Now it's confirmed that Nigerians are mad and have a pattern.

I remember just like yesterday in 2015, this same question was asked on this same nairaland and it made frontpage too....when buhari took over power. Now you guys have started again.

Who did this to Nigerians grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

Except you have a non-inverter AC that is on 247, your units shouldn't be dropping with such speed. At the same time, be grateful for that prepaid meter. Without it, you won't see light.
Really

Now that the governorship election is very close in Bayelsa state they started giving us light for 12hrs a day. But before now it was 6 days a month

There's cold na, no one would leave AC on during this period unless he wants to have severe cold.

I have a Haier thermocool deep freezer which I use to store liters of soup I order for or pay someone to cook for me, packs of food I buy and loose appetite in eating, chilly chicken I buy from spar...etc, and a skyrun standing fridge which is basically for water, cans of malt and juice. Problem is I leave both of them permanently on 24/7.

Maybe that's why my prepaid meter keeps dropping, or maybe "IE" has secretly increased their Tariff.

Yes, its the fault of distribution companies. They refuse to buy transformers needed for distribution. So, power is diverted elsewhere.

To President Tinubu:
โ€ขThe present DISCOS are deceptive and are covering too many Areas and Regions - you need to relieve them some and that is the Only way,we can have breakthroughs in the Lights and Power Sectors!
โ€ข Also, let there be Bank that will Fund Power- for the - New Comers & New Companies that wants to go into this business but govt must provide leavege for take- off, unlike what we had during past regimes, where bush were everywhere, for Independent Power, that never took Off,but they deceived Nigerians! Very Corrupt Sector

NEPA no dey take eye see rain for here. Fiaam, they will take the light and it will take time before they restore it. But when it's not raining, the light is usually stable.

Men to be honest it has improved, like seriously improved. We had light for 6 days at a stretch without blinking. Before they took it and brought it back almost immediately.

The only problem I'm faced with now is that my prepaid meter's units is horribly dropping each day with reckless abandon. embarassed

Power supply has seriously improved on Lagos mainland. I don't know for other parts of Nigeria.

Do you live alone? Are you sure no one is stealing energy from you? I have a running battle with the kids because they cannot manage data. Where I will manage the whole day with under a gb, they enter the house and in 2 hours they have blown through 3gb.

It is the same thing with power. Leaving things like iron on, for instance

Tariffs were increased. Maybe that includes yours. Please check when next you buy. Mine was increased by almost N20 per kWh.

Problem is I leave both of them permanently on 24/7.

It is not a problem. Naso e suppose be. I don't turnoff my refrigerator to conserve units. The only thing I always turn off are the lights and that is because I am photosensitive. We can only hope for more money to buffer the economic times we are in. grin

This is just the normal cycle. It's the rainy season and power supply will be high. It's been a trend since 1999.

We can only judge the performance during the dry season

I live alone o. I just noticed that recently, it's been dropping faster than usual. My best guess is that IE has increased their Tariff.

abeokuta is a mumu place I shouldn't lie, I have been in my aunt's place for the past 3 days and they have not giving them light for once when humans are still awake. It is in the midnight around 2 or 3am they bring the light and they will take it before 6am. I had plans to do some work on my laptop but I couldnt even do half because of the way they give them light.

I'm shocked too. Power supply has improved in my area too.
Same thing happened during PMP first few months after inauguration in May 2015.
Power supply is deliberately sabotaged by some corrupt entities. If not how come this sudden improvement in many places after PBAT inauguration?

The way some Nigerians dey take reason sef. So na today rain just dey fall abi?

He actually has a point. During the peak of the rainy season, the temperatures fall and people use much less electricity. If you don't know, for most middle and upper middle class houses air conditioner consumes bout 30 to 40% of electricity. So when that demand goes away because the weather is cool, it means there is more electricity to go around.

Also electricity conducts better in cool weather. So asides from the demand reducing, the stability of the grid also improves because electricity conducts better, so it's a double beneficial impact.
Re: How's The Power Supply In Your Area? by juman(m): 5:40pm On Jun 11, 2023
From what I learnt from power situation, new president should be progressive in thought in handling the power sector.

Power transmission is weak and cannot handle all power generated.
Hence the excess power should be allowed to be transmitted to the immediate environment where its generated.
This is important.

How do I check that. Cos I buy mine from my Kuda wallet, and they'll send the pin directly to my registered mobile number from which I'll use to load into the meter.

So I wouldn't know if they've increased Tariff or not, what I know is that ever since light became stable, my units has been going down faster than usual, way faster.

That has always been my prayer. For my income to triple (if possible) so that I can continue living my life as if nothing is happening in Nigeria.
