Dear Nairalander, i am not happy, i just want to pour out my mind. I got Admission for PGD for Hospitality Management with SELKIRK college since February, deadline for payment was April, due to delay from GTB (Form A wahala) that payment was not made. GTB bank refund my money after 5 months of wait. i contact if January intake is still available for me which was confirmed. i eventually paid the fees using Black Market. After confirming payment, i was told only May 2024 is available, This is really not fair and I'm not happy about this.

Exchange rate is not friendly here in Nigeria

Waiting extra 10 month's!!!

Exchange rate of Naira to CAD might be too high for me

Exchange rate will depreciate my proof of funds

It will devalue what I have as pof.

GOD!

Moyin, I really understand you, unfortunately is the kind of country we have found ourselves. Since you have paid some part of your tuition, you need to apply for SP without delay if the POF is available, it is never too early to apply for SP.
Start gathering your documents.
You need to start drafting your SOP now.
Please any time you need answers, you can always share here for assistance.

Your chances are slim to get into a university for a masters program but to can try. However colleges will accept you with full chest. Seneca college always offer application fee waiver you can look into that.
.

Thanks

Helo I am new to this thread but not new to Canadian travel. I am considering Study route to one of the Canadian schools, but currently I am taking M.sc program that I would be rounding up by May 2024.

My question is, since I am not in Nigeria (studying in Norway) how can I prove show kind of home ties or whatever to back up my application? Has anyone applied from Uk to Canada or any other location to Canada. Please I need help on how to tackle this

Just for the best preparation and planning mode, what are the precise documents that would be required of me to take along for biometrics?

ActivatedDreams:

You will get biometric request same day or the next day of application.
You don’t need passport photographs but you need your international passport

Please go and pick your passport yourself. Do not make any payment for them to return your passport because they will frustrate you. Mine was with them over a week even after making the payment. I had to go pick it up myself. And it did not even looks as if they were ready to send it.

Good day everyone....pls My sister applied for a study permit. After three days, they sent her a medical request. She completed the medical examination after one week. However, they refused her application based on finances, despite her having already paid the school fees. She is now confused about what to do.

Hi everyone, I submitted my study permit application on the 2nd of June and decided to do my medicals 2 weeks after even though I didn't get any notice to go for it. Application has been on Background Verification ever since. I would like to know if there's a way I update my application with the medicals.

Her application is still within processing time of 6 weeks, so no need to panic. Just be hopeful

This is strange. They refused her application after they sent medical request. Kindly order your cbsc notes. Don't even bother reapplying without it. Could be a mistake from their part.

What is the status saying on the tracker?

Has the medical been passed?

Please sign up on the tracker and check.

Also, can you shed more light on the POF she presented?

hello , the flight i planned on booking has layovers in both Turkey and Switzerland , you mentioned that people traveling to Canada should avoild shegien countries,Turkey is an European country so I wanted to know since I have layovers in these two countries will be any problem for me .
ShowYoung:

If you haven't booked your flight already, I will advise you take a strategic position on it and do the following:

1. Change your VPN to Canada. This will make cookies see your location as in Canada.
2. Search around 12am and 4am EST for cheapest flight tickets.
3. Focus on AirCanada, British Airline, AirFrance and KLM.
4. You will be able to book for around CAD 500 and CAD 1,300 if you have CAD or other foreign currency to pay.
5. If you do not have CAD, and you are able to get a cheap flight from AirCanada, they have partnership with British Airlines, they most probably would want you to leave Nigeria on a British Airlines flight because they don't ply Nigeria route, call them and ask if you could come to their office to make payment using NGN, they will charge the official rate of around $1/330. Ask before taking this action.

This is my advice.

This information/method is proven as I have booked a flight in the past for a family of 3 traveling from Nigeria to Canada within 4 days interval between booking date and flight date for just $3,888-- I believe you can imagine how much this would have cost. It would have cost not less than $10,000 as that was what I found. I even saw flight tickets as high as $15,000, $20,000 etc.

Kindly do not take this as an advert or professional advice. I only shared what I know and have tested which worked for me. It may not work for you.

EDIT.
Do not board a flight having stop over in the US if you don't have US visa.

Flights going through the US are always cheaper; do not be tempted to buy this tickets if you don't have the US visa.

Also, if your journey is having more than one stop over in Schengen region, do not board if you don't have visa. You can board if it's just one stop over in Shengen region.

You can pass through the UK and the Ireland without a visa if you hold a Canadian visa.

If you have layovers don't be afraid, provided you don't leave the accommodation provided for you by the airline, you only need a transit visa if you want to enter the city of the country you are transiting

Please house,
Who has gone through the passport submission and collection by a courier service. Does it take time before the passport gets to one? I was sent a mail on the 22nd of June, that my passport has been sent out but I wasn't sent any tracking ID nor have the courier service contacted me.

I chatted with vfs today and they maintained the passport has been sent out but the Abuja team hasn't sent tracking ID to them to forward to me. Does it mean they sent it without a tracking ID and why haven't it gotten to me after 8 days...?

Please whoever knows how to process works should please help me explain. Thanks

Have you gotten your passport yet?

Please which courier service did you use?

Can I use DHL to send my passport or it must be UPS??

Good morning everyone.

Please can I send my passport through DHL to Abuja for stamping?

I am asking because I saw somewhere recently that it is UPS they are using. But it is DHL I have around me.

I'm determined to start my Canada journey.
I've HND in business administration 3.1/4.0 CGPA.
Do you think I should apply to a college or can I apply to a university.

Can I study for masters with HND?
ActivatedDreams:

Firstly, why graduate diploma and not Masters since you graduated with second class upper.

Secondly you don’t need to complete NYSC before you can gain admission to any institution in canada.
