Going forward, we need to leave the American Continent and focus on friendlies with the Europeans. By 2026, the gap will be so so unnoticeable. Let's also try the style of the Japanese. There's enough time to start that with the young Crop of players with a great coach.
Yeah I think its a good idea, the smallest of this European teams have always been a bone in our neck. I wish NFF renew this Man's contract so he can continue to mould the team

His success won't necessarily translate with the men. There's one reason Randy did well with the ladies; they believe in him. He won't have the same buy-in with the guys.

Those guys need someone they can play for. It's why Stephen Keshi of blessed memory succeeded a bit.
You've sad it all. A respected figure and captain fits the narrative for now. Maybe that's why Yobo and Musa are, yunno.

Again, you'll only be surprised about Oshoala if you don't watch her at Barcelona. At some point, I even concluded that being a Barcelona hasn't helped her to become a better player even though she's won so many laurels with them. At Barca, she's required for the bear minimum. All she does is position in the box, and score. She's sometimes required to make runs but that's very rare.

She misses so many chances. She may have to get 10 chances to score 1. Our role every week is to defend her on their YouTube page from attacks by some racist Barcelona fan. (lol) even though there's truth to some of the things they say sometimes.

I still think she has a lot to offer the team, she must needs to take personal responsibility. Get a personal trainer that will help you improve your game. He contract ends with Barcelona in 2024, and there's pressure from some fans not to renew her contract and go instead for a better striker. If her contract isn't renewed and she gets to join another team, her inadequacies will become more apparent.

Really hoping she works on herself.
Bro, I wouldn't really agree that Barca hasn't helped her... barca has helped her a lot to become the better player she is today, at least initially ( During 2019 season when Barca wasn't fixated on tiki-taka)...In fact Oshoala prior to Barca ( Actually The Chinese club she moved to before Barca ) was pure trash at Club level.

I watched her at Liverpool for a year and she was awful, Watched her at Arsenal and she was even worse....Infact other than run very fast in a straight line, she couldn't do anything else or even have any other skill in her locker. ( One could argue that she didn't settle down well to the English culture, but then again she actually lived for one year in a city where many people shared similar culture with her and also have a huge Nigerian community in North London)

Check Oshoala's career, Barca is the only club where she has been stellar...At U20 Level, she was a midfielder, at National Level she hasn't been that good I know she has 3 goals for Nigeria at the FWWC 1 in 15, 1 in 19 and 1 in 23...But the last time she scored in a WAFCON was in 2016. At Liverpool and Arsenal she was a flop....Only Barca has been able to get the best out of her despite her limited technical abilities. She has lost her explosiveness and pace and once she loses whatever is left of her pace, she'll become very painful to watch (She already is, somewhat )

For someone who started as a midfielder, I'm still puzzled by her lack of skills and technique....

Sorry for the long ass reply 😂😂 But I very much agree with everything else you said.

I totally agree with you. Maybe I should have phrased it better. What I meant was playing for a team where all you had to do was primarily tap in goals hasn't helped to improve her overall game. Of course she's been stellar at Barcelona and compared to her previous club experiences Barca is heaven, but if a player isn't careful especially attackers, Barcelona can make you Lazy and experience decline cause most of the work is done for you.

I however agree with you.

See what some said below. grin grin
It is like you have a little screw in your head that got loose recently. I don tell you not to quote me with your senseless rubbish you call opinions.

We asked you to name the youngsters you want in the team and who they should replace, you ran off with your tail between your legs. You think I was joking when I said you argue like a kid? Did you ever consider what these youngsters would offer the team? You no go let us rest ontop Ajakaiye who is not as good as Bello or Mercy. We must sha play them because Colombia played Linda and Italy played that 16-year old kid. Guy, dey look moniker well before quoting next time.

since 2019, its obvious we have an attacking problem. But that alone is totally reliant on lack of creativity behind the strikers. Better days ahead cos people dey ground for that one.
Most Nigerians are laughable. What "Attacking problem" are you writing about? Most Falcons players trap and pass the ball for/to their opponents. To most of them, the ball seems to have teeth too.

Players like Onyinizidane would have been very good in this world cup.

Oparanozie, Ordega and Ebi should never be invited again..
There are many typical Nigerians who would have thought otherwise. Even the Balogun the keeper was a waste of spot.

Former Arsenal winger, Brooke Georgina Nunn has indicated an interest in switching allegiance to play for the Super Falcons of Nigeria. Her mother is half-Nigerian with the family based in Lagos and her grandfather, Jackson Asiboje was one of the directors of a shipping company based in Apapa.

Georgina Nunn, who currently plays for Hibernian Women in the Scottish Women's Premier League, says she would be proud to represent Nigeria at the senior level.

You guys keep picking the likes of Onyenezide, Ajakaye and Sabastine but keep forgetting 17yrs old (18 by October this year) Chinyere Kalu the U20 Defensive Midfielder..

That girl alongside Deborah should be our next DM/Central Midfielder to look out for and gradually draft into the team as Back up for Ayinde and Ucheibe..

#19 Chinyere Kalu was back up to Bashirat Amoo at the last U20 World Cup and became the no.1 DM at the last U20 WAFU Cup in Ghana… Pls you guys shouldn’t take ur eyes off her.

This one na old mama na. Well england and other foreign nations using lesser blacks than their male counterparts might be a blessing in disguise, just see how plumptre stood out in our team and yet she wasn't seriously considered by the lionesses before her switch.

It has been analyzed that your best PK taker should always be the first taker to set the tone and put pressure of "catching up" on the opposition....Your Second best PK taker should go always go 3rd...

Anyway the first team taking penalty for the most part always wins ( As the 2nd team taking penalties will always play catch up ), That was why FIFA introduced the ABBA Pk system some 6 years back, but they have somehow scrapped it.

...As for Oshoala, it's always a mystery why she plays like an amateur or someone who's never kicked a ball in her life whenever she wears the "Green & White"...For someone who is said to be "Africa's Best" and contending to be recognized as one of the best Strikers in the world and best Player in the world ( Balon d'or Nomination ) she never takes charge to drag her team to fight and across the finish line, she never plays through her skin, stay on the grind like other greats do.

I mean she only registered 2 shots on target throughout this tournament ( 4 games: one was a free net against Australia which resulted in a goal and he other was a tame shot at 116 min against England )....That's very appalling for any 1st choice striker and even more appalling for someone touted as one for the best in the world.
We sometimes overhype oshoala more than her actual abilities especially when age and injuries have slowed down her pace but against england she just came in after nursing an injury. She was clearly not fully fit. Even for the penalty shootouts her stepping up first won't still have guaranteed us the win. Some of the penalties those england ladies were playing would be hard for most male goalies to catch.
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Deltamani: 11:43pm On Aug 07, 2023
Will rather bring in 24yrs+ Onyinyechukwu Okeke into the team as she has been around the set up enough, her height is another Plus for her as she’s about 1.84M tall… I can’t pick any of the U20 goalie right now as they haven’t lived up to the billing… Maybe after U20 World Cup we would see what current U20 first choice Mgechi Anderline can offer.. Omilana Faith still need to secure her spot in the U20 first..!
