has been something which has been bothering me since 2022 April. When I went to stay with a relative at masa masa Lagos I was totally shocked.

I stayed there for the first week and I noticed nothing, after about three weeks in the area and started coming back a bit late around 9 p.m. I started knowing strange things that the amount of homosexuals in the area is actually more than the amount of prostitutes

I noticed the same thing in festac and agric, it is very unfortunate most of the prostitutes in this area have been put out of business by this guys. Pushing a lot of prostitutes to relocate as far as ibadan. You can find guys from all over Africa and any tribe in Nigeria doing their job there. I found some South Africa, Botswana Namibia Tanzania and Malawi in Maza-maza, Agric And Festac

That time I have been wondering myself if the guys are selling their body for money and the girls are doing the same thing where will the customers come from?

Competition is really tight and heavy in those areas
You're asking the wrong questions. You should ask which geopolitical zone has the most gays then you will have the answer to your question

Listen to me before they used to approach you but now it is extremely difficult what I saw last year it all about code and signs. Before in some of the hotels they will look at your behaviour come close to you and start touching you especially on the dance floor. But this no more happens, now male stripping is some of the hotels I do need secret code to enter where they are doing it.

But from what I know the guys are still on the street in some of this area ploughing their trade

NEWSREVEALED: Where homosexuals hang out in Lagos, their modus operandiPublished on March 14, 2013By Ifreke Inyang

For those with their ears to the ground, rumblings and rumours about gays and their damned activities are becoming ramparts in the city of Lagos so much so that discerning members of the public can now pinpoint some of the locations where they use as rendezvous for pick-up or meet-up.

A Sunday Express investigations came up with credible findings that indicate that a cluster of hangouts at Maza-maza, a densely populated area at Mile Two along the Badagry express way is currently the beehive of gay activities. Other gay enclaves include Agric and Festac, two outlying locations along the same axis.

In the course of the investigation, Sunday Express encountered a gang of four young men who could be referred to as “gay busters” based on their confrontational encounters with the “men of sodomy.” Johnson, Peter, Cletus and Ebuka (all students) who constituted themselves into an anti-gay club shared their experiences with SE reporters.

Their experience is an aperture on the pervasiveness of this sexual cankerworm that is gradually corroding the fabric of the society.

Cletus started with his personal encounters with a gay stalker.

“I am a fun-loving guy. I often go to hang out in notable hotels in Festac town during the weekend just to watch entertainers perform. But to my utmost dismay, most of the guys there started making sexual advances at me.”

The twenty-something-year old continued: “These are guys who ought to have pretty girls by their sides. One in particular was quite persistent. He is a famous Igbo gospel artiste-cum-actor, fair-complexioned, he acts and sings like a woman. He calls me with such endearment as “baby, my love,” and “sweetheart.” I was embarrassed because it was so unromantic coming from a fellow guy.”

When Cletus failed to take the bait, the artiste raised the stake by promising him a smartphone, a N100, 000 cash one night stand and a tour with him to other states where he was billed to perform.

“When he was becoming obsessive with his calls and requests even at ungodly hours, I had to call him to order, by threatening to report him to the press if he doesn’t stop his incessant harassments,” he narrated.

Peter’s case was not so different from that of Cletus. He was consistently harassed on 2go and Whatsapp, two mobile phone chat applications popular among youths.

For Peter, the most maddening part of the episode was the noisome habit of one of the gays who likes sending him pictures of his erect manhood and other exposed parts of his body and also prompting him to do same, after his promise of cash and other enticing material things failed.

“In the course of our chat,” Ebuka, recalled his encounter with a Facebook gay, “he confessed to have been in the act for over 10 years. Though he has a girlfriend, he hardly feels aroused whenever she’s around him or touches him. Instead he feels a sensual chemistry for fellow men and easily gets aroused when he feels a sensual touch of a male on his body.”

In retrospect Ebuka reflected: “If I wasn’t careful enough, I would have fallen into his snare. I must confess, his offer was really enticing. And a student like me could do with such support. Another sad thing about these gays, is that they like luring young and under age guys living around Mazamaza and its environs.”

From these thrust-and-parry encounters with gays, the four young men found a common calling: punishing gays. They formed an anti-gay club in their neighbourhood.

Subsequently, they set up some gays using a hotel located at Satellite town.
Ebuka reconstructed one of their outings: “There was this particular fellow who was disturbing me for months. I informed my friends about it and we agreed to teach him a lesson. I finally accepted his overtures and I invited him to come around. I told him to meet me at a particular hotel where we have already booked for a room.

He came from Coker, close to Orile Iganmu. When he arrived he paid for the room. Inside the room, I told him that my service fee would cost him N50,000. After haggling, we agreed on N20,000. I insisted he took a shower and while he was at it I made the bed. In his presence I stripped off my clothes save for my brief.

When he saw me, his manhood became erect and he became impatient. He wanted to insert his manhood inside my anus right away but I insisted he take his bathe first. When it was finally time for ‘action,’ I cued my friends and they burst into the room. He was caught ‘pants down, naked.

We dealt with him. We seized his cloths. We had wanted to create a scene, by parading him outside in the nude. But he begged us seriously. He claimed he doesn’t know why he prefers making love with male than with the opposite sex. Eventually, we set him free after strong-worded warning.”

Their next encounter was with another “homo” who simply gave his name as Biodun. This man of deviant sexual inclination from a reputable family in Ajah, Lagos, confessed that he was born abnormal.

In his late 20s, he admitted that while he has never had sex with the opposite sex, he has had it countless times with boys even while he was still in secondary school.

Biodun, who tried to lure Peter, was described by the latter as “a terrorist on 2go.” His modus operandi was simple: he lures young boys, mostly under-age to his lodge with cash and expensive phones. And those who fell for his wile, were sodomized. But with Peter, he met a homophobe, who together with his friends were on an anti-gay mission. They framed him too, inviting him to the N4000 per room hotel at Satellite Town.

Boxed into a corner, Biodun was not only beaten, would have been pushed into the street naked. But after a session of serious begging, he was allowed to go but minus his valuables, notably his high-end blackberry.

Girly voices, girlish gait, dandy dressing and over-the-moon reaction to well-built guys – these are the tell-tales signs of a gay, but these four young men are of the opinion that finding a gay now is as simple as abc.

“Just go to any cheap hotels and popular hang outs, even clubs where plenty men dey,” Ebuka averred, “If you stay long, dem go come to you, especially in this our Mazamaza area. The government should urgently do something before these gays begin to kidnap, rape and initiate more young boys, especially defenceless under-age.”

Hhmm.. OK.

Are u insinuating that op got what he was looking for??

Keep shut neega, you coined the story, if not you would have posted videos and pictures if you were truly there. 😂

Have you wondered most of the homosexual topics on YouTube people down especially about Nigeria. You try it post pictures of homosexuals and see if nairaland will not die and you for 5 years. Talk is cheap.
