The thing is that if these app owners raise prices at the same pace as fuel prices rise, they risk losing clients, and when they do, it will also have an impact on the drivers.
Airline increased their fares by over 200%. In fact at a time an average Abuja to Lagos flight costs 100,000 naira. Guess what? People still flew. Here in Abuja bolt/uber fares are so cheap even your local pepper seller can book a ride for 400 naira. In saner climes this is meant to be a luxury service. Private cabs is for people who can afford the luxury. If you no get money you can enter danfo or keke.

If the price is right, with 3-4 trips person supposed don close dey go house. Not where you see someone driving for over 13hrs! Just to hit target. Na modern day slavery we dey so.

Big no! And the thing still remain drivers are the big f**l here. On the other hand it is understandable. Indrive is using this as advantage to gain more riders, obviously this price won't work. Infact prices are low compare to what we usually do. By now there should be no more trip as 1k again.

I won't argue with those saying do as you like if everybody off app and leave 5 persons to work, they will obviously come up with the best figures in the world. Let all drivers gear to work and you will understand better.

I can't buy fuel of 15k and be picking 1k trips, drivers are just being stupid. Walahi!

Actually, I have discovered this thread is 90% lazy drivers, part-time drivers and people that aren't even in the business.

Arguing with them is a waste of time.
One would ordinary expect serious and genuine questions as to how to achieve success in the business, or just copy what they see. But no, na to sitdon dey press phone they talk "it's not possible", "it's not profitable"
They have been complaining since 19kokoro, period within which serious people have saved and travelled out, some have built houses and big busineses, some have multiplied their fleet and all manner of good reports from ehailing.

Fuel price is just another talking point and excuse for them, devil dey beat drum for their head and them dey dance to the rhythm. Within these 4days someone has made 80k driving with the same price increase, but some people have parked their cars, and are home crying and wailing, some say they are still observing. grin some say it is a rat race undecided some say it is running like a headless chicken lipsrsealed some say it is moving lagos up and down cry
Well, as our faces are different so are our challenges and destiny. Make everybody do wetin dem like with their life. Not stressing myself to proof anything again. But I will still be here for the people that really want to work and succeed in the business, I only pity the people that will be deceived to follow the ones that are secretly working and making it while discouraging others on this platform.

Oga you won't blame them, I'm a part time driver since this fuel increase, the only rides I have done is when I pin my home address and take someone to that area then go home.
I had some fuel this morning and I said I should top it with 4000 fuel. I came out around 7am, can you imagine the trips I did(Four trips) till around some minutes to 9am, my fuel was back to where I met it this morning. Guess how much 4100. Are you playing? I've not paid bolt their commission o. Location is Abuja.

So you won't blame people that are not driving this period, like this in owing bolt, profit of 100 is what i have made.

The sad thing is that there are Judas and saboteurs amongst us. Who think they are making more money this period. They are the one spoiling the business for reasonably thinking drivers.

The thing is that if these app owners raise prices at the same pace as fuel prices rise, they risk losing clients, and when they do, it will also have an impact on the drivers.
The problem with the black man is lack of deep thinking.
We can't see beyond our noses because of poverty majorly, we are just looking for what to eat today, not thinking of tomorrow. That's why we sell our natural, mineral and agricultural resources for peanuts only to buy back refined and finished products.

Nobody things of repercussions and ripple effects or look at the big picture. I have said it before, if the App companies make the fare such that a driver can potentially make 100k daily and no Rider is requesting nko.
Which is better? Guaranteed 20k or Possible 50k. Raise price, raise price, raise price...that's all we hear but forgetting that if price is raised to d amount that is okay by us, then demand will automatically drop. We even see it happen practically when there is surge. How many people patronize airport taxis today?
The answer is simple, if the service is too expensive, it will be abandoned by those that can't afford it, and in Nigeria today, that's about 70% of our current Riders.
These are some of the hard truths, if I talk they will say I am an agent, with double mouth, but the reality is if we think like a business owner, we will have less quarrels with our CEOs.

They don't want to loose clients, but they can hold on to their 25 % commission.

8k fuel now is 16.1litres
There's no where you can gross 40k with 16.1litres

Cox that 40k gross

You must have driven for nothing less than 200km
And corolla consumes 1litre of fuel per 6km and dividing 200km by 6km will give you 33.3itres of fuel and 33.3itres of fuel now is 16k+ so you will need 16k+ fuel to get 40k gross now...

Before the hike that 33.3 litres was just 6k....

Even on bolt, with 8k fuel(488/l) which is about 16.3litres of fuel, can't gross you 40k except there's high surge like 1.9 and it will still be hard to gross the 40k, Maybe 30k is possible.

Let's break it down, from ikeja(maryland bus stop)to ajah underbridge is like 45km
And 45km divided by 6km gives 7.5litres of fuel and if you take trip from Maryland bus stop to ajah under bridge on 1.9 surge, the highest estimate will be 15k, let's now assume you take to and from on 1.9 surge which the km to be covered will be 90km, and you must have consumed total 15litres of fuel, both to and fro must have given you 30k gross and you have just roughly 1litre of fuel left in your car. And 1litre can only cover 6km distance, and 6km on 1.9 surge can't give you more than 2500naira...
Do you know the consumption of Camry Big daddy per km . Thanks in anticipation

So, yesterday (Saturday), I grossed 45k with 30L fuel.
Though I bought the fuel I've been using @184 before subsidy removal.
Now, it is obvious that definitely, 30L fuel will grosss me 45k on weekends (contrary to when fuel was @185 that I could use 30L fuel to get 35k).

ANALYSIS

Before:
Fuel 30L x N185 = 5,550 (tho, I normally buy 6k)
Indrive commission = 3,500
Total = 9,050
Gross = 35,000
Net = 35,000 - 9,050
Equal = 25,950

Henceforth:
Fuel 30L x N490 = 14,700
Indrive commission = 4,500
Total expenses = 19,200
Gross profit = 45,000
Net profit = 45,000 - 19,200
Equal = 25,800

Time and energy input seems the same.
I don't normally use weekdays for my analysis cos weekdays are a rough period that require more strategies (for me). Sometimes, they come easy, other times, they come not easy.

Much respect, bosses.

I no dey argue with you. Every means of income is reasonable. Even shit_packing. There was this man that his logo was "shit_ business is serious business"

Nigeria has happened to everyone. The reality of it all is that bills must be paid. When people realize that everything is about paying bills, they'll restrategize. For now, make everyone dey play first.

I bought fuel yesterday 15000. Total gross 56000 commission 5300.

Net 35700.

Nobody on this thread can ever give me 35700 in 15hrs if I ask for it. Today I'll go again. I have above half tank. By the time I'll buy fuel again today, I may not even use it till tomorro's hustle.

Make Dem dey complain. Me I don strategize dey cash out. I've paid all bills for yesterday. Will pay for today. That's all it's about.

It's when you realize that nobody cares about you on this thread, maybe they'll restrategize too. I go dey wait. But for now, make we dey play. grin
