I dont knowabout Lloyds but you download First Direct bank app, open an account with them. You then switch one of your current account. Pay in £1000+ to your new account after the switch is complete and wait for the bonus to be paid lightofjoy: 1 Like 1 Share |

Lexusgs430: Same as teaching. About a decade ago, they brought back direct training in the classroom again. Certainly going back many, many years ago, doctors trained as apprentices. Maybe they're onto something... Medicine and Dentistry are a few of the courses you cannot get a student loan for and have to be self sponsored 1 Like |

hustla: I wouldn’t switch Starling if I were you. It’s one of the best challenger bank accounts to have. I find their debit card very useful for holiday travel and for online shopping abroad. No fees nor commission charged on withdrawals/foreign transactions and you get a guaranteed Mastercard exchange rate at time of transaction. |

I didn't want to comment on the matter, but generally this whole rent is dead money talk fit put people in trouble... Mortgage is beyond deposit fees.. you still have other fees to pay.. Also, there are other heavy financial costs like renovations (if it applies to you) and then eventually the cost of fixing anything that happens in the house while you live there which you won't necessarily pay for if you were renting as most times, the landlord will fix it. Lets not even talk about the Interest rate (that will increase yet again) which has made mortgage payments even more expensive than renting. Yes, owning your house is Better than renting because it is yours, and you're not paying anyone.. but Please be ready financially.. it is deeper than just having deposit money Please lets educate ourselves before going on that journey.. find NL threads on mortgage especially from people who just did theirs recently.. I come in Peace Lexusgs430: 5 Likes |

Ticha: I agree....at least the gov beginning to think outside the box to solve the crisis. The high student debt puts a lot of people off studying medicine and dentistry, if they do not have family or other funds to support them. This way they can earn as they learn and hopefully get more british doctors and nurses trained up. 1 Like |

hustla: Not true. It'll only impact your credit score negatively. I don collect natwest and first direct and I'm waiting for RBS to pay me next week but I've lost about 40 points on my scredit score so far and I'm sure I'll still loose about 20 more but no shaking because I know it'll bounce back 1 Like 2 Shares |

UK and Nigeria are not the same. It’s wrong to equate London to Lagos, Sunderland to jigawa,, you’re not helping yourself…. electricity, water, internet, jobs etc are everywhere in UK. You don’t have to move to the north and start looking for jobs. Apply to jobs in the north or remote/hybrid first, and relocate if you get something with good pay. Choking yourselves in London will only restrict your growth. People in the north are using half of your London 6 figure salary to take care of their families and get on the property ladder. I’m not trying to debate, just open your mind and spread your wings. 11 Likes |
