My baby is just a year and a month old. I'm scared she'll spoil the tab if i get it so early. How were you able to protect his tab from getting damaged? franchasofficia: |

We are living in a digital world. If you do not allow your children to use these electronics, they will be left far behind other children. The key is be selective with what they are able to see on the tablet. You must also monitor the amount of time they use it. 1 Like |

My wife seems to be glued to Facebook and Instagram. She doesn't seem to understand the negative sides of those social media apps. Now, we have a 6weeks old and I am actually afraid. Anytime, the child is not in her arms she switches to her phone for the usual social media activities. I am afraid that the child will jump into the bandwagon very soon. 1 Like |

I provide for you a case study. Please learn from a Ghanaian Mother, as she disciplines two kids from Britain, to Understand her motive, although i dont agree with severe strictness, but when you have a purpose and direction behind something, you can be motivated to be firm with kids. You need to reinforce a healthy Structure for the kids, especially at a young age, when their brains are still developing at a rapid rate, and are still very porous and not yet solidified. You are right they need that balance, to also work with their hands, to engage in creative thinking and a healthy imagination or creativity, using tools or sports, or other tools. They also need human engagement, to be emotionally intelligent and aware. There is a need for direction. please go to Utube and look for this documentary, "Season 1 Episode 3 - The Ghana Family | World's Strictest Parents" 1 Like

Number one problem of children in this age is television set, I hate children who always gaze on television uncontrollably, such a child don't study even when they do they don't pay attention and they are always distracted. |

Whoknow: This is actually the opposite if u engage it WELL.... There is rather, a vacuum in the life of anyone who didn't grow up with TV. Television was like internet+ encyclopedia to us before the internet actually came in.... Almost everything I know now( including love for cartoons( lol), geography/info etc) is from T.V |

Technology is indeed a necessary evil. You just have to expose them to age appropriate information Tablets can be set to age-appropriate content, and only age-appropriate information will show up on their YouTube. You cannot teach them everything, so these would help them a lot to learn a lot. My daughter learned a lot by watching shows online. When I try to explain some things, she will just say that she already knows lol NetFlix can also have several accounts. I also do not suggest that kids should have parents' passwords and have access to adult content. There are so many things that these can expose them to. They can also download and communicate with people without your consent. If you cannot monitor your children and their access to content, it is CHILD NEGLECT and exposing them to contents inappropriate for them is BAD PARENTING. You might not pay for it now, but you might pay for it in multiples in due time. Joannebassey: |
