I just remembered this now and thought to share. sometime in 2005, when I got my first asset. Was still leaving with my parents then ( 24yrs old) but I was also working. So I picked interest in sewing and really had passion for it then. With my own money I went and registered for the class. I now told my elder sister to take me to buy machine so I'll learn very fast.

My elder sister took me to idumota in Lagos island and with the money I saved from my salary, I got a brand new sewing machine for 8k lol.... It was like a huge achievement back then and my dad was even proud of me.. along the line the woman training us started slacking and because of my job I only went on weekends. The only time I got to go, she was not always available so I lost interest and stopped especially as I was planning to go back to school that year with exams and all that, I lost interest and faced my studies and job.

12 years down the line, I sold off the machine to a colleague who was a pro seamstress but didn't have a good machine for 20k . That was how that passion for sewing died. It's too stressful.

Now, I was just looking at a new asset I just got last week that shocked my twin (because I just told her casually that I was getting this thing and she was like hm, for this period wen things don cost and before she finished talking I got it) and I remembered my very first asset that also shocked her Plus other ones I acquired inbetween, i just smiled. Omo e don tay o. No wan man buy for me.

So, which asset did you acquire with your sweat that no guy got for you as a lady. No lie o .

8 plot of land property, that was 2014....I save the money when am still serving my oga, boyi boyi....my Igbo people will know what am talking about Sha...I later donate 3plot of land to build a catholic church...

The 5 plot is still there, not using it, not selling it, am ready to donate to any institution that will serve to the public interest....A vow I took after one or two consultation.

There is something spiritual attached to anyone first asset...I called it breaking of first barrier.....I thank God today, I have broke a lot of barrier and still breaking..

I'm not gonna lie, I'm a daddy's girl and so far, he's been doing almost everything for me.

The car that I'm driving was bought by him and the apartment that I live in is also being paid for by him because the old man is against the idea of me moving in with my fiance before marriage, he's afraid that we might never consider the idea of getting married anymore if we move in together...

But so far I've got a 9 to 4 job, and there's this other project that I'm working on on the side, I'm also a part time student studying a diploma in marketing management because my father wants all his children to have a business qualification, he wants all of us to one day be fully involved in the family business... If it wasn't because of that, I wouldn't be bothering myself... ... I'm also a law graduate and an aspiring advocate.

So far, I've got big plans for the future... But the way I like procrastinating, you'll think that I don't have a lot going on...😂😂😂

Give me 5 years and I'll come back to list all the assets that I'd have bought by then.

Daddy's girl hardly spend their own money. I was a daddy's girl too but I just like to be that independent girl that does things for herself without asking to everyone's admiration. Doesn't stop dad from doing stuff for me when he feels the need to though.

My Desktop Computer (Dell) Pentium 1, 133Ghz, 256Mb Ram, 20Gig Hard Drive. That was 2005, I bought for 5k then that serves as my computer classroom I even took it to school when I got admission into Unilag.

So many things that, can't even remember the first because everything I have today was bought with my hard-earned money.

a bmw mtec with alloy wills (only £30'000 cash) & I have moiney..... juss in case u ask! 😏

Hard-earned money? I can't remember. But my most priced possession, that I bought with my pocket money when I was young, was a dictionary. I think the 8th edition of the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary, and it came with a directional tape/CD on its use.

Goddddd, I was soooo overjoyed and I felt like a responsible adult. 😭😭😭😭😭


Add to that the fact that I love to 'read' words from the dictionary as if it was an editorial piece. And it made my reading novels easier too. I could readily look up words I come across that I didn't know.

Life has happened to some extent sha. I am not that dedicated (to scholastic activities) anymore, lmao. 😄

Oh.. that's the first thing I would have bought but after my computer program in 2001, I didn't have much money as I was still planning to get a job and go back to school. After I got a job and was working as a secretary, with free access to companys computer, I lost interest and channeled my savings to my new found interest, tailoring.

Maybe it didn't take a chunk off your savings then otherwise you would have remembered it for life . Anyways, good to know you at one time bought something of great value with your personal money.

I was lucky and landed a good job at the time and wanted to surprise my dad. It was a long time ago.
