Independent marketers are the most dubious business people in this country .
A pronouncement was made and no date was given for implementation and boom, they've increased the pump prices but if a pronouncement was made for decrease ,they won't be so fast to change the prices hinging their actions on old stock.

People are quick to blame government and not necessarily sees the wickedness among the masses. Someone frivolously announce that subsidy is not included in 2023 budget yesterday, and today these wicked elements who has petrol of less than 200 per litres in their stores start selling it at exorbitant price.

People would rather ignore these people reckless attitude but keep blaming government. Why can't this marketers and filling stations wait till the implementation of this policy before taking their dubious actions. Even before now, there are no filling stations selling at normal price. Some195/litres and some sell as high as 220/litres, and you keep wondering if they get the same oil at different price.

One thing about some of you is you support what ought not to be supported, I don't know, whether because of ignorance or self deceit or blind support. Should inadequacy of government be heap on the masses always? Government always throw their burden on the masses on the premise of being clever just by half. Even the blind and deaf knows that the amount of fuel claimed to be consuming daily by Nigerians is false, which they collect subsidy on. Please what stops the government monitoring that one first and punishing those riping the country wealth? No way we would not go from fry pan into fire because the corruption is so endemic that if not checked, we may later buy fuel at #1,000 per liter and you know what that means, ripple effect. Prices of goods and services will skyrocket and inflation will be all time high.
Secondly, why is it so difficult to fix our refineries for years? Government yearly play lip service to revamping of the refineries and shift their burden to the downtrodden for no reason. If the countries they are taking our crude oil to don't make their refineries work, would they take product to go and refine there? There's need for government to do first thing first than dancing around their failures. We need to tell ourselves the gospel truth, the economy is not smiling at all. People are carrying enough burden, that to eat is a serious thing, now a government just inaugurated inflict another round on the already saturated poverty. Let us see what will happen in the next few days.
I am surprise that people are giving backing to this kind of thing without recourse to the impulse of the downtrodden and how they would survive. Make the refineries work and the issue of subsidy will automatically fizzle out. This is just the common sense. They should strive to make all our refineries work and also encourage modular refineries to be licensed for proper monitoring to ease the burden of crude oil refine. This is not rocket science. Eje ka fo te si le, ka ye pa lapa lapa. No shortcuts to truth in the journey to freedom of the masses.

Subsidy has been doing all that and it’s time to let go.

Let me ask u, because una can support rubbish, obi, atiku all aspirants spoke on removing subsidy, it’s no big deal.

U don’t have to rush into something because it look good on paper, what are the plans put in place to damper the effect, because price of all commodities will follow suit hope u know, Abi u think say na just fuel.

Subsidy is to reduce the cost of crude product production, if removing subsidy is the only way they know how to reduce that cost then they are very stupid like we have taught.

We don’t have working refineries, why not put them to work first.. one in south and one in north(which will also provide employment)

Whe that is done, the cost of production will definitely reduce and the amount use to subsidize the cost will definitely reduce because we no longer import our own product bur we make them in house.

If need still be to reduce subsidy, then 1st year of administration you can cut of 25% percent of it and watch how the economy indexes react to it.

During this period we already know where to put this money, area like health and education and not politicians stomach.

2nd year u can remove another 25% of the subsidy, and hopefully the next administration can remove the other 50% within their 4yrs …

It’s a gradual process, u don’t just pull the plug in a party on something this sensitive…

But what do I know, Tinubu and his supporters think alike

My challenge with our people in position is that they do a lot of pandering to the public.
Information that should be communicated to the stakeholders directly, they will carry microphone and do public announcement. You cannot send such information to 200million people and not expect panic, hoarding and people taking advantage of others.

The CBN did same for Naira redesign. Instead of talking to the banks directly, they were busy issuing circulars upon circulars to the public, causing panic, hoarding of cash by people, endangering the banks staff and banks assets and empowering people who would take advantage of others. Now that the whole thing failed, CBN has gone mute and we are no longer seeing circulars flying around.

They have 24hr electricity throughout the entire country but here in Nigeria, the laundryman, barber, tailor, head stylist, chemist, bet9ja, beer parlour, churches, mosque, hospitals, welders and so on all depend on power from their generating set to run their day to day businesses.

Even if the price of petrol is $.55/Ltr in the US, that's basically 10% of the daily minimum wage of a worker in the US assuming they use 10Ltrs of petrol everyday and don't forget that they have good roads so they seldom go to the mechanic shop.

In Nigeria, minimum wage is N30,000 and price of petrol is N500/Ltr, that means a worker in Nigeria will spend N5,000 for 10ltrs of fuel to go about his day to day activities. That's about 15% daily of his monthly income not factoring the fact that a car owner must visit the mechanic at least once a month

Which alternative does diesel have? Can a lorry drive with petrol? Can a kerosene stove suddenly use gas?
