Irrespective of the type of floor, 3 inches is too small for the thickness.


You can use 3/4 inch granite size for floor.

Oga mi, if I have the money I can invest in power generation . There are a lot of private company generating power and sell to estate , hotels in Lagos I have a project in Lekki and they contacted one independent power supply. They promised to give then minimum of 23hrs power supply daily. But the problem is that the cost of KWH is x5 of what you will get from EKEDC or IKEDC. But the good thing is that you will enjoy constant power supply.. There is no need of using generator at all .

Even recently Ikeja electricity distribution company have increase their charges .. they didn't notify the consumers . And this increase came about 3weks ago.

30unita is now 5000naira, whereas 50units was 5000naira a month ago.

The cost of setting up a 1MW gas generating station is going to be a huge amount ..

Yes it is, hence Power biz is not for the faint hearted. U need a deep pocket (most banks would not finance a power project due to the regulatory bottlenecks) and connections at high places.

Before I left Nigeria, I was doing the ground works of building another power plant in Lekki axis. I am sure some of the costs I had use for the project financial analysis must have skyrocketed by Atleast 50% ( Forex 70% of your materials would be imported, clearing costs, regulatory approval costs, inflation, finance cost, staff costs etc)

Yes, the cost would be really huge. 1 megawatts is equivalent of 20 of those regular bank type 50 kva generator. With an average solar panel having just 300 watts, it means one would need about 3334 solar panels to generate 1 megawatts.
Look at this figure,
If one solar panel is #100k, therefore 3334 would be #340M.
Other equipment not included yet.

Yes you are right . It might be more if we want to go by your calculation. The cost of battery alone will be around 750m .. The recent price of 1MVA caterpillar generator is over 150M . The gas type should times two of the diesel engine

I have a brand new 1.25mva prime / 1.375mva stand by Perkins generator . Not used , still not decided if to sell , paused on the installation when diesel hit 800+ And the 1mva was still serving

Funny thing was I considered getting gas generator before I purchased this diesel , space constraints and other stuffs forced my hand , capex was much higher than diesel , but you gain on the long run cos running cost is cheaper

You are right at the bolded, there are so many factors to consider before embarking on buying a gas generator. Power generation is a long term investment where one might take circa 4years to break even.

1MVA, that's for factory . The diesel consumption would be much at full load. But if you have 33KV high voltage line it will help you alot. Running diesel engine 8hts a day with that capacity of generator is not economical at all. If you connected to 33KV grid line, at least minimum of 20hrs power supply a day

I think they are worth it on the long run considering the fact that the battery could be exhausted in full cycle and still last for 10 years.
That's like 20 to 25 years usage of the regular acid batteries that shouldn't be depleted below 50% of it's capacity to last a couple of years.
