You could say that we’ve gotten phase 1 sorted out with the addition of Onana.

Teams won’t press us anyhow with the conviction that they can catch us in possession and score easy goals. After 3 unsuccessful attempts (where they nearly concede or actually concede goals- depending on Rashford and Antony’s mood) , they’ll probably fall back and concede possession to us.

This will give us more control over games but then the onus will be on us to dismantle the bus that they’ll park. This is where ETH has his work cut out for him.

His tactics and his player’s profile matters a lot here. We have Bruno, Sancho and vDBeek who know how to create space inside a pack of bodies. Then, our attackers have to be more clinical. After that, we have to pick our moments of transition carefully and the execution has to be top notch.

A better midfield and attack would have seen us perform much better than we did last season than just a better keeper that can play out of the back much better. If we have all the passing from back and possession and our attack is blunt, we will still run into problems.

We were very poor in attack last season and our midfield was average for the most part. It is the reason I was not keen on replacing DDG when we have other areas in the team/squad begging for improvements.

Seems like they want to smuggle him in. If reporters ask him about it, EtH will ask them to take it up with the club. He only works with the players at his disposal.

Onana had 90+% pass accuracy yesterday. This includes long balls to Rashford’s feet although the latter couldn’t make anything from them.

I like the moment he shouted at Magwaya when his sloppiness caused us to concede a chance. VDS was also very vocal.
