But despite an endorsement of his qualities, Ten Hag has hinted Maguire will again find opportunities hard to come by next season as he battles with Raphaël Varane, Lisandro Martínez, Victor Lindelöf and Luke Shaw.

"It's tough when you're competing with Rapha Varane and Victor Lindelof," Ten Hag said.

"It's huge competition. That has nothing to do with the belief. I have often chosen a player ahead of Harry, that's true. But that says nothing about me not believing in him. He has to show he is better for the team than Rapha or Victor. I think that's a normal situation in top football."

Baba is basically telling Maguire his number on CB pecking order..

Patrickmufc. You said Onana’s better passing is inconsequential and blamed Rashford and co for failing to connect with De Gea’s long balls.

Tell me, how many times has De Gea’s long passes been this accurate?

Magwaya’s biggest flaw is his slow response and recovery rate, especially during transitions. He also tends to hold possession unnecessarily until he gets into trouble. That was one of the reasons Onana had a go at him in the last game.

Eph12 and ChritineC, Hojlund for all his size is average in the air from analysis and clips I have seen...I hope he will improve that aspect of his game.
you are correct on that. however I don't think anybody is expecting to see a finished article next season. he's 20 and there must be areas he'd need fine tuning, areas he'd need massive improvements and areas he'd need a whole new skillset development. of course the pissed English press (and some fickle "fans" ) will try to highlight flaws because United didn't try hard enough for Kane but that's their mo.
his hold up play is still something the wing forwards can work off of and the heading ability in the box is there. I'd like to see him bedded in slowly and interchange with maybe Sancho for the start of the season but if he hits the ground running like Bruno, by all means let him ride it out till it dips; because it will eventually given his experience levels cheesy
Ten Hag is ramping up team chemistry by evidence of the preseason games so far and that's the most important thing for next season. a team with clear plans will make it easier for all our new signings. I hope we can add Amrabat and maybe another center back.

Crazy fee for a young unproven player, but it is what Atalanta wanted. This shows that Clubs will only sell their players at whatever amount they want, whether you go for the player early in the window or late in the window. Hope he turn out to be our own Haaland..

He's still raw..
If we got him for like 10 million.. He would probably be going out on loan before he's integrated into the team..

But now we are expecting him to bench martial full time.. It's easy to say but martial is actually a good player on his day

The only news I'm expecting for next season is that Greenwood will be in the squad.

That chance might not be there again. He won’t win Ballon d’Or next year anyway. As a Naija boy I would advise him to go there for 1 year and secure the bag of life. Come back to Europe next season and pretend the 1 yr was a year off with ACL injury.

I remember when that happened. In his defence Partey showed some unbelievable acceleration there mehn. Having said that Antony needs a sprint coach. This his method of running off balance can’t be efficient.

That Antony not only plays like he's under a spell, he also runs like he's wearing oversized slides. Imagine getting outpaced by Parte that was like 2 miles behind him. SMH

I'm not sure the offer is a year contract like Mbappe. besides, have you tried moving from any wage to significantly lower wages?

LOL. Moving to significantly lower wages does not matter in a case that one has already made enough to even retire. Playing competitive football can be an excuse but salary coming down after can't be an excuse.

It is like someone rejecting 10m naira monthly salary just because after 1 year his salary will come down back to 1m per month. The 108m naira extra he made in that year will clear his doubt.

Osimhen would make 10years Napoli salary in just 1 year in Saudi. Stepping down to lower salary would be the least of his problems if not he would have remained in Nigerian League.

Andre Onana rebuked for picking on 'easy target' Harry Maguire in heated Man Utd row

Harry Maguire was on the receiving end of an outburst from new Manchester United team-mate Andre Onana - as the goalkeeper was furious the team had lost possession

New Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has come in for criticism after furiously remonstrating with Harry Maguire during a pre-season friendly against Borussia Dortmund.

Onana had only been on the pitch for a few minutes when he was called into action and made a fine save to deny Sebastien Haller. However, the goalkeeper was furious with United's defence for gifting Haller the opportunity.

After the ball went out of play, he sprinted towards Maguire and berated him, with United losing possession after an exchange between the defender and Christian Eriksen. However, former Premier League striker Gabby Agbonlahor has criticised Onana's actions, claiming Maguire has become an "easy target" and the mistake was actually Eriksen's.

"First of all, Harry Maguire didn't do anything wrong," Agbonlahor told talkSPORT. "He played a ball to a midfielder and the midfielder gave it away. I feel like he's an easy target.

"I don't like that from Onana. Are you doing that to [Lisandro] Martinez? Are you running after [Marcus] Rashford like that? I don't think you are. Maguire's an easy target, so I didn't like the look of that.

"I'd understand it if it was a big mistake and it's cost a goal or it was Harry Maguire's fault, fair enough. But I want to see that same energy for every player. He sees Maguire going through that phase of Man Utd fans on social media (saying), 'Leave, leave, leave'.

"He's not going to react either, Harry Maguire. He's thinking, 'You know what, keep a low profile because I want to fight for my place'. I didn't like it and it wasn't even a mistake from Harry Maguire."

these things are not as straightforward as you describe.
everybody does a job for sustenance. irrespective of individual motivation, money is always a factor.
moving to Saudi at this stage of his career will tell his primary motivation. this is not saying he should do this or that, but if money proves to be the motivation then how can he find it playing football again for far lower earnings in Europe after a year of making enough to retire? this should invariably mean he'd be moving on to other interests or will continue in the Saudi League.
anyways I'm not an expert here. he'd consult with those that matter in his life and make the best decision for himself.
