I have said this many times that we should cap this kids early but many here to tell you how awaziem and omeruo tk be better defender than Adarabioyo and Tomori
Oga Charles, the NPFL is dead and Academy are being taken over by the rich men kids, imagine Nigeria U16 5-1 to Japan in an invitational tournament recently.

The last time we had it so good in developmental football was Iheanacho,Success,Awoniyi and later Osimeh,Chuckwueze eras. But we don’t have any option than to bring in FBs guys in if they are willing

Chuba Akpom has passed his medical at Ajax. He'll very likely be Dusan Tadic his successor as the number 10 of Ajax.

I hv been saying this for over 2 years in this thread. I think our biggest problem as super eagles fans is our ego and emotions

I still see no harm in approaching this kids born abroad aggressively and while doing that we should hv it at the back of our mind that we can’t hv all

Even their country of birth who rush into capping them don’t do that because they will be an integral part of their national teams but for future purposes and I urge our nff to copy from this European nations instead of waiting for the players to hit stardom before pushing to get them

A good example is Lesley Ugochukwu whose uncle Apam is an ex Nigerian international, what stops the nff to lure him through he’s uncle and parents? Chriskel mentioned few weeks ago that there is nothing special about the boy’s game but forgot that he is just 18 Abi 19 and hv the tendency to become the next Patrick Veira in the nearest future

Eze would hv been capped even if it’s in the last minute of any of our qualification games then but Rohr and the Nff played the waiting game until the midfielder attracted the England U20 coach

Another bad practice that isn’t working in our favor in getting this kids is their non inclusion in our youth teams. Who on earth will want to spend he’s hard earned money on flight ticket which won’t be refunded for he’s child to fly to nigeria just for trial/training with our youth teams? Where as their country of birth pay them allowance to train with theirs if they are deemed good enough

which number 10? Una go just come open mouth waaaaaa Dey yarn wetin una no knw

Akpom being played deep at boro by carrick doesn’t imply he is an AM. Harry Kane played the same role at spurs under Jose and conte

Ajax wants him as a striker to battle the number 9 position with Brobbey Abi wetin be em name

The problem is we have corrupt and incompetent people running the NFF. Nduka Ugbade had to have an open camp of 100s of players before he could come up with a team for the u17. This shouldn't be at all.

All the NFF needs to do is serve as regulators to academies. Propose policies that will make for stronger football academies then monitor and extend invitations to the best players to form your age grade team. This merit based system won't allow them room for their corrupt practices.

The DG of the DSS reportedly lobbied to have his son on one of the game grade teams. A Lebanese who naturalized to become Nigerian was a part of the last u23 team. His only profile was he being a player for a nameless second division team in Azerbaijan. He took pictures with the NFF president and came to said camp injured. Little wonder Nigeria won't be going to the Olympics next year.

That’s why they will always appoint yes men and hungry coaches as youth team coaches. They can impose whomever they want.

good point. Also what stops the nff from having its own academy/National football centre like Clairefontaine in France? Also Morocco hv something like that which hv improved their national teams

Such centers can be set up in all states in the country in conjunction with each state government. Even investors and sponsors can be attracted to be part of such venture. Clubs abroad will also love to hv an affiliation with such establishment. This will help in unearthing stars who will go on to do great things in europe as well as the national teams

The French football center hv produced almost 90% of players who hv worn the colors of their national teams both past and present

While there are exceptions like you cited, it isn't exactly ideal for football association to have academies. Running academies (the right way) is usually very expensive. Even if you have just one center to manage it will still.have high cost implication which Nigeria obviously cannot afford. You'll have to extensively scout for players then accommodate players (some with their families), make schooling arrangements for them and so on.

The ideal thing is have solid academies across the country. This makes for easy scouting. Coaches can even send videos of players they think should be considered to the national team coach who in turn extend invitations to these players. As per cost, academies, who are usually private investors won't have a problem putting in these money cause they'll get returns upon selling these players. The job of the NFF should be having great policy framework and providing enabling environment for academies to work.

Also, we shouldn't even be advocating for more involvement of government in our football. The reason the NPFL is the way it is today is because of the state government involvement. For football to grow, government needs to divest and we need to see more private investments.

we should continue to leave youth teams for the home based kids. We should not rely on foreign countries to unearth talents for us. They can join from the u20( maybe 40%) and the main team.

the major point I take from this is governments involvement which will give room for corrupt government officials to hijack it as well as corrupting the whole process

The NFF if not for its sharp corrupt practices which it’s known for can comfortably afford to own it’s own football centre/academy with the support of sponsorship from the private sector and affiliation with clubs abroad. This will be a win win situation to the footballing house which they will also reap the dividends by exporting this talents to clubs in europe

Sign on fees gotten from the transfer of players abroad will also be used in the everyday running of the centre. Maybe having it in all the states in the country will be very expensive which I agree but a centre which will be situated at Lagos preferably can be easily funded by the nff and sponsors only if they want

Business moguls like Otedola,Dangote etc can be incorporated, also big companies like MTN,Multichoice,GLO,Nigerian breweries etc as well as financial institutions can come in as sponsors. If a single individual can establish the best academy in this country which is situated in the west that produced Akinsanmiro (hv forgotten the name of the academy) then the nff with what it gets as budget annually from the federal government as well as grants from Fifa can do more

No be the same companies wey full here dey waste money dey sponsor BB9JA annually?🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Nigeria is a hub for emerging footballing talents and if the nff present such proposal to clubs in europe such as Chelsea,Madrid,Inter,Milan,Manchester United,Man city,Madrid,Bayern,Dortmund,Ajax etc these clubs will battle to hv an affiliation with the football centre

Exactly. We won't just have to deal with corruption, but impunity and disregard for merit. You'll suddenly see merit thrown out the window, and you'll see them advocate for quota per state for players. The project will die a natural death.

Billionaires also aren't fools. They only put their money in something that will yield profit. The truth is it's easier to invest in Nigerian football when government is totally divested. People like Soname of Remo Stars and Shola of Sporting Lagos are taking a big risk doing so now.

I remember someone talking about how the DSTV broadcast of NPFL games became a thing of the past. DSTV had drawn a calendar of matches they would broadcast before the season began to allow for effective logistical movement. The NPFL would literally change broadcast venue 2 days to the game because a governor wants to attend another match not on schedule. DSTV will have move by road their multi million dollar equipments to another state because a governor decided to attend a game and he must get airtime.

You make a good point in that we don't have a sponsorship problem. Sponsors will only partner with a product they believe will give them the needed visibility without plenty drama. To also correct you, BBN didn't get 300M o, the primary sponsor alone in 2022 (Yellowcard) gave them $2M which in today's value is 2 Billion Naira. This doesn't even include the money they got from many of their other sponsors.

Attack is fire.

Midfield and defense on paper should be adequate but reality tells a different story.

I believe if our defense is properly utilize it should stand firm against any team in the world. I do not see an African team with so many defenders in Europe top leagues.
Yesterday against Benfica Awaziem was declared as World Class by analysts!

You forgot to add Akor Adams.

Goalkeeping department is still threadbare.

England will not invite him. That role is chocked. Even Eze no go see invite any time soon.
bro never say never oooo. Inviting him just to cap tie him is very possible but not that he will be an important member of the squad

They did same to Tomori and eze recently just to keep them off our reach

He can get an invite in any of the their nations league matches and feature for the last 10-5mins which will mk them keep him for life
