At 29, Cancelo is already approaching the end. And the singular reason that he can be divisive, does not sit well with me. Xavi obviously prefers him because of his experience. Maybe he feels the situation of the club needs people who can hit the ground running. We need to win trophies quickly and then slowly build for the future. Gundogan, Oriel Romeu and now Cancelo are all seasoned professionals, who already knows what they can bring to the table.

As for Balde, I have to admit that I had my doubts with him under Koeman/Xavi era. I always felt he looked frail, unprepared and out of his depths. Maybe the ferocious emergence of Ansu Fati, skewed my appraisal of him, making me think he needed to do better. But a year later, I am pleasantly surprised to have been proven wrong.

For Fermin Lopez, he might be the extra midfielder Xavi was requesting. Obviously, he would have preferred another experienced professional like Bernando Silva. But it will feel so much better if Fermin can be the extra midfielder to supplement Gavi and Pedri. We are always at our wit's end, attacking wise, whenever Pedri is out. If the performance of Fermin against Vardrid is anything to go by, he might be the one to offer attacking options from the midfield, just like Pedri.

Fresneda is by far an easier prospect. He's young and quite good defensively. Not an all-attack RB. Already knows Laliga.

However, I prefer Kounde or Araujo in the RB position in big games. People who are first of all, a defender.

This is how Guardiola won the UCL. Not all these attacking fullbacks in both flanks, since we already have an attacking Balde in the LB.

Only reason I like Cancelo idea is his ability to play on either flank. The thought of having Alonslow deputising for Balde, doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence.. going into the new season.

Currently, Barça have no plans to acquire a right-winger. Instead, the club are betting on Lamine Yamal as a to learn and be behind Raphinha. Yamal impressed the club during pre-season with his performances in matches, training sessions, and his attitude. @gerardromero ✨

They should just go ahead with Fresneda deal. If they're looking for a good attacking as well as defensive fullback, there's Arnau Martinez who's good at both.

If there's enough FFP and money, sign Cancelo next and prepare for next season while trying to see if we can get Roque this summer. All these and we have a perfect transfer window.
