If U've known a girl to the extent of considering marriage with her and at this stage of ur relationship, u came to nairaland to seek for validation...it only speaks volume of the kind of person that u are, and I feel sorry for the girl in question. For you to have considered her for marriage that means she has passed your standard.

Yorubas are not hard on bride price. Most waive it when they see their daughter is comfortable with the man. But ensure the wedding is full of life, it is the owanbe tribe. Don't dull it.

Also, relax your mind. Most elderly people are tribalistic because they are not exposed. They didn't travel outside. Some are open minded. If you're a good man, they will shut the tribalistic ones up for you. Everybody can't love you in a big family; even in your own tribe. So relax your mind.

If her family don't accept you, another will. Families make up tribe, not the other way round. A lot of families want the best for their daughter, not tribe shii.

I personally don't have anything against any tribe because I'm not stereotypical. A good girl is a good girl and a bad girl is abad girl no matter the tribe. Having said that, for an average Yoruba wife to a non Yoruba man just make sure you are in the kitchen with her when she adds oil and pepper to and dish. This includes akamu, tea and tell her to avoid ewedu .
