tuzle:Shut up and use your brain. Those leaders go abroad for treatment because of trust issues regarding their political opponents’ influence over hospital staff etc, not because they don’t think they can be treated here. And we do have good education here with many universities ranked above some universities in the western world. So rid yourself of your wretched inferiority complex. |

savcy:It’s not a rare case, very common. The truth is that, Nigerians abroad don’t tell people back home the truth. Most never know what they signing up for till they land. |

Quintopia:Anybody that wants to return is free to return. This shame thing you guys always say is not true. If you save up some money abroad and wants to return you can, and nobody will shame you. You can't tell me that the returnee can't save up money to rent an apartment and even start little business. Provided you are not coming home to beg nobody will shame you. Also, Nigeria is a very big place, if prior to traveling abroad, you lived in Uyo, you can relocate to asaba on returning |

Nonsense talk.who told u those running abroad sre not doing well.in Nigeria we are merely surviving,no electricity, no fuel,no good roads,no good access to medical. U are more likely to die early in naija than abroad. |

DMerciful:Mumu. Are you aware that 70,000 people are shot dead in America every year? Do you know in America someone can just walk up to you and shoot you for no reason? If they tell you the number of Nigerian cab drivers that have been shot dead in New York City just because the passenger got to his stop and didn’t want to pay, you will be shocked. |

Me I want to japa because I love adventure. I want to taste another country. Every country has its challenges but Nigeria carry first for challenges. True, in the abroad, there is gun violence in America, bitterly cold weather, wild fires, etc in other places. But in Nigeria, we have: Insecurity Disfunctional system High inflation Lack of opportunities Disfunctional educational system Endemic corruption Severe environmental pollution (slums gallore) Bad roads High level of miscreants UGM in east, boko haram/ISWAP/bandits in the north Cabals controlling different sectors of the economy Terrible business environment, etc, etc, etc I am tired! I want to try somewhere else. |

Abi1985:Please list the incentives of remaining in this country when you are financially secure. You can jakpa and have your business in naija managed by trusted family members and employees. But you see quality of life? It's something that when you are financially secure you start to consider. Security, good infrastructure, good schools, job prospects for your kids, sane economic environment, sane tax regime(no multiple taxation), no LASTMA, no Agberos, no fuel queues, no Power issues, SYSTEMS THAT WORK. These are things really lacking in Nigeria at the moment. |

The poster is correct to a very large extent. If you earn a steady legitimate monthly income of 5million naira and above in Nigeria, please do not Japa to start life afresh. Instead you can combine the two if you are married by sending your wife and kids abroad while you stay back in Nigeria and visit them as often as you can while running your business in Nigeria. It is insecurity that scare most in Nigeria, and my little advice is that if you are earning well in Nigeria, move to a very secure private estate, don't buy exotic cars, make use of clean cars that won't raise too much dust of your status, limit your night movements, don't travel a lot within Nigeria. Setup your working office within your house or a place not too far and make sure you don't move around often. Always drive or move around with a close person like a PA or relative or something |

Abi1985:Even to this day people are being kidnapped in USA. Kidnapping is not headline news anymore because of the mad gun violence there. Many japa cases are senseless. Someone told me that on his first trip outside Nigeria, he saw a security guard at a supermarket in London who he recognised as a former lecturer at a federal University who joined the japa train. Chai, from a decent job at home to mai-guard! |

Quintopia:see the excuse u gave for politicians seeking medical care abroad and u said I should use my brain. Also mention the universities for me pls that can compete with universities in USA, Canada, UK. Even south Africa universities rank higher than all Nigerian uni. I don't have inferiority complex, I accept the truth and the truth is that we can't drag with any first class country in any of those things I pointed out |

Wait make you or your relatives get sick( Not my portion in Jesus name is no cure… cos you have no medical family history) Kidney dialysis will cost like N150k/session.. so 3 session are recommended in week.. ( Go ask Ike Ekweremadu. How many people in your lineage are loaded $$ like him?? NONE So 150k x 3 = 450k in a wk x 52 wks in a year=N23,400,000.00=N24m/yr without medications/doctors visit/nutrition and care. How many people in your village can pay N24m/yr to be alive None.Good luck dying slowly with your small change lol |

Wotoporiously speakingYou have no business telling people how to go about their business, as this your assumption is baseless to me, only people without plans in life take clueless steps without acknowledging the advantages and disadvantages... Whether you're doing well in Nigeria or not, relocating is not ruled out, whoever wants to relocate, let them and whoever wants to stay, let them, as I believe they've a concrete reason for doing so. |

Quintopia:This talk about shame preventing people from returning is bogus and exist only in the head of people saying it. In my 7 yrs abroad, I'm yet to see any naija who wants to return but shame is preventing him from doing so. People are actually returning, lots of them are coming back to set up business, monitor and invest in Nigeria. The difference is very few relocates permanently. They come and go, and that's the key factor that people like u dont understand. Nothing like shame anywhere. |
