My friends have been advising me to start saving money for a while now, I don't earn much but I had already decided to start saving, no matter how little, just yesterday when someone heard us talking about it, he said with the way Nigeria currently is, saving has disadvantages because my 1million today will become 500k next year.
Better save. Until naira gets stable, change your money to fx. Keep in your domiciliary account.
Let me gist you. About some months before covid, I had like 2m in an account I had not touched for years. As naira started shaking, I called aboki. Changed the money. Got 2k pounds and 3k dollars.
Today, that 2m will barely get you 2k pounds.
Better save, because if there is a challenge, eg health wise, omo, you are on your own. People die easily just because of lack of money.

Saving money is a poor man's idea. Please, learn to INVEST. When the money gets to a certain level buy a piece of land or buy jewelry (like GOLD earrings, necklaces, bangles, rings etc) they don't depreciate like keeping the money in the account. Although, having cash most times would be of advantage; like buying goods or property from a desperate person cheaper than usual. Good luck.

The economic downturn, devaluation of the Naira, and, high cost of living occasioned by an increase in petroleum product has eroded the value/worth of Money.

Savings may not give you the appreciative interest you desire.

The best step to take is to Invest In Real Assets - Real Estate.

You can go for an installment payment option. It will be the same as "saving your funds" in the long run, your real estate investment appreciates.

It's not good. There is no way in this life that a country that is a net import of commodities can have a currency fair value.
As long as we are not a production country, our currency will continue to depreciate

Invest the money

The interest will cover the depreciation

School will always teach you about money.

But school will never teach you what is money. If you can teach yourself the practical definition of money, you can never be poor again.

The majority don't know what is money and that's why wealth is concentrated in a few hands.

/

Pls teach us what is "money "
