Culer:We were interested in Alvarez. So a lot of United fans knew about him. Akanji was a top target of Rangnick. If you watched any of those United podcasts then, there was news about Akanji almost every other day then. |

patrickmuf:And Haaland scored 50 goals for them last season. And they bought him after they won the league. Eriksen was also a free transfer, so what are you saying? Even Alvarez will make a better impact in our football last season than WeGhost. Kalvin Phillips will probably walk into our starting XI since we're so scanty there. |

BlueAngel444:They were not average players. They were top talents at their various clubs. I for one always saw Akanji as a top top player before City signed him. And why're you talking about Philip's Stint at City? When the convo's about their status before their movie. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Culer: 3:46pm On Jun 28, 2023 |
ChristoBam:Top what?! Lol, dude stop capping. akanji was a nobody. You think a business club like Dortmund would sell a top player for just €17m? (Yes, city acquired him for €17m!!) Akanji was just an average CB who Dortmund were willing to move on because they had gotten better CBs at the time.

Culer:I really hate when people do this. Care all about arguing and not facts. If you were chasing facts, you'd at least check when his contract was going to expire. You left facts and brought in isolated posts to continue arguments. *At the time he left, he had just one year left in his contract and was going to leave for free. *He was also asking for double his salary if he was going to renew. Which caused tension with the club. And with the arrival of Sule, it was reasonable they had to move on. You don't even know about the player you're yapping about. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by ChristoBam: 4:06pm On Jun 28, 2023 |
Dortmund CB with one year left in his contract, that's at odds with the club. Na 120m dem suppose sign am na. Smh. |

Leyqute:You are saying this because of the season Alvarez just had. Hojlund is another striker with huge potential but no, we want established names. Will any fan here have supported the acquisition of Alvarez as a second option when Martial is out? Phillips is okay if you look at his time at Leeds but he couldn't earn a place in that City team. If Stone is preferred to Phillips then one can not be wrong if he says Phillip has to prove himself all over again. I just checked to confirm Akanji wasn't signed on a free but then, what will the average United fan say of signing a defender from the Buli? I am certain if Manchester United went in for him the fans would have criticized the move. Dortmund concede so many goals, this thread alone will be flooded with stats showing how poor a defender he is. Haaland though is the real deal... |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Culer: 4:38pm On Jun 28, 2023*. Modified: 6:17pm On Jun 28, 2023 |
ChristoBam:bros, he was an average player. Tottenham want 100m for Kane How many years does he have left in His contract? What about Mount? Yet your club is willing to shell out €60m+. His salary was very low at Dortmund and he was merely asking for a significant increase, Dortmund declined cuz they felt he wasn't good enough. And if you can see bums like sule as superior CBs to akanji, it means akanji wasn't even a decent enough CB to say the least. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Nobody: 5:28pm On Jun 28, 2023 |
ChristoBam:you for one? Wait o who be u, u for be four na. Akanji a top player, bawo, nibo. If una sign Akanji u na for dey celebrate? Philips? I agree he was good, just like bissouma and at times some moves don't favor players but kalvin wasn't some game changing midfielder. I don't see how una go like am when una no even like Fred. Saying they were not average is a lie joor, there was no joy, even pundits only put city for the title because of Haaland. U wan tell me say when city dey sign Akanji and Kalvin u were thinking, treble Pep will win UCL and EPL. This signings lacked the hype and the performance to be a statement signing. Best they were squad signings, like when city signed Gabriel Jesus |

I'm not even thinking about signings, I just want those Glazer parasites to go. |

