The Timber ship sailed a long time ago. Timber and Martinez can't play in the EPL. The only way we could have used Timber is as a RB but it seems ETH has decided on Dalot and AWB.

We needed a LCB more than a RCB last season as Varane, Lindelof, and Maguire are all better at RCB, so we were lucky to get Martinez and Timber plus Martinez is the better passer of the two. Timber is faster and more agile though.

Bro from my POV if you watch United games, you would know a Two attacking midfield would be deadly.

Man United won't likely play possession, we will play something similar to Liverpool's pattern of play.

So I think Mount will be an extra to the attack. The defence is okay anyways. Hence, instead of wasting players in midfield all in the name of ball retention, we just put someone that can take the ball forward, create assists and bang goals.

imagine having Mount last season, we would create more chances and utilise the ones that were wasted.

A ball playing goal keeper will create a build up from the back. We will mostly like play attacking football, with counter attacks against teams like city.

Martinez is more tenacious and reads the game better but Timber is more agile and faster IMO. The main issue with Timber is the possibility that this move is coming 1-2 seasons too early or the question of where he fits in. I actually suspect he will see more action at RB at least initially. I don't see him dislodging Saliba/ Gabriel combo any time soon.

Okay thanks for the info.

I'm suspecting he'll come to play as a RB tho. Actually, I'm still at odds on where to fix him but I guess everything will be clearer once season starts

I used to complain about this and one of the first changes Rangnick made when he got here was to switch him to RCB. When ETH came he did the same.

Onana isn't the only GK but the idea is to at least improve on de Gea's qualities that doesn't suit what Ten Hag wants to implement.

Mount provides more edge to the midfield, in the sense that he has the work rate of Fred, the technique of Eriksen, and is very press-resistant.

Eriksen has the technique and is press-resistant, but his work rate isn’t up for obvious reasons. Fred has the work rate but doesn’t have the technique nor is he press-resistant.

If we plan to compete, and win, the Premier League and Champions League, then a player like Mount is needed in that midfield.

ETH knows what he’s doing. Hopefully the players will prove him right in the end.

We could have signed Tonali for the same fee we signed Mount. Tonali is a far better fit for the role.
