FG included Councils. And PCN means Pharmacists Council of Nigeria. So doesn’t that mean PCN council is among those removed from subsidy? I await your answer.
PCN is a very federal government regulatory agency that also performs the role of a professional body.

Anyway, let’s wait for further clarification from budget office on the bodies that would be affected.

It is Ibos people that are hell bent on messing up Nairaland..

Nairaland was a decent forum when I joined years back until Ibos invaded it and turned it to something else, due to their inferiority issues.

Professional bodies too were subsidised?

My God, I know the govt is corrupt but if they did subsidised this much, them the govt would bleed.
The president should cut off all form of subsidies apart from education and start investing on new ideas.
all subsidy removal without cutting cost of governance is a sham.

Like I said I am not denying Nigerian leaders loot and steal

But even if they did not loot and steal, we have a low tax to gdp ratio of 10% which can't sustain a welfare program like social security.
Yea I know understand you perfectly,
Had it been they were not Looting, I and most other people will be happy to pay these high taxes

One important question Nigerians are not asking is thus . After removing these subsidies can the government give us both short-term and long-term plans on what to do with all these funds realized from the removal so we can monitor the judicious use of it?

Or they are just creating more funds to be embezzled.
More funds to foot their bills, wonder why we heard of 114% increment proposal of public office holders while there are no such proposal for civil servants.

Nigerians will learn and have sense one day
Re: Subsidy On Professional Bodies Removed by optm(m): 9:42am On Jun 28, 2023
Be ready to pay for their services at exorbitant amounts.
You need to have an empowered people before cutting off services.
The problem of this country isn't in subsidizing certain services but the corruption while doing it.
Secondly, removing these subsidies makes more monies available to the govt but to what use? More looting i presume.
How have you utilized the monies available? Are they well accounted for?
The masses are the ones making the sacrifices even though majority are poor but you keep your allowances at an exhorbitant amount still and you want us to believe you have the interest of the masses at heart. I am no fool

Which health is subsidized and by which govt?

In Lagos to register for antenatal is cheaper in private hospitals than public.

Government is subsidizing health and Nigeria has high rate infant mortality.
the money generated by those hospitals is not enough to pay all the healthcare workers in those hospitals. That is where subsidy came in because those revenue generated in those hospitals can’t pay the thousands of doctors, nurses, pharmacists and med lab workers there with change left for power supply, fuel, maintenance et cetera.

So yeah healthcare is the only sector subsidised in Nigeria.

Next is aviation cos many airports can’t maintain themselves with passenger revenue.

So health and aviation only.

Education has been removed

That is no doubt what the case would be, EMBEZZLEMENT, as usual. It is still all coming back to the poor masses. If as a doctor I spent close to million naira on my licence per year, then what do you expect me to charge you as my patient?? ??
Subsidy removal is a very good thing, BUT we are not ripe for it at all. The poor will suffer die

Nigerians are now seeing why and how everyone is just being hypocritical. We were each bleeding this welfarist state yet pointing accusing fingers at politicians alone.
You are a big foooool. Is it subsidies or corruption in government that has bled this country dry?

Discontinuation of subsidies on fuel, education and now professional bodies will only increase the cost of their services to the same public. Everything government is supposed to do for public welfare is being discontinued and you are here talking rubbish!

Meanwhile no palliative has been provided. Cost of Governance is still business as usual. Ridiculous tariffs at the border are still in place. Minimum wage has still not been visited. No talk on our local refineries.

Psycophant!

ASUU is not a professional body but a trade Union. Pharmacist council of Nigeria is a regulatory agency and not a professional body.

FG has no business funding ICAN, NBA, NMA, ANAN, NSE etc. The people who came together to establish the associations should fund them.
exactly why should govt fund NBA ICAN nawa oooo... Sponsor pple to study abroad yet they won't return... I have always said it give scholarship to pple to study here in Nigerian schools...

How can you say health is being subsidized if funding to NMA has been suspended? Abi your head dey pain you ni ?

What country that seeks to advance economically seeks to remove support to Education in place of Aviation that has pretty much been patronised by the upper class?