BlueAngel444:Lmao I called them 'top talents for their clubs', you twisted it and turned it to top players. Were they top talents for their clubs or not? All what you're saying just mean y'all don't know much about a lot of talents outside the ones in the EPL or the ones that have been overhyped for years. To you people, anyone that's not a Marquee signing, is an average player. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by ChristoBam: 6:35pm On Jun 28, 2023*. Modified: 6:50pm On Jun 28, 2023 |
Culer:All these lies😂😂. It's so hilarious. Simple research will show you his refusal to sign a contract was his issue with Dortmund. He said he wanted a new challenge as confirmed by their sporting director. And the fact that you mentioned two English players going for an expensive fee as an example shows your knowledge of football tbh. Who in this world doesn't know English players are bought at premium price? Apart from that, Chelsea and Tottenham can afford to allow players go for free. Compared to a Dortmund. Just say you didn't know about the player. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by ChristoBam: 6:50pm On Jun 28, 2023 |
This thread and so many silly arguments. You didn't know guy was a top talent, when he was signed? Fine. Now you know. Go come dey argue continuously that he was average when he was bought. An average Dortmund player won't reject contract offers because of a possible move to Manchester City or United. Don't be silly. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by ChristoBam: 8:02pm On Jun 28, 2023 |
It's looking like I'll probably be on cruise mode this coming season. The ones ahead of us are making top signings. The only player we're actively chasing that I believe will truly improve us is a fvcking goalkeeper. We're in trouble. |

Where's the confusion here abi na me no see am. ETH has always hinted that DeGea's time's up. ...even before the FA final. He said he'd like DDG to stay, but be can't guarantee him number 1 spot. Then after that, he said teams of these days need GKs who're comfortable on the ball Infact he made the bold personal So, no, he didn't confuse anybody. The thing with the man is he gives hint through the media. He hinted that we'd be moving on from DDG tey tey. But what changed the whole thing was watching Onana perform at the UCL finals. That sh*t fast-tracked everything we're seeing now. |

2h 🚨🇶🇦 Manchester United PLC was about to get sold to Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar, who made a final bid earlier this month. However, internal disputes among Manchester’s owners — the Glazer business family — are stalling the sale. @GFmag #MUFC |

Leyqute:Yes. He was probably more highly rated than Garnacho when he came over from Spain as a goal machine but he has been injured for practically 3 seasons straight, and serious injuries too. I believe he has had 2 ACL injuries here and a 3rd season- long injury. In 4 years here this season was the first time he was fit for more than 3 straight games. It is usually 1 or 2 games then season ending injury. Whatever athletic ability he had has dissipated. There are still a few glimpses of what he might have been but he is no longer the speedster he was hyped up to be. This last season was the first time he played more than 3 games consecutively. I believe the new contract is a loyalty contract from us just to give him time to try to get some semblance of fitness and move him on. |

Once Guardiola signs an overlooked or average player and the player turns out to be very important to his winnings, everyone will be begin to state how they always knew the player was talented and nothing out of the ordinary. But if it was their club that was linked to that player, all hell will let loose. They will know the player is not good enough. All of a sudden, Akanji was a superstar before signing for city. They’ve always known about Alvarez talent before City signed him. Funny people ![]() |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 8:37am On Jun 29, 2023 |
afrodoc:Thanks. He did look ordinary in the few videos of him I’ve seen. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc(m): 8:43am On Jun 29, 2023 |
Leyqute:He suffered a season long injury the first season he got here before really playing any matches. He came beck the 2nd season and played 1 or 2 matches and suffered another season long injury. He came back the 3rd season and suffered another season long injury. It is a miracle he is still playing football IMO. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 9:19am On Jun 29, 2023 |
afrodoc:Well, football doesn’t care about that. You either deliver or you get shipped out. Sad, but it’s the truth. If not, Ravel Morrison would still be here (he didn’t deliver). Do you think Kobbie Mainoo’s injury towards the end of last season stopped him from getting some minutes? Like, if he wasn’t injured, would he have played the Fulham game? |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc(m): 9:27am On Jun 29, 2023 |
Leyqute:Yeah but Mejia’s kind of bad luck is just unreal. He suffered 3 potentially career ending injuries in 3 years. If we just dump him it will be more difficult to attract other talented youth players. We have to show loyalty and help him get back on his feet. It’s not costing the club much anyway. With regards to Mainoo getting minutes towards the end of last season, I am not sure. ETH moves in mysterious ways. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 10:38am On Jun 29, 2023 |
afrodoc:It was a dead rubber game and almost every non-starter got minutes. Fred, Maguire and Garnacho started. Pellistri and McTomminay were subbed in. I think Mainoo would’ve gotten some minutes too. I’m skeptical about ETH and playing young players too. But then Garnacho played over a thousand minutes last season. Must be because of his talent and upcoming star status.
