Even if all refinery’s are repaired, fuel will still be selling at close to international market prices. It won’t reduce price to current selling rate.

Subsidy has been doing all that and it’s time to let go.

You can't be refining your own fuel and bothering about international prices sir.

You people just talk nonsense out of partisanship! Lol! grin

It’s a sacrifice we must all make. No going back!

The amount that has been siphoned through that program is enormous.

What should be on the table is the how funds will be channeled into programs and infrastructures that will cushion effect.

The funds that have been available since haven't they been siphoned. What makes you think this will be any different. All the returned loot we've gotten what were dey used on? Say what you want about subsidy but its the only single thing that the government has done for years that has actually benefited Nigerians. At least if it was removed during GEJ time when the economy was alot better it would be understood. But not now. Not in this mess of an economy

Now it has been removed you are saying its a sacrifice we must all make. Its because you have enough funds to make the sacrifice nain make. So many people are struggling with the current price of fuel. Imagine when it all goes belly up how do you want them to sacrifice? By dieing or stealing? Putting into consideration that the increase will cut across everything from food to even pure water. I remembered how pure water prices were increased from 170 to 250 which was attributed to increase fuel prices here. Imagine what will happen now.

The money will never get to the people who need it most. So whats the point? Isn't it not just wickedness?

Really?
What of the amount that has been siphoned through other means that has no direct benefit to the Masses?

Why discard a product because of a correctable defect ?

So the can't manage it?
The corruption can't be stopped?

Its not even about the corruption that goes on, it’s about the impact on our finances. That the major thing.

Do you have an idea how much we subsidize in monthly basis, you wouldn’t want to know.

Subsidy should be removed and minimum wage should be increased. That will have a direct impact and not just few scamming the whole country.

Are the refinery’s going to get free crude? What about cost of production? Did you factor that, it will be more expensive to refine in Nigeria considering our infrastructural woes?

Can you tell us the postive impact of subsidy removal over kerosene and diesel, asides availability which i suspect is because of low demand .. any progress in that sector.

All those blowing big big grammar then that competitive market will drive prices low, did that happen, , all the savings from diesel & kerosene subsidy where is it

Nigerians are terrible, selfish, inhuman bastards that even the surest economic theory won't work here, that money FG is trying to save on subsidy, they will steal and share it nii.

I expected Tinubu to have approached the fuel subsidy with more consultation or caution, because unlike Diesel & Kerosene, Fuel has no alternative.

Price per liter in Saudi Arabia is $0.62/liter. Are we paying that much in Nigeria? That’s what subsidy has been cushioning.

It’s time we step up!

Ogbeni, what do you know about what comparative figures you are trying to churn out?
Do you make economic comparisons in isolations?
What is the minimum wage in Nigeria as compared to Saudi Arabia you mentioned?
What is the standard of living in Saudi against Nigeria?
So assuming Minimum wage in country A is $5,000 monthly and that of country B is $1,000 monthly, you expect it is fair that pump price should be same in both countries?
How can you be comparing Nigeria with Saudi Arabia for goodness sake.
Una be mates?
That's a country where systems are working perfectly with the govt working for the good of the citizens not Nigeria where the govt is there to loot and plunge the citizens into doom.
Ogbeni, reason with your head not your butt.

We all agree that petrol subsidy has to go, but to remove it as his first executive order is very cruel and insensitive. Given that he is struggling with credibility issues, and his government is not popular to begin with. The new government should have waited until Dangote Refinery comes on stream and making sure nepa gives at least 16hrs of power per day before removing subsidy. Now I hear price of petrol has jumped to N700 per litre. How are we to run business at N700 per litre, that means we will use N12,000 to run our generators everyday. By how much can we increase the cost of our goods and services?
In the space of one week, power rates increased by 30% and petrol increased by 500%, while salaries remain the same. How are businesses and citizens going to survive?

You have had over 20 years of democracy and trillions of profit in Oil exports to sort out those issues!

Such excuse is incredibly obtuse and unacceptable!

If you wish to be decisive, be decisive all round!

Cut cost of governance for starters, check corruption, and see if those issues won't be half way solved!

Making masses suffer while the elite politicians keep milking the nation dry is pathetic and amusing!

Well, the masses actually deserve to suffer IMHO!

You are still thinking?

The owner of the refinery and everybody who knows anything about the sector tells you that Dngote refinery alone is able to meet Nigeria's production and export.

But you are here still thinking it won't be enough.

Then PH refinery is supposed to come on stream. Then Bua is building one in Akw Ibom, but yet you still think that it won't be enough?

na you no dey think....
isnt dangote a capitalist....??
why the hell would he dump his product in nigeria and earn less than dump it around surroundin countries and earn more....??

think about that....
dont await fuel price to decrease in nigeria....

what you dont understand is,the crazy amount of demand for fuel in the entire world....
in europe, fuel goes for nearly 2euros per liter....that is around 800naira....
where would you sell it....??

Hmmm.
I think some of you people just support any govt policy without even having an iota of understanding of the intricacies behind and around the policies.
Just like most of you jumped behind the cashless policy without understanding that it will definitely fail if some necessary modalities are not on ground to enable it succeed.

Yes, Subsidy is a Fraud that needs to go. But in removing it, there are necessary modalities that must be in place and on ground before removing it otherwise the move will be counter productive.

Ironically, the GEJ govt made a good move to remove subsidy and came up with a feasible template and roadmap even provided structured palliatives and transport buses nationwide but Tinubu and Buhari mobilized Nigerians against that move.

It would be counter productive to remove subsidy without the refinery functioning to capacity and palliatives such as buses for Transportation.
High prices induced inflation will kill Nigerians.

How can it be profitable for a nation with minimum wage of N30,000? How can it be profitable for a nation where over 70% live on less than $1 per day.

It is only profitable for government workers, afterall Emir Sanusi said he did not know the price of petrol when he was CBN governor. A he knows is that his car is always fuelled.
