Wishful thinking grin

You probably think the white man is like you people that are never serious, talk less of knowing how to govern yourselves.
You know nothing. I will bring up this your quote when they return him to Nigeria and it won't be up to 2yrs from now.

She's currently on dialysis
The UK will let her get a transplant if she sees a donor...but it must be free and willing...

That's why they call it Donor...
Okay sounds cool.
Thanks.

It's clear you have no idea this is a landmark ruling. I think the Ekweremadus are the first to be tried and convicted under the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

*THE TRUE STORY BEHIND SENATOR IKE EKWERAMADU IMPRISONMENT IN UK*

SOME LITTLE DETAILS YOU DID NOT KNOW ABOUT IN THE EKWEREMADU CASE

By Emeka Ugwuonye, Esquire

David Ukpo Nwamini is the 21-year old Lagos street hawker who was to give his kidney to Ekweremadu’s daughter IN London. When he was interviewed at the hospital in London, they asked him if he knew he was to donate his kidney to Sonia Ekweremadu. He first told them that he had no money to donate. They explained to him that it was his kidney that he was to donate. He asked them what was kidney. Initially, the doctors thought it was a question of language, since David’s English was not good enough. However, they eventually understood that David didn't know which human organ was called kidney. In other words, he did not know what organ he was to give Sonia. That led the doctors to conclude that the procedure was not well-explained to David & that is the umber one requirement by law. According to the law, you must explain to the organ donor the procedure & all the health risks associated with the procedure. It is only then that the donor is taken to have informedly consented. When the doctors found that David didn't understand what he was about to get involved in, they declared him a mismatch.

The term “mismatch” is a technical generic language to indicate that the proposed organ harvesting has not met all the requirements. Many in Nigeria have misunderstood the term “mismatch” in this case to meant that David’s kidney was not suitable for Sonia. No! There was nothing wrong with David’s Kidney. To donate an organ, the facts must match both the law & the science governing the procedure. While the kidney matched the scientific requirement, the facts didn't match the legal requirement. So, it was declared a mismatch. To help you understand it better, the term “mismatch” means there is a discrepancy.

The doctors who interviewed David did not & could not have determined that a crime was committed. The doctors didn't have sufficient information to reach such conclusion then. They felt uncomfortable with the discrepancies in the information they had about the donor & his decisions & whether he had made up his mind. For instance, the doctors didn't get involved in how David was brought to them or whether he was paid. It was not their duty to deal with that. It was actually when Ekweremadu & Dr. Obinna attempted to return David to Nigeria that the problem started. David expected that he would be given a job in London as he was told before he left Nigeria. They didn't give him a job & they didn't send him to school. Instead of all he was promise, he was asked to prepare to return to Nigeria David ran away from the house where he was kept. As hunger wired him, he reported himself to the police. To win the immediate protection of the police, he lied about his age by telling them he was 15. It was when he was interviewed by the police that the information came out which established that a crime was committed. For instance, it was at the police station that they asked him if he was paid money & he said yes he was paid N270,000. When the police checked the WhatsApp chats between Ekweremadu & Dr. Obeta they realized that Ekweremadu actually paid 4.5m for Obeta to pay to David. *But Obeta only paid David N270,000 & pocketed the rest.*

In fact, Ekweremadu tried to keep himself away from certain details of the deal. That was why Ekweremadu never discussed money with David. In fact, he didn't deal directly with David. That was what made it possible for Obeta to cheat him. Ekweremadu believed that the 4.5m went to David. But since he was not dealing with David directly, he never knew that Obeta pocked most of the money. However, the law viewed Ekweremadu’s decision not to deal directly with David as a typical behaviour of a big man who knew that he is getting involvee in a crime. He would usually try to create some distance between him & the crime, yet he will be funding the crime from afar. Otherwise, how come you never wanted to meet the boy that is giving his kidney to your daughter & whom you called cousin to your daughter (which actually makes him your nephew)? Rather than see the non-direct dealing as evidence of his innocence, it was seen as deliberate or willful ignorance aimed at evading legal responsibility.

