Aba’s Biggest Problem Is Bad Publicity by horsepower102(op): 5:43am On Aug 21, 2023
I will be the first to admit that Aba is living below its potential.

But when you compare Aba to so many other Nigerian cities, the difference is very clear.

I still don’t understand the level of hate that city received on nairaland even though, it still looked better than so many other Nigerian cities.

A city may have bad roads in highly trafficked areas but those areas don’t define the whole city.

Thankfully Otti is fixing those roads but I also give some credit to ikpeazu who also worked on some roads even though he started late.

Besides Aba is not a state capital.

Very superb urban planning and layouts.

Once the roads and drainages are in order, Aba will definitely be one of the best cities to live and set up a business.

Geometric is getting ready to power Aba for 24 hours in few months. This is according to Barth Nnaji recent interview with Otti.

Judging from the pictures above as seeing is believing;
Aba is better than Abeokuta, Ekiti, and Oshogbo and Akure!

Only Ibadan can stand up to Aba in SW!

This kind of talk is for those who have not visited Aba multiple times.

Those who have passed Osisioma, front of Aba North LGA Secretariat, the Aba-PHC road where half the road was turned into a waste site and the general state of insecurity will argue otherwise.

Aba needs Abia state to have a good governor that will make things better and help turn the place into what the eldorado the residents want to see. Hopefully, Otti will do well, he has had a long time to prepare for the job ahead.

No. Excuses

Passing Osisioma does not necessarily mean you've been in Aba. And saying it out means you haven't been in Aba before. That road runs outside Aba and not through it. Just like saying Asaba has bad roads cos of the express way that doesn't go "through" Asaba is bad.

Aba north secretariat behind Abia poly? Come on, you were most probably in Aba during the time of T.A orji.

Aba-Ph road (federal road) is under contract as far back as 2013 (or 2015??) with Arab contractors to build from Enugu to Port Harcourt. (Don't know why they've been so slow). For internal roads, Ikpeazu really did very well. The only "major road" to be repaired in Aba now is Ph road (not the ph- enugu road).

Ikpeazu tried, Otti would probably do better. But the duo of Orji Uzor Kalu and T.A Orji completely ignored Aba

Imagine? So if you pass Zuba expressway to Kaduna you will use it to judge Abuja? Do you know that from Lokoja to Kaduna along the expressway you will drive over one and half hours inside FCT without seeing Abuja city at all? Or maybe we should use Makoko and Ajegunle to judge Lagos? Osisioma is not Aba though part of ngwa clan and greater Aba metroplis. PH expressway is federal road and completely off Aba City center. You are seeing pictures with your koro koro eyes and still arguing what you know nothing about

Exactly osisoama and Aba port Harcourt road are not Aba really... It's like judging Lagos with otta

Where you passed is where 90% of Aba visitors visit and that's where bring the bad name because that's were ariara is

That place u pass is not upto 10% of ABA

This is exactly what the OP is saying

It is not about the road but the refuse. It is an eyesore. Is it the FG that will clear the refuse?

You might be right, but for me it's bad government.

The searchlight is on Aba because,it has one of the biggest market in southeast.

People who visit Aba often complain about the roads and how dirty the town is,they don't necessarily have to visit every part of Aba to draw such conclusion.

Aba is akin to Onisha, they are more popular than the state capital because of the presence of the market.

The past governor's didn't prioritize the image of Aba.

I have challenged people here on naira land for years

outside Lagos pick two other South West state for every road their governors did for the last 8 years I would post 2 done by Ikpeazu of Abia ...no body has taken up this challenge... Hope u won't run like them too

PH expressway pass through the periphery of Aba far away from the City. Look at Aba Owerri road that connects the city to PH expressway via osisioma.

Aba's biggest problem is their owners prefer 'developing' other people's properties than their own

Please, I am not here to thrash Aba. As I wrote in my post, I pray Otti does better and improves Aba and the whole state.

A Aba that is better than this is everybody's hope so there is no conflict here

Ariara market is not like a market... It's a mini city.... I remember always asking where is ariaria when I was already inside the market

That's here 95% of those who visit Aba visit and that's not even Aba

Is like judging port Harcourt by just coming to oil mill n go back

Enyi a, you are not talking to an outsider. I live in Aba. One side of Aba-ph has been done up to Ariaria junction. Refuse dump are present on the new lanes.

Refuse dump is also present at Faulks road.

Lol 🤣🤣🤣 I'm not defensive no body is harder than on igbo leaders than igbos no body we set super high standard for them

But when people like you who's region set no standard for their governors come to use our own standard to judge our governors.... It's absolutely unfair

If Ikpeazu did what he did in Abia in South West he would be a golden governor trust me
