But this doesn't happen in 90s
updatechange:
Quite possible… I finished secondary school at the age of 16 and I have classmates that I am way older than in my class that we started together from jjs1 btw I repeated a class because of change of school so it’s quite possible.

Although I don’t trust anything Nigeria politician.

All of Una wey Dey quite me… Una go explain tire.
All I know is writing common entrance in pry3 is very realistic just as I sat for GCE when in ss2

Isn't he a current senator?

I know he definitely won his re-election after the ugly incident and got a pardon from the Senate.
Ok I see.

I can attest to the fact that Sen. Abbo (he was fondly called Cliff) was actually a very brilliant student.

I knew him way back from Mubi in Adamawa State...

From his humble days in Vimtim to when he came out as HIV positive, then during his days with several International NGOs and most memorably, when he used to fly to England to watch Man Utd matches.

But writing common entrance in primary 3... Omoh. That one weak me!

Ordinarily, way back at primary 3, you no even suppose sabi read finish.

But if I believed that a 13 year old is the youngest AWS certified developer in Africa... Then I'll humbly swallow Abbo's story too.
I could read very well when I was in Primary 1, Teachers use to come to my class to take me to Primary 4 to read book for the class because they couldn't read properly

1. He lied. You can't write common entrance in Primary 3 and pass. By that class you are within age 3-8years, except he is 8years. If he claim so, let him reveal the age he did.
2. The other man lied. You can't finish, nursery, primary, secondary schools ( 9- 14years ) within 9-10years of your birth.

You should know that writing GCE in SS2 is different from common entrance in Pry 3….if u say pry 4, I won’t argue but 3, that he hasn’t learned proper maths,English and General study..ahba now. At SS2 u are fit and knowledgeable enough to even write jamb once you’re brilliant.. guy leave am, that guy deh smoke Lie.

Yes, our parents really did try their best. The painful thing was that my sister passed both the common entrance exam and the subsequent interview but was given FGC Sokoto. My parents really tried to even get some where near, FGC Odogbolu (Ogun state) but it didn't work out.

My sister, now a Rev.Sr. and a consultant psychologist keep saying she was depressed throughout secondary school because she didn't make it to FGC despite her brilliancy and it got worsen, whenever our neighbour's daughter came back home from Queens College on mid term breaks and end of term holidays. It was at that tender age, she realized the injustice called quota system and harboured that anger until she spoke about the repressed anger, when she went for personal therapy during her doctorate program.
What a story! My respect to her.
May the good Lord continue to enrich her in His vineyard. Making that solemn vow is not an easy thing o.

That means I'm right then.

When I was in Primary 3. Not like I couldn't read, but I remember that there were alot of my classmates then that couldn't read properly

You dont make sense at all. Stop defending absurdity and foolishness. Someone said he finished secondary school at the age of 9 and you are comparing yourself of finishing at 16 year old with him.

It is true. So is writing being in Primary 3 at the age of 3, so one can write his/her common entrance and moving to JSS1 by age 4, so one can conclude Kindergarten to senior secondary school between 9 years. In fact, I want to believe that the Utsev guy is so brilliant that he started schooling immediately he was born.

Primary 3 is 9 years of age.
Can you read clearly?

Lawmakers observed a seeming age disparity in Utsev’s certificate. The nominee in his certificate stated that he was born in 1980 and finished secondary school in 1989.

The Senator pointed out that according to his Curriculum Vitae, he was born in 1980 and started primary school three years after in 1984 and finished secondary school in 1989.

There is actually something wrong with you. Where did you see the 15 years old that you keep talking about?

Lagos lawmaker, Senator Tokunbo Abiru, spotted the error, stating that something must have been missing.

The Senator pointed out that according to his Curriculum Vitae, he was born in 1980 and started primary school three years after in 1984 and finished secondary school in 1989.

What I read was that he said he was born in 1980 and finished secondary school in 1989. Tell me what you read and what is easy to comprehend there. angry

Nobody gets admission to study any course in Unical and Uniuyo with a cut-off mark of 140 over 400. That score merely represents Jamb's cut-off, not the school's. There's a reason schools still set Post UTME for successful Jambites.

Stop misinforming people over nairaland likes!
Don't mind the mugu. If he thinks Uniuyo is a glorified secondary schl let him enroll one of his children or siblings or better still, let him ask some of the yoruba or igbo pple that passed thro the schl if he's frm any of those tribes. Some of them that have never traveled out of their states will come to nairaland to spew rubbish just for likes that never translates to money nd if u wanna follow up you'll discover that most are grand parents behaving like kids.

What was the cut off mark of Adamawa?

Actually in 1989, it was out of 600 because my eldest sister sat for it and scored 534 and our state, (Imo state) cut off mark that year was 523 and highest in Nigeria, while the old Gongola state was less than 200 as we had a neighbour who was from Mubi (Gongola state) whose daughter scored less than 200 and made it to Queens College Lagos while my eldest sister didn't get FGC Ijanikin that was her first choice nor FGC Okigwe that was her second choice but was compensated with Federal Government College, Sokoto ! Imagine sending a 12 year old from Lagos to Sokoto by road way back in 1990......my parents did waka to them and got my sister enrolled in a day secondary school in Lagos.
Nowhere in the north had a cutoff score of more than 200 out of 400. Their cutoffs where routinely below 170. Bendel, Anambra and Imo states vied against each other for highest cutoff in the country with every administration. I'm not too sure about that 600 cutoff though, when I took mine, it was cutoff 400, but after two administrations, the ceiling, if I recall correctly, was changed to 700 and not 600.

1989, I am 100% certain was 600.

Ok. Thought for whatever reason that it was 700. It was a while ago though, I took mine in 1987.

I thank you in anticipation.

I also finished primary school at 8. I wrote common entrance exam at primary 4 after my parents were persuaded by Mr Okpanachi, the deputy headmaster. I also didn't do primary 1. I finished secondary school at 14. Got admission immediately into University and wrote my final exams at 18. Eventually, I had a spill over and the famous 6 months ASUU strike in 2009. Therefore, I didn't get my result until I was 20 years.

Recently, I went to get a replacement primary school testimonial at my primary school. The principal kept prodding me to falsify my entrance year and graduation year, because I spent only 3 years in primary school. I refused only to come back to see that she still went ahead with the falsification. It now looks like I started primary 1 at age 2 grin yet I didn't attend primary 1 at all.

When I am chanced, I will return the testimonial and insist that the correct date be put there. Sometimes, it's not us that falsify these records, it's either our parents or teachers, thinking they are helping us.
