CapitalCee:Man Utd is a brand, bro. Not a business type of football. Hence the likes of Glazers can't think very well. Look at what happened to Barcelona when they stopped developing and using their academy players and started buying rubbish 🤦🏻 Unless we want Man Utd to turn business club like Madrid and City. If the Qataris buy into the club, it will be good but at the long run? My main issues is interference of the board. On why Maguire is still in the club still baffles me till now. And oh, I agree with you, we definitely don't need an exhausted Kane. That time don pass. We need aggressive forward players that can do a deep play like Tevez, Ronaldo and Rooney type of offensive. Damn, the good ol' days. |

afrodoc2:Doc, when did I say being debt free is anathematic? Tbh, I want these guys to sell. Let’s see what a new ownership can do to the club. Interestingly, it can go both ways. Dem new owners can get it right almost immediately, or things become f’ed up the more. It’s not risk free. |

timay1:I think you are talking about Ona Batlle. She is one of the ones that came in to replace the mechanical/unintelligent players. Apart from her attacking play she is also very good defensively. Our defense is actually our strongest point. World class GK, 2 very solid FBs in Blundell and Batlle(with Batlle probably world class), CB partnership of Turner (tall, experienced), Le Tissier (young athletic). What I meant in my initial post was that Zelem, Toone, Galton are the key players that came up from the lower division with the club. Millie Turner at CB too. The other key players have been added over the past 2-3 seasons replacing inferior players. |

afrodoc2:Doc why is Alessia Russo refusing to sign a new contract? |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc2: 11:19am On Apr 29, 2023 |
TrebleChamp:Who knows. Likely wants to move to a more established club. Alternatively might want more pay. Women footballers are not loyal like that. Many of the stars move club every couple of years. |

nitrogen:What God cannot do does not exist. I would never have expected to see the day you would deny your “debt is very good” policy. You as much as said that being in debt was wonderful and that the Glazers did well buying the club and putting us in debt for the first time in decades. You actually said they did great by putting us in debt. That is why I defended your honour, and said you would never accept this Arab bid with its ridiculous notion of not having debt. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by nitrogen(m): 11:49am On Apr 29, 2023 |
afrodoc2:I did not at any point say that being debt free is not a good thing. Yes, I said debt is good because it gets owners to be up and running, lenders will always be on the necks (on behalf of all stakeholders) of the management for performance. We have seen lots of organizations well run because of optimal debt levels. Of course, too much of it is bad! Again, having a cash rich Arab family or investor as owners does not guarantee success. There are lots of examples. Infact, the American model of business ownership and management has been and will always trump other models. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by nitrogen(m): 11:54am On Apr 29, 2023 |
@afrodoc, kindly note that the clubs you believe are debt free are actually not. The owners borrow at holding company’s level and make it seem like the club is not owing. The fact is, lenders have decided to give money to the holding companies because of the quality of their subsidiary companies. The clubs still owe albeit indirectly. Man City is an example! |

afrodoc2:what we get from the boys most of the time is a hopeful square into the box from such positions. technical players are necessary. this is why I don't agree with all the anti Ten Hag comments recently. we will improve squad quality over time. we need owners that are willing to do the right thing, not people who do subtle money laundering jobs. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by nitrogen(m): 1:17pm On Apr 29, 2023 |
Leyqute:Nope. I said ‘debt is good’. I did not say ‘being debt-free is not good’. Don’t try to negate my sentence! |

This Shea Lacey is a bad boy. I expect the Under-18s to be much better next season. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 2:27pm On Apr 29, 2023 |
Bombblacks:No, it doesn't. Bayern, Madrid, Arsenal, and others sign players who are not superstars in most cases and they go ahead to do well. I know what I am saying. I mentioned Danny Ings here 3-4 years ago and guys here laughed off the signing but this same club signed Ighalo, Cavani etc. In the same period, Ings scored more goals compared to the ones we got. It's less risky to sign 2 players for 50m each than a single player for 100m. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Bombblacks: 2:36pm On Apr 29, 2023 |
patrickmuf:It applies to all big clubs. We have also signed players who are not superstars and performed well. Top clubs will always go for established players. The same way you are complaining now is how arsenal fans are saying why didn't they sign Caicedo for 6million when he was in south America instead of the 80million Brighton would want currently or Chelsea fans saying why didn't they sign Enzo from River plate for 20million instead of the 110million they paid. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Bombblacks: 2:45pm On Apr 29, 2023 |
Ray07:They are performing because of Pep. Guardiola is the reason City are dominant and consistent season after season not their board same way we were dominant under Ferguson. Carry those same players to United and their performance levels will drop. You will start blaming the board for buying them and wasting money. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by nitrogen(m): 2:58pm On Apr 29, 2023 |
Bombblacks:I don’t know why what you said is difficult for many people to understand. Chelsea bought over 15 players in less than two seasons, but they are closer to relegation than anyone thinks. If City and Utd swap players today, of course Utd will do well initially, but overtime, performance will drop. It is what it is! |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by nitrogen(m): 3:00pm On Apr 29, 2023 |
The team is a function of the manager first and then the players. There are managers that will use average players to win trophies. |

afrodoc2:I won't even be too much bothered with Russo leaving. Her numbers are not even elite for us to be worrying. Even an Old Rachel Williams will replace those numbers with ease, if she was a starter for us. My major concern is Ona Batlle. You can't replace that kind of quality. She's a unique player. But the dumb people at the club where only focused on the English player because of the PR nonsense |
