i never add comments to this topic because a lot of statements are emotional and not data driven.. so no need a lot of beer-parlor driven statements and arguments.. generalization is a scary thing.. people just come here and make all sorts of emotional statements.. the funny thing is Data will never lie .. will never take subjective bias.. Data isn't emotional either You come to a country and want to tell them how to run their country Even the most useless countries in the world have some form of immigration control to protect their citizens, economy and culture Nigeria, with its red economical index scores and at one of its' lowest FDI moments still has immigration control.. our visa is also hard to get. i know about this personally.. We come from a country where one can't even do a simple task like voting in an election because the political leaders have said if you're not from a particular tribe, you will get killed or beaten if you appear at the polling booth ... common man.. and you're complaining about another country making laws protecting its own people? Am i affected by the IHS increase or ILR being planned to be extended from 5years to 8years qualification? Yes i am.. But will i now use emotional arguments or beer-parlor talk about Immigrants contributing more to discuss this? No... when I know every country has the right to protect its citizens and control who comes in/goes out.. Lets focus..... Peerielass: 12 Likes |

Please I need advice on how to handle this situation. I am a student, and I work in a home. I have been away from work for 6 weeks now because I got internship role in an engineering firm. The internship is to last for two and half months. In order to keep my job at the care home and not break the 20hrs visa rule, I took a one month unpaid leave. It's 6 weeks already, and the care home has been calling asking me to resume. I told them I may not be able to resume immediately, that I have course work and assignmentz I need to complete. Please how so I handle this. |

Hi. Do we pay this fee when we go for capturing or how do I go about it? I have capturing for this month and I don't know whether I am to bring along the £40 as cash or buy a postal order from the post office before heading for capturing. heroshark: |

Not too late. I’m on the verge of leaving my current employment, I read this article and I can tell you that my current employer is guilty of the the points raised including that of substandard accommodation. Make I no just talk wetin people eyes dey see for this youkay. Infact as I type this, I am being threatened to pay a sum of up to £8000 upon resignation very funny. Even though I am a member of Unison which my employer has no clue about and I have a private employment lawyer, this article will open the eyes of a lot of care workers in this same situation and hopefully the government might be able to do something about it. harddrive2012: continue with ICAN and convert to ICAEW without exams but u need about 5year post qualification experience. But instead of waiting for 5years, immediately you are done with ICAN convert to CIMA. You will be required to write a case study and that will be all. I dont think they do that post qualification thing for CIMA. 3 Likes |

Just a little update for people who studied Masters in the UK. Try to pursue Civil service role, both AO role (administrative officer) and EO role (executive officer ) role or above if you are very good and with lots of experience. AO doesn’t require experience (might be easy to get in with this), not EO requires experience experience (a little bit rigorous) A full time permanent role in any of the two can offer sponsorship to people who studied in the UK, because you guys are allowed to be paid 70% of £26,200 (requirements for sponsorship). Have a living testimony of a friend who was sponsored with AO role (£22k salary). Meanwhile, you just need to keep trying and trying, hopefully something good will come out. Also, be on the lookout of some department writing it explicitly that they will not offer sponsorship, don’t bother your self with those, only 1 or 2 in 15 adverts says this from my experience. Just google CIVIL SERVICES JOBS, Filter to Administrative officer and executive officer role, permanent, full time. Would advice AO roles first then try EO. You will only be accessed based on what is written in the job adverts. When writing your statement, Make sure you includes lots of scenarios that applies to you, even if you’ve worked in care, it doesn’t matter, use the STAR approach. Don’t feel ashamed putting care in your cv, probably put it as part-time or full time role, which ever applies to you (my opinions on this is that sometimes employer want to know if you actually had UK working experience (UK work ethics, such as punctuality, reliability and such)), it’s not only about a direct Uk experience but also, they might want to know if you already have experience about UK work ethics. But reduces the roles and responsibilities to like 1 or 2 if it’s not relevant to the position you are applying to. Another friend was told that she did not have any UK experience yet, she said she has done care, she was asked why she did not include it, since then she has been including care, (now she’s also in another IT company anyway) Say, you apply for a role that requires adhering to data protection, confidentiality etc, you can actually chip in your experience working care (such as care home, NHS, etc) 25 Likes 6 Shares |

Would also advice if you don’t have experience using excel also, you can try get your hands on it learning it. Pivot table and charts , formatting in excel, filtering sorting, performing simple calculations, some formulas such as vlookup, index&match, right, left, xlookup , etc, (don’t need to memorize just know how they works and when to apply them), I understand sheet, workbook, navigating within excel and some other simple task, not complex, just for the sake that if you aware being ask question on them you will be able to say something about them. Don’t bother spend time learning vba or macro My previous experience in one of my past role was that companies already have their procedures to follow while performing task, you just have to follows the set processes, I was marveled when I found other ways of using index&match which is totally different from what I’ve used it for in the past. I really benefited from this thread, most especially the motivations I got from people here in the past. 20 Likes 7 Shares |

Goke7: I don't understand what you guys meant by get other visas? Having other visas (which in most cases are visit visa) will not save anyone from the UK immigration wahala if the time comes. You can't use those visas to immigrate or even work on those visas. I have a long-term US visa and Schegen visa (Swiss issued) yet they are absolutely useless for immigration purposes. Except you plan to travel and then turn illegal immigrant. 10 Likes |
