Good day,
How do I Retain your passport while my UK visa application is being processed & assessed. Is there an option for that? If so, how do I go about it.
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by 9ger: 8:04pm On Apr 25, 2023
Yes, There is an option for that "Keep my passport" you can pay for that on the day of your biometrics.

Daniel2802:
Good day everyone, I just applied yesterday for the UK Visitor visa (paid for Priority Service). I intend to stay for a month in the UK. The purpose of the trip is to visit a friend and also tour the country (there a couple of places I've always wanted to visit since I was a child). I have appointment on the 20th at Abuja.

These are the documents I have uploaded so far to TLS.
Passport Data Page
Account Statement (I have a closing balance of 2.7m, however I get paid through crypto via Binance and I am thinking of attaching my Binance deposit document)
Letter of invitation (from my friend which explains where she works and our relationship with her brp attached)
Employer Letter (I work with an international company while resident in Nigeria and I strongly helpout for their Africa outreach initiative)
Family Pictures
Family Company Registration (I am a stakeholder in my father's company)
Personal Statement (expressing my purpose of travel which I stated above, it explains my role in my father's company and also the other company I work with, I am also a core team member for a tech community in Nigeria and it requires me being physically present most times)
Hotel booking (booked a week in the city my friend stays, in the visa filling I already mentioned I'll be in her city for 1 week then I'll sleep at budget-friendly hotels in the city I tour)

So my fear is since I get paid in crypto, the inflows in my normal bank account is based on how much I sell from p2p. However in my 3 months account statement, there has been a consistent inflow of big sum, which has been increasing monthly. I also freelance and work on gigs which I get paid in crpto majorly due to the ease of receiving money through it.

This is my first time applying for visa and I am a first time traveller. Is there anything else I need to do? Also do I need to book a return flight or it doesn't really affect the decision?

My application got rejected despite the numerous documents I uploaded. It's quite tiring and from the refusal statement, it's more like the ECO didn't read the letter because I literally explained the source of the funds.

As regards the inactive status, it's my father's business and I asked him if the person who did the registration is still keeping it active and he said yes.

As for the cover letter for huge deposit, I literally told them the truth. That's how I receive money as I have to rely on P2P from traders to change my money. There's really nothing I can write again unless I want to lie which I can't.

I always try to be modest with my feedbacks but i do not think you did well by holding to the information your dad gave you.

You could have just confirmed here https://search.cac.gov.ng/home

That been said, the issue with large deposits is unexplainable because this is the area ecos hammer applicants mostly.

Subsequently, operate a very simple account with lesser transactions.

My honest input.

Thanks for the feedback, wasn't aware of the CAC link.

I guess what I'll do it to keep an account where I make regular, uniform deposits. Then use it for anything application.
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by hunee: 12:52am On Apr 26, 2023
Infact.
That is the best.
Irregularities in income and expenditure can confuse ecos.
Open an account for the purpose of visa applications only.
This is what i believe alot do.

In any case, run the account like a salary account, avoid excess transactional inflows and outflows

1. Cac of another person’s business not needed. Now the worst case has happened as the business is inactive
2. Cover letter does not in any way substantiate the origin of funds. The english the eco spoke is clear. Its not about what you wrote in cover letter. You had several deposits from unknown sources ie. no evidence of where all these monies are coming from. No eco will give visa that way. They will not even touch you from afar.
3. Lastly I see its all crypto way you said you got your money in your cover letter… again hard to prove source

1. Noted

2 and 3 I get paid in crypto, they could easily have contacted my employer to get clarification on the source. It's already done, I'll just have an account that sends money to me regularly in a different account.

You really had no business forwarding that if it's not a business you run. You are supposed to be an employee of the company. Complicating your employee status with claims of the business looking like a family business will only cast aspersions on your genuine will to travel and supposed consequences in the ECOs mind that might follow with regards absconding from work beyond stipulated date grin

For home ties
Did you forward a stern letter of casual leave? With resumption date stated?

