"Let The Poor Breathe" - Protesters Hit The Streets In Edo State by DeTribalisedCit(op): 8:16pm On Jul 24, 2023
Citizens under the aegis of "Edo Civil Society Organisations" took to the streets to protest the seemingly unending hike of petrol prices.

Despite the disparity in the petrol price across the nation after NNPCL announced increase in pump price to N537 per litre on May 31, a further increment in July took the cost to as high as N617 per litre.

Aggrieved citizens in Edo State took placards in what appears to be the firsts of these protests in the country. Twitter user, Ijeoma Osamor, who shared videos and pictures of the protest said
The protest has started in Benin City, Edo state Capital... "Let the poor breathe,"

Some of the placards bore the inscriptions:

"Reduce cost in governance not increasing fuel price"

"We say No to constant increment in PMS"

"FG fix our refineries"

It's inspiring to see the people of Edo State coming together to protest for the rights of the less privileged. The slogan, "Let The Poor Breathe," is a powerful call for justice and equity. These protests shed light on the struggles faced by the impoverished and demonstrate a collective demand for change in societal systems that perpetuate poverty. It is important for governments and policymakers to take notice of these demonstrations and work towards implementing effective measures to alleviate poverty and address socioeconomic disparities. This movement serves as a reminder that it is our collective responsibility to ensure that everyone has access to basic necessities and the opportunity to live a dignified life.

Way to go. Tinubu isn't considering us. These flagrant policies aren't what I voted for when I voted him.

I am in support of subsidy removal but as far as the politicians are not ready to make sacrifices for this country let the subsidy regime return.
You asked us to endure subsidy but national assembly approved 70 billion for themselves and another 500 billion for Tinubu to swallow.
Are these people humans at all?

Very well said, I applaud you.
I also applaud all those who made the sacrifice, cancelled engagements to be there.
Those who printed banners, organised traffic, provided water and championed the course.
Those who spoke, got public address systems, microphones and speakers.
Also those who stayed home to pray and cheer on.
E no easy.

Meanwhile I heard the Labour guy lost his seat in Delta over party technicalities.
I also heard there was a severe explosion in Ore.
Finally I heard Wike lost his cool and Ganduje took his lot maturely.

If only I could say what's on my mind in all of these grin cheesy wink cool

Nigeria is on the path to greatness with Tinubu /Shettima economic policies.
Those who sow in tears will reap with joy. So the Bible says.
