President Bola Tinubu on Monday said the Federal Government of Nigeria has saved N1tn in the two months since the removal of the petrol subsidy.

Tinubu said these monies that would have been otherwise squandered by those he called “smugglers and fraudsters” will now be channeled into intervention programmes targeting families nationwide

“In a little over two months, we have saved over a trillion Naira that would have been squandered on the unproductive fuel subsidy which only benefitted smugglers and fraudsters,” Tinubu said in his nationwide broadcast on current economic challenges in the country.

While acknowledging the hardship occasioned by an unavoidable lag in palliative measures these past 62 days, he urged Nigerians to “look beyond the present temporary pains and aim at the larger picture.”

“I plead with you to please have faith in our ability to deliver and in our concern for your well-being.

“All of our good and helpful plans are in the works. More importantly, I know that they will work,” he affirmed.

He said the funds so far saved from subsidy removal “will now be used more directly and more beneficially for you and your families.”

President Tinubu also promised to get the nation out of this economic turbulence through the measures his administration has taken so far.

Meaning he would have saved N6T in one year and N24T in 4 years.

Meaning Abuja will overtake Dubai in development

Meaning that he has saved N5000 or $6.66 per Nigerian and would be saving N30000 or $40 per person in a year.

$40 saved in a year is equivalent to 3hrs wages in another citizen's or human country.

Meaning Nigeria will still have over 133m in multidimensional poverty?

Are we really moving forward?

Use the savings to refurbish our moribund refineries or build modular refineries in each state. Establish many compressed natural gas stations or other alternative fuels across states, cities and towns. Encourage solar powered electricity supply to support stability of normal conventional electricity supply across the country for at least 12 hours daily during day time eg 6am to 6pm.
Why is the President not even talking of solving the root problem of subsidy which is building refineries? I guess all these gimmicks is to prepare ground for the private refinery in Lagos to monopolise refining and sales of petroleum products so as to recoup the huge money they invested.

Hmm,when did he borrow 500b for palliative? 500b you are referring to is money saved in June by subsidy removal, and the one of July makes it 1trn. As it is 500b would be saved every month.

Useless man.

A man that became richest politician in Africa Tru the Commonwealth of Lagosians. So, you think he will keep his eyes off a larger fish?

They have milked the flow of money off the streets of Nigerians and put it at their mercy to share as they wish.

The hand of an average and most suffering Nigerians will not touch #1,000 of that money. They will claim they gave it to people that are very poor (don't have accounts).

If they are serious with welfare, don't they have BVN of Nigerians?

Audio funds as usual.
