All lies.....The CAC said they have no records of the companies that were paid subsidy money. This is what we need to investigate , who are the people that the subsidy was paid to?
You dey whyne me ni?

When they were not in power at the centre, they opposed subsidy removal because their family has oil businesses and cronies/fronts collecting subsidy.

Now that they can take money direct from FG big time, no need for subsidy again.

They cannot investigate themselves.

If your cook is stealing lots of meat from the pot every time, do you stop using meat to cook in your house? No. You sack the cook or monitor the pot of soup. That was the argument against GEJ in 2012.

Now in 2023, they not only stop using meat to cook, the household now drinks only garri with groundnut twice a day to survive. No cooking at all.

Over 1 trillion saved since subsidy removal, then why is FGN still borrowing 900million dollars from Foreign partners.

Dangote refineries is about 18 billion dollars (dues to inflation ofcos and foreign issue.)

Are u saying that Nigeria doesn't have half of that to build a refinery?
Or repair the existing ones?

Didn't they just share about 1 trillion naira among the states frm excess crude oil revenue?

They don't want to or they want da gote to monopolise things

Actually Dangote is $20 billion according to CNN . You did not mention how many refineries that you want to be built. $20 billion is over 15 trillion naira.
1 trillion was not shared among states and it was not from excess crude revenue. Please check your sources properly before discussing and making conclusion on these things.

Use the savings to refurbish our moribund refineries or build modular refineries in each state. Establish many compressed natural gas stations or other alternative fuels across states, cities and towns. Encourage solar powered electricity supply to support stability of normal conventional electricity supply across the country for at least 12 hours daily during day time eg 6am to 6pm.
Why is the President not even talking of solving the root problem of subsidy which is building refineries? I guess all these gimmicks is to prepare ground for the private refinery in Lagos to monopolise refining and sales of petroleum products so as to recoup the huge money they invested.
So you actually believe there's a savings? You guys can believe anything sha πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

While it important to note the biting effect of subsidy removal by the Nigerian government, and the attendant poor visibility that the policy has put in regards to Nigeria future tragectory,The general clamours for the government to use monies saved to build modular refineries by the populace should be shield.
Countries the world over are fast moving towards NET ZERO a word used to describe the fight against global warming and carbon monoxide emmison, are researching alternatives to fossil fuels which is Nigeria's largest export. Some countries have successfully develop electric and solar powered vehicles and machineries, some have even enact laws banning petrol powered cars like the state of California whom have until 2035 to use fossil fuel engines.
Funds from this subsidy removal should be advocated to tackle short term cushioning like buying and distribution of CNG powered vehicles, subsided transport for workers at all levels and the large chunk of it judiciously used to Foster growth in other font like investment in research and training of personnel in agricultural land industrial section which has been lagging behind to drive food security and foreign investments.
Over dependence of Nigerian on imported goods has driven the price of the Naira to the point of near trifling, A rugged approach to production should be our talking points,
Semi if not total embargo on foreign luxury goods that can not be produce locally will bring producers into the country to set up industries to meet the ever increasing insatiable needs of the biggest market in the world (Nigeria).
We can't fail as a nation if we unite for a common goal of nation building and prosperity. Long term goals should surpass the present. I trekked to work today for lack of funds not for the bankruptcy of it. Tomorrow we move.

Oga, it is not a revenue accruing to the FG but a revenue accruing to the federation. Before spending, it has to be shared among the statutory benefactors. Hence you can only borrow before it is expended

Omoh. . Basic Finance should be taught in all secondary and tertiary institutions.

From the comments on the pages, you can see a dearth of basic economics knowledge.

There's a difference between budget, expenditure, debt, savings.

That the government saved 1Billion Naira doesn't mean the money is in a bank sitting somewhere. Nah far from it. It meant money was budgeted (that you budget for something doesn't mean you have cash in hand to finance it)

I can choose to budget and say I want to buy a Lamborghini, do I have the cash in hand now? Nope. If 6 months down the line I decide not to buy the Lamborghini (maybe by not taking loans) then I can say that I saved myself X millions in debt from not buying the Lamborghini.

So the 1 Trillion isn't in an account. It is the debt Nigeria would have incurred to our balance sheet if we had continued to pay for subsidies. It is interesting that Nigerians employ selective amnesia. All of you guys were 6months ago shouting that the country was so indebted Nigerians would have to be speaking Chinese. But you forget that those debt profile you see recorded includes Subsidy payments debts the country has to incur just to have cheap petrol.

And nah that money was budgeted doesn't mean the government had the money. A lot of our yearly Budgets go unfulfilled, items are budgeted for but never get the funds because we were never able to raise the funds needed via loans or income.

It was close to 1 trillion:

https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/610954-subsidy-removal-nigerian-govts-revenue-doubles-as-fg-states-lgs-share-n907-billion.html

Now u know that dangote refinery was initially supposed to be less than 14 billion dollars before the issue of forex and all came in.

Besides, nobody is saying we shud build refineries the size of dangote own which is about the largest single train refinery in the world.

Frm Google, one can build a refinery for less than 5 billion dollars.

So what's stopping us?

Tinubu should channel these monies to developing nigeria's infrastural and geo-political development, be equality in national leadership, develop our education, schools (universities especially), build industries to create many jobs and give loans equally to the nation's citizens needing it, I believe in this govt but he's to do more to help the doomed nation scattered under some PDP, and 'Buhari administration' especially...
If you believe Tinubu is saving money then all your education from secondary school to date is just a waste of time and your parent's resources.

Allowing government build refinery or repair them will take us back again. The refineries have always been their cash cow in one way or the other.

Nobody can say for sure what we need from these mindless people.

Meaning he would have saved N6T in one year and N24T in 4 years.

Meaning Abuja will overtake Dubai in development

Meaning that he has saved N5000 or $6.66 per Nigerian and would be saving N30000 or $40 per person in a year.

$40 saved in a year is equivalent to 3hrs wages in another citizen's or human country.

Meaning Nigeria will still have over 133m in multidimensional poverty?

Are we really moving forward?

Which kind analysis be this? This is Peter Obi kind of analysis !!