I work remotely so I wasn't really on leave but I forwarded a letter from my employer informing the embassy to assist me in my visit visa application. It didn't state a leave and time duration. It's not claims of the business looking like a family business. I submitted CAC and details that showed I'm a stakeholder in my family's business, this is asides the letter from the other company I am employed in (2 different documents for the two companies).

Next time I won't be adding the family CAC. I mentioned it earlier on my initial post and when I posted it no one pointed it out. It's when it was rejected that people are now pointing it out (I understand I'm not entitled to any response here, everyone is just helping out as they can). It's fine.

How true. Because i initiated a pta request in March , i was allowed 4kusd. I am not in doubts tho, i will verify with my account officer and correspond.

Hello.

How did your march application for PTA go? Was it successful? Also what bank? Thanks
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by AmeliaT: 10:47am On Apr 26, 2023
My advice is that you quickly find another location to travel to. If indeed the narrative of a trip to reward you for hardwork is true, then ideally your dad would be sending you elsewhere. Please try placed with more lenient visa processes such as Morocco , Egypt, etc and after sometime reapply sharper! All the best

I understand how u feel and even though the ECO didn’t state it there are other reasons why they just don’t believe in ‘you’
Its a guess thing they do.. trying to guess who will return or not and unfortunately your documents and the whole feel of your application were not convincing enough to them hence the refusal. U also state u didn’t have a leave letter, this also shows how the whole thing looks..
how will the embassy assist u? If you are employed, at least they should be able to say they have no objections and you are on leave.. it’s because of how things work in the UK and I’ll like to add should work… then u say ur company pays u in crypto.. the probability of your genuineness was not well transposed to them. Sorry.
Find another location and do your travels to as it was a reward from your father. That way even when you reapply un the future, your travel during this time will serve as an alibi to your statement now. It would show ooh you really did take a trip that was a reward..
then learn more about where you are going, in your cover letter I didn’t get the feel of tourism at all.. u made general submissions about why you chose the UK.. nothing to hit at the interest of the ECO that ohh this one has researched so much and is dying to take this trip.. this is only my opinion. All the best

I need you to spevifically respond to this.

If one get to that part of the form,

That says.

How much do you personally intend to spend in the UK?

If the applicant is not adding 1kobo, should they enter the amount the sponsor is commiting?

Please clarify this aspect, because i noticed it confuses people alot here especially the ones applying with Sponsors

You need to keep things simple. Work out how many workplaces you will want to disclose you earn income from and stick to it? (Although I think this ship has sailed)

Getting angry that you were ignored up until you had a rejection isn't going to help solve anything. We are prospective applicants and past applicants like you, and frankly some of our opinions at the end of the day won't hold water.

The onus is always on you to clearly explain your circumstance without reasonable doubt

So sorry for the refusal. To be honest, your financial affairs are quite complex - at least to me.

Unfortunately, the visa officers hardly calm down to fully understand many things presented to them. They form an opinion very early and it takes a lot to change their initial opinion. Some people have commented already so I won't overflog the issue.

Personally, I believe holiday for one month is too long. What exactly will you do in the UK for one month? Especially as it's your first time. You planned to stay with a friend for one month? Doing what exactly? Next time, I suggest you reduce the duration of your holiday to maximum of two weeks. I usually insert 10 - 14 days in my visa forms. It gives the impression that you have more important things to do in Nigeria and can't afford to stay in the UK for too long. Good luck next time.

To clean up your finances, just open another separate bank account and make that the one you will be receiving only your alleged income from your disclosed work where you are an employee. Forget all this crypto lodgements you are doing you will have to use your dad's company to be paying you your monthly contractual salary from the company's bank account with the name of the company clearly visible in the transaction as the depositor. Frame up a nice letter headed employment letter showing acrued salary per annum and basic salary per month after tax.

The crypto lodgements can continue to accumulate in your own personal account and you can be giving it to your father to dump into the visa bank account you are building on a particular fixed day of the month as indicated by your employment letter

Do that for 4 to six months then apply again.

It's not about not telling lies. You can frame up a white lie to better improve your chances to get this visa. Alot of ppl here lie from how much we earn per month to relative rising cost of dollar to how long we intend staying in booked accomodation in UK when you reach. The important thing is to lie well.
