Throwback:you all are mad.. does ghana go on strike, do they write jamb or all the nonsense screening that nigeria does... and do they pack students like files into lecture hall.. nigerians are the most easiest people to decieve in the world. no wonder your leaders take you guys for a ride.. see as the'yre just comparing the prices without comparing the quality and you guys are drolling... i even see you guys comparing UK, and U.S studying to Nigeria.. since it's cheap in Nigeria, tell your leaders to withdaraw their children from abroad and come and study in Nigeria... useless country with useless citizens and leaders.. |

If education was that cheap and all good like Reno claims, why didn't he bring his children down to Nigeria to school. In America they have good educational system and what you pay is what you'll get. They offer scholarships, GA's and loans to student. Is it Nigeria that you know when you entered but can't say when you'll finish that one will cough out 100k. |

toshie: Affordable poverty abi? I feel subsidies should be gradually removed from the economy,it tend to distort the economy! why should every tom and harry be enrolled in a university....only to go there and make life a misery for serious students............some are best suited for technical work or the trades! Revenue from subsidy removal should be used to establish a robust National ID data system run by reputable global coys........every citizen should have a unique id number with which we can build a credit score history..............we need to know who is qualified for what credit and mortgage! so Let us have quality services and goods ...even if expensive but let us have credit opportunities too!......who cheapness epp! |

nairalanda1:by the time, you add accomdation, feeding, handouts, lecturers fees, that money will surpass ghana own and the quality will still be shit.. then also add ASUU strike and time wasted at home writing jamb and other useless exams... plus ghana is not an oil produing country, and they have 24 hours electricity...they dont spend fuel for generator..... Nigeria is an oil producing country and have ellipetic power supply... so shut your mouth from defending nonsense |

I still see this as useless comparison, under a useless and oppressive system? Other countries have a better system Nigerian is where the citizens work for the government & the government doesn't work for the citizens, the citizens pay for virtual everything it needs no government input. marenkurz:Are you minding that charlatan, Reno? All those fees he mentioned are fees for foreign students. Most universities in core European countries are tuition free for their students. Some extend it even to foreigners. Eg Germany. UK home student fees rangers from 3k to 9k. Don't forget you can get student loans covering the whole fees, which you start paying once you graduate and earn over a benchmark. If I remember right, once you earn over 25k. The ghana fees he quoted is for also foreign student, it is actually about a quarter of that for locals while foreigners pay 3-5k usd. Russia is averagely 4-6k for foreign student, locals pay almost nothing. |

Re: Reno Compares Nigerian Universities' Tuition Cost With That Of Other Countries by emonkey(m): 12:01am On Jul 24, 2023 |
headboyprince: You are so naive . "what has the govt done with the 10%" - did you pay ? 99% of Nigerians not on PAYE tax will never pay. "over there healthcare is free" - In which country specifically. It is all paid from your tax in UK. In US I paid 40% tax and must still pay separately for my health insurance. "their security is intact." - true, but it never stops hundreds of people from being shot every day. .infact their govt will pay you salary if you're unemployed - there is nothing automatic about this. It is all conditional. The argument here is that Nigerians no more know the purpose and value of education because it is cheap. In the US it is common to find students working part time to be able to be able to pay for their university education. Nigerians want it all easy on a platter of gold. That is why most Nigerian companies will rather hire a student who studied abroad than the best of those that studied in Nigeria. Because the other knows how to work to achieve a desired purpose...at any cost. |

Throwback: BLESS YOU on the highlighted… Said the same myself here on NL and elsewhere on SM (and often got attacked for it)… Nigeria cannot afford to use its scarce resources to subsidize an educated/skill work force for much wealthier nations. The worse part of it is that when Nigerian beneficiaries of cheap (even free) education “japa”… They will be wailing to their foreign colleagues, who have $250K to $1m in school loans, how Nigeria did “nothing” for them. > 2 Likes 1 Share |

That is why we need tons of NGO and non-profits. I benefitted from those myself and my foundation IDAGBA Empowerment Foundation is paying it forward. We need loans, scholarships and more funds to improve our universities. Let us weed those that are not serious about education so they can learn trades or non degree certification jobs. Throwback: |

[quote author=Throwback post=124598877]As at 2010, session fees in Unilag for returning students was just N10k. Yabatech that is even a Polytechnic was around N20K. You can imagine how badly Unilag was underfunding itself, despite its students priding themselves as the richest in the public university system. Can he also compare workers wages, take home, salaries and allowances between Nigerian workers and those countries he mentioned? Can he also compare infrastructural development between Nigeria and those countries? Common sense is not common indeed. Can anyone say a single aspect of life and economy thay is working in Nigeria? Does he knwo that students loan programmes are abundant in those countries? Does he know that good infrastructuremakes life easy and meaningful for the citizens?. Reno is a disgrace! Senate is spending about N70Billion on furniture and more billions on cars but they want Nigerians to manage and be patient. God will judge all of you. The wicked will never go unpunished including everyone supporting the wickedness by Nigerian so called power grabs. |
