You are a big foooool. Is it subsidies or corruption in government that has bled this country dry?

Discontinuation of subsidies on fuel, education and now professional bodies will only increase the cost of their services to the same public. Everything government is supposed to do for public welfare is being discontinued and you are here talking rubbish!

Meanwhile no palliative has been provided. Cost of Governance is still business as usual. Ridiculous tariffs at the border are still in place. Minimum wage has still not been visited. No talk on our local refineries.

Psycophant!

If he removes subsidy from every sectors, he should be able to increase minimum wage to 150k and must be strictly enforced on all companies and factories...

Just like Judas you have sold your conscience for 12 pieces of silver that you feel would benefit you. However remember how Judas ended. That's is your destiny if you continue along this path openly supporting what is clearly wrong.

Just look at what both of you are doing... Embarrassing yourselves and your entire region!

How many Hausas, Yorubas, Efik, etc, do you see doing such?!!

You SouthEast people are indeed your own worst enemies!
Anambra people are the problem of the SE. They are the ones insulting their hosts in Lagos and giving Igbo people bad name. They are the ones doing drugs in South Africa. Anambra people are the ones calling Ebonyi inferior Igbos. Likewise, Anambra man first started the insult on this thread and called Ebonyi state name, should I applaud him in the name of brotherhood so that non-Igbos will think what he said about Ebonyi is true? Anambra people are the ones shouting Lagos is no man’s land. Ebonyi people are very humble, innocent and believe in hardwork but Anambra people call them backward for doing farm work, hawking, or honest works instead of yahoo yahoo, rituals, and kidnapping like they Anambra people do.

Anambra is the problem of SE and they started the first coup in 1966 and were also the playmakers in the Biafra war instigation.

Even on this thread the Anambra person first insulted Ebonyi man.

Professional bodies too were subsidised?

My God, I know the govt is corrupt but if they did subsidised this much, them the govt would bleed.
The president should cut off all form of subsidies apart from education and start investing on new ideas.
If the government cuts off all subsidized bodies like you suggested, how will you survive in Nigeria? Other countries subsidize one way or the other so the poor can breathe. Some are subsidizing Agriculture so that the common man can eat; education so that only foreigners pay through the nose; electricity so you don't freeze to death during winter. But those who are not heavily subsidizing are paying decent wages and salaries so the common man can access those unsubsidized services. Let's not allow our ethnic and political affiliation to becloud our sense of reasoning. Who will spend all the money saved on subsidy? You? No! It's going to the polithiefcians

How can you say health is being subsidized if funding to NMA has been suspended? Abi your head dey pain you ni ?

What country that seeks to advance economically seeks to remove support to Education in place of Aviation that has pretty much been patronised by the upper class?

the money generated by those hospitals is not enough to pay all the healthcare workers in those hospitals. That is where subsidy came in because those revenue generated in those hospitals can’t pay the thousands of doctors, nurses, pharmacists and med lab workers there with change left for power supply, fuel, maintenance et cetera.

So yeah healthcare is the only sector subsidised in Nigeria.

Next is aviation cos many airports can’t maintain themselves with passenger revenue.

So health and aviation only.

Education has been removed

One important question Nigerians are not asking is thus . After removing these subsidies can the government give us both short-term and long-term plans on what to do with all these funds realized from the removal so we can monitor the judicious use of it?

Or they are just creating more funds to be embezzled.

I believe this question will come after the government has settled the over 80 trillion currently owed to domestic banks, World bank and China/others

Education has been removed

The question is WHY?

Why should subsidy in Education be removed when the sector is in dire of extra funding?

Why should funding for professional bodies be removed when it would have a direct impact on the pricing of their services to masses?

Every year, government reels out budgetary allocations for the year. Do you think government DOES NOT SPEND MONEY on those items in annual budgets or what type of question are you asking.
As a result of subsidy removal, your medulla
should tell you that more funds will be available for Capital expenditure and other items in the budget.

We already know what will happen to the money. A few people will just store in up in graves and tanks and some animals will have more money to feed on.
However, we will know they are serious when they reduces all the allowances those in government offices get.
From the president to the members house of assembly to the state governors and all their likes.
The excess money those people get is enough to feed the whole of Nigeria and pay our debt.
But they will prefer to be collecting 1k yearly tax from car owner which those big people with 20 cars won't pay.

When we going to stop peddling this lie?

USA has a social security system that pays poor citizens every month. The system is well managed to reduce corruption to the nearest minimum and ensure that actual citizens benefit.....this is USA

Instead of going after the corrupt elements we are cheering government for scrapping the entire thing.

Everyone will be alright by the time the full effect come full circle
Let's stop deceiving ourselves to, Nigeria government cannot fight corruption be it PDP or APC or Peter Obi so I guess going after corrupt elements as you said WILL NOT work, the president can pull out such free monies in the hands of cabals like you said and channel it towards creating a social security system for ordinary citizens just as you said. I'm not a supporter of Tinubu but I think I agree with some of his decisions so far.
