What gave the tomato soup that color ? Is it the Basil?I was thinking the Basil would’ve make it green and not light yellow

It'd be porridge if you use normal yam but can never be Ikokore..

How to cook Ikokore Ijebu

Peel the water yam...rinse and grate it using a manual grater..and set aside


Wash and cook the meat .fish...hide and skin


Extract the protein from the stock and add the blended pepper into the boiling stock with the locust beans..allow to cook for few minutes


Start making a dough of the blended water yam into the boiling stock/pepper

Allow to cook for some minutes

Add enough palm oil.and add the extracted protein..to the water yam...(do not cover the pot on fire?

After a while...turn with a turning stick and taste for perfection.



Your Ikokore is ready to be served with cold eba

but it’s very filling. eggs and avocado are high in protein and fat so can be very filling in small quantities

It's Ijebu or nothing , you made a great choice ma'am. God bless your marriage . Mumsy been wan use ikokore finsih us that year. Any small ceremony, ikokore go choke . I could cook it flawlessly with my eyes closed then .

I don chop am too that year. E get one macaroni/ pasta wey dey here too. To cook am dey tire me cos na straw true true. I fit use am drink juice normally. Eating it is also a problem of it's own cos when you try to suck on it like normal spag, air passes through the opening so it doesn't move. See attached.
