After going through heartaches associated with doing businesses in Nigeria...

I just woke up one morning and decided enough is so enough. I bought my ticket and left.

I swore never to return to Nigeria
But I started to change my mind when Obi contested and hoping he'd win for a better Nigeria....

Now that high neck has selected a drug baron I changed my mind again...

Sorry grin grin grin

Why can't you guys just keep silent and let people that have the answers to the OP's question answer him?

This is what you can never find on other forums abroad.

Good thread.
In some other forums abroad like quora etc, you will only see people that the topic of discussion concerns making comments on the topic, commenting and giving their views and opinions,
But for our darling nation, na people wey no know anything about the topic of discussion go dey comment upanda, disturbing the cyberspace with irrelevant rubbish that the 'main' people won't have any space to make their reasonable contributions....

People keep silent and learn from Nigerians abroad...but for our ogbonge nairaland.com, you people can't resist commenting rubbish.

Travelling abroad is not advisable if:

1. You don't have any legitimate business or student admissions there.

2. You don't have a plan on where to live or who to stay with till you get on your feet.

3. The money that you have is not enough to sustain your plans.

4. You have something doing in Naija that you're eating from or earning money from.

First time to join my mum in uk as a child,

Second time via permanent residency to Canada with information gotten on nairaland.
Cost of processing was around 1m over 1 year because i wrote ielts multiple times looking for high scores. Flight cost was 1.05m because it was during pandemic and airspace was locked.. We chartered airpeace to togo, from togo we entered ethiopian air for about 970k. Flight was funded by exchange gains. I converted my savings to dollars a year before and resold it 😋

It's quite annoying, and really shows how education is wasted on the average Nigerian youths of today.

Whether it's via scholarship, sponsorship, marriage, dependant visa, work visa, student visa

Kindly tell us how you were able to make the money you used to travel abroad. The job or business you did that helped you raise the money for your relocation.

Pls be sincere, as someone out there might be of benefit to the thread.

PS: Pls kindly stay off if you don't have something meaningful to contribute other than discouraging those that wants to relocate.
Went through study routes. Cost like 5-6million with ticket money. Since I came to Scotland I have never regretted it. Did wifey visa who joined November. Left with project as course work don finish. Worked in hotel and sainsbury store. Money I make a day is more than I make a month in Nigeria working as a teacher with 150k that I realized from school and lesson. Bottom line is if ur not lazy and don't mind working anywhere then UK is the place to move into.

In the early days of crypto, I buy and sell on the currency thread on nairaland. I was able to save around #6m between 2013-2015. I left for the UK on a student visa via information on nairaland. I worked hard to offset my bills, switched to dependant visa afterwards, got an NHS job via info from Nairaland. Relocated to Canada via the PR route through info from NL and telegram groups

Travelling abroad is not advisable if:

1. You don't have any legitimate business or student admissions there - If you don't have things going for you in Nigeria and you can get to a "better" place (meaning more opportunities) then move. Legitimate hustling will get you sorted out. It might be tough to start but time and effort will bring result. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

2. You don't have a plan on where to live or who to stay with till you get on your feet. See 1 above

3. The money that you have is not enough to sustain your plans. - How much money can you have? If you have enough money to sustain your plans, no need to japa for hustles sake

4. You have something doing in Naija that you're eating from or earning money from. - If this is you, hustle in Nigeria to better yourself. Abroad is not all roses and the struggle is real

@OP - I was lucky to japa in 1994. B. Sc. was done and I was posted to Sokoto for NYSC, my brother gave me his passport to japa instead of NYSC. Hustled in UK for 3 years and then moved to US. Was not all rosy but all my group of friends from 94 have made something of themselves for away (I mean like 40 of us) 1 passed away and 1 no gree progress but UK / US has been good to us

Nice. But for the bolded, I couldn't relate anymore. I'll appreciate if you can drop more hint.

I'm working on travelling with my wife next year via working visa. Europe to be specific. I don't really fancy UK. My younger sister who got married to my friend are in the UK. My younger brother is in the USA.

I'm considering a small country in Europe who's a member of the EU via working visa.

I've done some research, I don't know if you can share some advice too.