One of the key factors that worked against Ekweremadu was that he lied. On three official documents he signed, he stated that David was Sonia’s cousin. But in all the WhatsApp chats he had with the doctor & his own brother over the matter, he referred to David as “that guy”. Hence the question: “You knew he was not Sonia’s cousin. While you signed that he was her cousin, when you wanted to say the truth, you referred to him as “that guy”, meaning you didn’t know him or even remember his name”. Ekweremadu admitted in court that he lied and apologized.

*NOTE:* I decided to provide these details because I have read somewhere it was being said that David misled Ekweremadu & took advantage of him. No, David is a real victim. He didn't manipulate them. He was manipulated by Dr. Obinna Obeta, who was working for the Ekweremadu.

*LESSON:* Politicians learn to avoid syncophats, Dr Obete was the syncophat that distroyed Ekweremadu.

If the Devil presides to have his way by declaring Tinubu substantive president, and as some people love criminality and impunity over their penury and squalor, they should rally round to mandate Tinubu to hand over the rein of governance to Ekweremadu after the rigger's ill-gotten reign has expired.

* Sighs *
...life!

I remember this Sonia girl from way back during our elementary school years, and later, high school. She used to have this sort of muscular body physique. How she became fat and lost all that muscle still surprises me.

When she got to the UK for college, she was mostly hanging out with white girls, just like her elder brother who used to be my right hand man (we were in the same clique, and like best friends (though I didn't ever admit I believed in the best friend concept) )
Mehnnnn, Lady Beatrice, was so soft-spoken and humble in those days. Very easygoing and you'd even think she was shy and didn't like attention. I remember how she would come to pick them up when the academic session ended, in their dark gray 504 station wagon. She used to smile and wave at me whenever I came to the car with Ike Jr. A beautiful woman in those days. Has always been light skin radiant. Her daughter on the other hand, was slightly darker in complexion. I don't know what made her to bleach away her skin tone , which most of us are tempted to conclude was part of what caused her kidneys to fail.
Partying and alcohol (use to see her online uploads with friends ) weren't left out of life in uni for her. But still, it's not possible that she drank the most, compared to others. So, might not be entirely blamed on drinking.
I'm still feeling bleaching pills or/and body lotions may have contributed to her kidneys dying out at such a young age. Junk food too, might be another culprit, seeing how she gained noticable weight. She used to be athletic, with some muscle mass.

I heard Prince Charles might give the parents a royal pardon. Oh well...would be good, at least, to help the daughter cope through her illness. Stress can further detoriate her health. The aim is to keep her alive, in the end. Such a lovable girl, caught up in a controversial mishap. Awww

I'm still not understanding one part. Didn't the supposed donor cum victim know what he was being taken to the UK for? Or is he making up a different story ?
I wonder if they were going to obtain both his kidneys (meaning he would have died anyways) or it was just a deal for one of his kidneys. Some said Mr Ekweremadu had written to the UK authority about bringing the boy over for a kidney transplant . If this is true then, should they be sentencing him ? Or, were those just made up stories that he had informed the authorities prior to the boy arriving, bla, bla, bla... ?
Omo, don't know what to believe self.

Anyways...it will serve as a lesson to others to use the right channels in securing donors for whatever organ is needed. It's not as if he doesn't have the money to even pay for a kidney legally ooh. I wonder why he went the cheap or easy way. Naija is naija , any day. Lol

Be strong Ike Jr.
I know he must be staying off the radars now...the shame would be too much. It's been long time he hosted any abuja parties, the usual way he used to. Haven't even seen his traces off or online, for long now.
Lol..big man life isn't easy too

Kidney transplant is not something you just pick someone on the street for. There will be series of checks and test. I pity him as I would sny father out there. But as a naija politician I don't pity him, they deserve that and even worst.
