I got a job as a hotel manager some months ago.

The hotel is a bit far from my house and I spend an average of N600 on transportation daily and the salary is 45k per month. Right now I'm fed up with the job.

The director is a man who doesn't take advice from anyone. He insults me at will and he says I'm stealing his money, even though he has no proof. I always leave the scene whenever he's around because he always has something to say and insult me at will even when I am not at fault.

He has gone round telling everybody that I and the bar man usually connive to steal his money which is completely false. The worst part is that he always threatens me with sack.

If not for the fact that I have kids to feed I would have resigned. I usually have this feeling of fear whenever am leaving for work in the morning. Just this morning he deducted 12k from my salary just because the security man resigned and went away with a student matress.

Right now I am in real distress because I am just so, so sad.

I just need some words of encouragement/discouragement because I am gradually loosing it.

kip enduring, till u get a better offer. most hotels don't pay up to dat. the hotel way I once work pay the manager 30k to 35k. I was paid 15k to 20k.dem never pay at when due. they believe we do stole from them&give out rooms for short-term. manage till u get another job wey go dey give u peace of mind. What I enjoy about the hotel job is tips and customers relationship, I meet a lot of people has a bar man.

Between Wednesday and today I've been ridiculed, insulted and bullied more than 20 times by the MD over very minor issues which is fault of mine. I have made up my mind I'm quitting on Monday before I develop high blood pressure.

This is slavery job. You work 7:30 am to 10pm for 45k as a man with kids?? How do you live on such chicken change. My advice is that you leave that job and focus on getting another. Except you’re making some money from the side. If all you get is 45k, I don’t see that as a job.

Bros am d same situation with u as a hotel manager, this is d same shittt I face from my MD, especially if the MD is a stack illiterate who end up in primary 6.they don't want your progress at all, they feel paying u such amount they're doin u a big favor. One of the reason some manager don't like working in a hotel where the MD spend most of his day at. Imagine me a manager washing bedsheets, cleaning room just because the MD refused to buy washing machine and housekeepers don't stay long due to d stress of working but he derive pleasure in bringing different ladies to the room. Me my hardwork and loyalty is not for free

One thing people do not know is that most medium scale business owners find it extremely difficult to pay salary. Whether the business makes sufficient profit in the month or not. The moment it is salary time, that is when they realize that the are the devil's " next of kin".

A few days ago, a woman wiith a shop being manned by a sales girl sacked the innocent girl. Wetin happen you might be tempted to ask.
The innocent girl has a monthly esusu that she pays with her monthly salary. Esusu man came on June 7. Girl took her salary from sales she made for the contribution. Madam owner came and said the girl should not have taken out of her sales because June 7 is not too late and that " some of her friends pay their workers on 15th or 16th of the month".
Can you imagine?
People beg madam employer, she said NO.

Things dey happen and most likely, employees in this type of employment will suffer more in the nearest future.
That was what one woman is doing close to where I buy clothes from, she pays her sales girl in the middle of the month and her reason is that a lot of sale girl likes to leave after they collect their salary month ending but if she pays them middle of the next month, they might decides to stay to collect that month salary and so on and on they will keep staying.
She said even if the sales girl decides to leave, it won't affect her because they have worked an extra 2 weeks for her.
Some business owners are wicked

Never you share bad feelings you have about your boss again anywhere. With this attitude no one can employ you. I thought you would limit your write up to the low pay and exorbitant transport cost you are facing.

Feeling bitter about your boss and venting it only paint you with negative personality.

I am just letting off steam. You don't know the humiliation I go through on a daily basis. To make matters worse he's sleeping with one of the receptionist- a girl of 18. This girl has become something else. She has started acting like a small madam, refusing to do things I ask her to do.

Most hotel workers sleep at the hotel after closing, why is yours different.if you are sleeping there you will save transportation cost of 600X30=18,000

I also understand that hotel workers are capable to taking some booking money of people who checkout on time or came to lodge.if you succeed in collecting the money of 4 clients in a month assuming your hotel lodging fee is N5000 a night. That will cover for your transportation cost, why is your case different ..

These 3 businesses will help you get daily income and make you hate that your 45K job.

1.drycleaning business
2 Keke napep business
3 POS business

Find a way to start any of these.
Initially, I was sleeping there but he started accusing me of sleeping in the room - something I've never done because I usually sleep under the staircase. It was then he told me to be going home after closing.

OP u better start stealing from him with the barman. If he sells drink for 500 per bottle, go and buy them outside for 200 and sell your own since him no wan get sense. Start allowing short-timers in the hotel and pocket the money. He will eventually sack you so take all you can from the wicked boss.
