I stumbled on Shanghai Knight last night on YouTube and decided to watch all over again since it has been 14 years or thereabouts since I saw the movie last, both Noon and knight. it's still one of the best Jackie Chan movie out there. grin

Blue Beetle (2023)

Batman is a fascist...Blue Beetle has a sense of humour!

I think we were due a Latin superhero big screen debut, and we might have gotten one with this. I have had serious super hero fatigue, so much so that i have even decided not to see this, but i gave in last minute and went in with zero expectations but it found a way to warm up to me in a very good way.

Blue Beetle circumvents the recent multi-verse trope and sticks with a tried and true formula of CBM genre. There's absolutely nothing new to see here but it takes a repetitive recipe and added a little spice in a way that doesn't make it feel stale. The story is grounded in core latino values that values La familia above everything. It was entertaining, humorous, no clunky CGI !and there is a strong emotional arm to the story arc that connects well with the narrative, plus there is decent chemistry with not just the leads, but the whole cast. A personal flaw for me is that it felt all too routine, and i could easily tell where the story was going but it packed enough charm to keep one focus for the entire run.

I might be wrong but It is not a billion dollar movie, it doesn't have the flair or CajΓ³nes, it will have outdid itself, if it makes $500m even.

It is not great by any stretch of the imagination, it is not the best superhero movie this year even by any chance, but it's a fresh and good respite from recent superhero failed endeavours that we have had to endure as it is a decent watch that delivers a good stand alone experience as it requires no prior knowledge to devour.

DC might have found their own "Spiderman" and i will show up, if they want to explore the character beyond this.

7/10.

Knight of the zodiac is 5/10 for me.

It's not your regular top of the notch movie, mid storyline but definitely a top notch fight scenes.

This movie to me has the best fight scenes I've seen in a movie in a very long time.
The only thing i enjoyed about the movie are the fight scenes.

They made me to remember the legendary mortal Kombat.

Elemental:5.5/10
Genre: Animation
.

I had high expectations for this one, but i was sure disappointed.

The Animation concept was really cool, so also were the colors etc, the dialogues were pretty good. My beef was with the story. It was very cliche. It something we have seen a thousand times, in Hollywood, Nollywood and Bollywood movies.
The movie was just Zootopia with elements

Eyes Wide Shut (1999)...... 8.5/10

Spurred by the revelation of his wife (Nicole Kidman) sexual fantasies with a stranger, Dr Hafford (Tom Cruise) embarks on a night of sexcapade and adventure to feel how it is to be adulterous and to forget Alice's emotional infidelity.
It turns into a long web of mystery and impending danger.

I've always wanted to watch this movie for a long time but really doubted how it would turn out. This is one movie that I was pleasantly surprised by it's quality. If I had known it was from Stanley Kubrick and his last movie, I probably would have watched much earlier.

It's a nice, mystery thriller, filled with premium eroticism and sheer nudity including full frontals. Gripping score, great storytelling, decent acting and good writing.

Disney and Pixar really raised the bar for animated movies. Over the years they have been very consistent in delivering original stories, great CGI pictures and music scores that are soothing to ears. The likes of Zootopia, Coco, Encanto, Soul are testaments to the amazing feat they have achieved so far in the animation genre.

I expected Elemental to follow the path of it predecessors. The animation style, color and concept, were mesmerizing, it keeps you transfixed and captivated on the screen.

The music scores like always were rhythmic, melodious and pleasing to the ears.

They got everything but the story right. It was very unoriginal and cliche. The story stenchs of mediocrity, something we've seen numerous times. In light of that, and their track records and success on previous animated movies, it was really a disappointment. They could have come up with something unique, something different, something better. They are Disney and Pixar for fvck sake and not some indie studio.

Call me an arm chair critic all you like, but that right there is the unclothed truth.

I disagree with you. The story is unique because something impossible in reality worked because of the power of love 😍. I loved Elemental because of the plot twist and unique characters. You may disagree with me but I'm sticking to my pov.

Power of Love grin because na their love strong pass

While watching the movie, my 8y/o niece said "let them touch each other let me rest".....She sef don know as the story dey go grin

Just like someone pointed out, It felt like I was watching Zootopia-Into the multiverse, only difference was that in this verse, touching is reserved for elements that are alike.

Storyline, same old-same old.
