From 700k to 500k, he was not telling you the truth. State government pay principals less than 150k. They do retire at level 16. Level 17 is for PS.
State government pays principals less than 150k, lol πŸ˜‚
Where did you get this from?
I am also a public secondary school teacher in Ogun state, and the last time i checked, the salary of principals in grade level 17 is around 350k to 400k.
And for your information, there are some principals in grade level 17 incase you don't know. Sometimes, it takes connection for principal to be in Permanent secretary, that's why you see grade level 17 still in principal level.
Next time, try and do your findings and know the truth before you come online and start bombarding people with false.

Where una wan see 120k teaching job for this naija
.
There are.
You can see some top tiers school or highbrow schools that pays close to that amount or even more.
They are mostly in Lagos and some other big cities.
The thing is most people get employed there by referral or you have to be very very good to work your way there.
Believe in me, there are standard schools in Nigeria but they are only meant for the elites.

My colleague whose father was a teacher and a PhD holder earned more than her father who was a vice principal of a secondary school in Ibadan as an intern. Stop lying and misleading people to massage your ego. Principals earns below 250k.

Take the government job, ghost it and return to your private job, government work is 35years compared to private, I doubt if the private school will keep paying you after 6 years with them.

And you say Tinubu is the reason Nigeria is a failed state? Tomorrow you will look around you and say govt schools are rubbish? See how you are the major part of that destruction happening in our society?

Good day my friends
Please advise me, I recently got a government teaching slot in a primary school, where I would probably earn 70k for a start ,but where I work presently in a private school where I teach government I earn 100k as basic salary and private lessons give me 40k monthly

Should I quit the private school for a government school? For job security

If you plan to do something private remain with the private school and work only with private schools. This will afford you the opportunity to work with parents doing side hustle. govt That is to say, a good private school provides a good ground to get clients for your private tutoring gig.

Secondary school that he can get to principal and also get some juicy position before or after retirement. A principal in a government secondary school can earn close to 700k
Nah lie, which ste government can pay you that??

You're still doubling down. How can you take up a teaching job, then appoint an assistant? Why did you take it in the first place if you were not going to show up? If he wants to take the job, then he should take it and do it.
he's gonna show up but not immediately. Government jobs are for the long term not short term. Be just got the offer so he gotta accomplish a few things before returning full time and besides.ost government jobs wouldn't pay you salary for the first 6 months. Ur entry year shouldn't need much of ur presence. Atleast an assistant could cover that..

You better rush and grab it.
Private school can wake up one morning and sack you but this can never happen in public school.

You can still retain your private lessons for more income

If you are very good at your job, that's all the job security you need. The government job would not pay you 120k in the next 5 years.

Quit the private school and take the government job...

The government teaching will give you more time, less stress, and you can even earn more, because while you have more time, you can use it to do extra lesson and other business..

Don't forget that they will also give you pension when you retire, what a private school can't give you...

Lol. Primary school and LG staff were last played gratuity before I was born. I am talking about my state though. Public primary school and LG is the worst place to work in Nigeria

Private jobs aren't stable. You might earn 120k for two months and be fired. Public jobs last for eternity. Eternity in the sense that pension and gratuities follow even after retirement. Dem no dey pay who retire from private job oo. Be wise sir

Chairman, let me advice you, if you go listen, anything sole proprietor work run run continuing running till you get government or partnership job, a single man deciding your future is uncalled for no matter how juice the wages is. He can wake up one day and decide to sell his/her business.

Why choose when you can do both? Take up the government Sch, find your way around it, settle head teacher, then continue with the private Sch .

This isn’t a good advice but this is Nigeria, you have to survive.

It depends on who you are as a person.

I'll give you reasons.

Govt. Job is stable( meaning you can't be fired) even when clearly incompetent. Are you competent?

Govt job pace is slow, relaxed and ultimately corrupt. Are you?

Govt job might give you chance to do other things must times at the expense of the students. Do you have another biz at the moment?

Govt job is shitty pay and is often delayed for years. Are you ok with this?

Private school.

Private school job is demanding and will test your competence. Are you competent in what you studied?

Private school job will take your weekends and evenings in most cases. Are you ready to do that extra work, esp when you know it'll benefit your student at your expense?

Private school job will be strict, require you to better yourself etc. Are you ready for that or you're done learning?

Private school job will pay well, on time and might never owe.

Ultimately, the decision is yours.

But as a private school teacher of over a decade, I can tell you it's rewarding especially when you're in the right place, right school, actively improving yourself and putting in the work.

As a private school teacher in Lagos, I currently earn more than professors in federal university and that's not all. I have developed myself, my competence and my knowledge(extra degrees and CPDs).

On the side, I currently charge 15k for a session of lesson(2hrs max) and do lessons almost everyday of the work week. And all these improvement happened within the past 5 years, the first 5 years was me playing around waiting for something better, not knowing that I can multiply what I had in my hands.

Decide what you want my guy.

Whichever path you decide, good luck to you.

Boss, please I need a Mentor like you that can guide me and put me through.
Take me as your child sir. I'll greatly be indebted to you. I studied education.
Can I av ur number sir?

don't mind the guy. A teacher confirmed that to me. Besides their salary as a principal, there could be other money they get as supplement.

Bro please how can i get absorbed into Ogun state teaching service commission? I'm done with my service there. Please help a brother. Who can i meet that you feel is capable to help? Thanks

Like if NNPC job , lecturing job, CBN job or FIRS throws job your way, you will still prefer to hold on tightly to your home lessons job. Home lessons job no mater lucrative it sounds is still for unemployed graduates trying to survive pending when a real job will surface

Destructive advice on all fronts.
Destructive to students in public schools because they will be missing his period on the timetable.
Destructive to govt because they will be paying him for job not done.
Destructive to society because he will be holding two jobs at a time while doing only one, denying one other jobless graduate the opportunity to be employed.
And lastly, destructive to him as a person, his moral compass will be destroyed and I wonder what his children will learn from him and think about him.
