This is the first time since 2008 dangote sugar is exceeding it's price. I bought around 50naira in 2008. Transcorp hasn't exceeded it's public offer price of 7.50naira
Just that the value is far less today. 50 naira of those days is worth over 200 naira today.

You're right but when you consider dividends and bonus issue(s), then it might just be an ''okay'' situation.

One day Transcorp go make us proud grin
With TE at helm of affairs, sadly may be longer than a short -mid term player will be willing to wait for. (Disclaimer: I am exposed for the long haul to both wings of the electric bird OTE$ and TE).
Maybe just maybe Flourmills will be willing to use Transcorp as a play for defunct Golden penny energy. Time will tell if na JIJO or reasonable play Flourmill dey do untop Transcorp matter.

Looking back at the 2006 PO of Dangote Sugar. The book value per share was roughly N2 and the PO was N18.

If one projects with this x9 price book value. DSR should be + N120 now.

Not a buy or sell recommendation.
Just a recall of the kind of premium Dangote Sugar fetched back in 2006 based on Book Value benchmark.

But I replied you since the time it was even selling below N4 nah! sad
Why asking if you can buy now knowing fully well no one controls the market and it can't be predicted most of the time?

Well, I think Transcorp still have more upward potentials, even if the buyback is taking out of it.
If you see to buy, buy some......with the mind to average down should it pullback......OR, wait for pullback..
I want to believe there'll always be pullbacks here and there along the line.

DD pls.
Thanks a lot

Nigerian stocks attained their peak level ever on Tuesday as the all-share index, which measures the overall performance of equities climbed 0.5 per cent to 66,490.3 basis points on the back of a series of market-friendly reforms helping Africa’s largest economy restore investor confidence to its markets

Tuesday’s feat pushes a high of 66,371.2 basis points, set more than 15 years ago on 5 March, 2008, to the back seat.

For the NSE ASI, resistance level of about 66k might likely become support, barring any major world shaking event. Kudos to all positive contributors in the house.

Congratulations. You have done well.
Would grow/have grown faster if you reinvest the dividends received.

I guess that was what he did, it works like magic.

He started well by investing to grow his portfolio, most of us made the mistake of going in and out of stocks when we started. I am also guilty of this

There are people who have been trading for 10 years who don't have his portfolio size.

By the time the guy spends 10 years on NGX he would have built a substantial portfolio and Investment income to supplement his salary

If the guy is a newbie, also let him know that this same portfolio can reduce by 50% in the stock market. He should understand the seasons Lol

Would be great if he was reinvesting. He started well.

I'm guilty of the in-and-out game too. I'm yet to fully implement the reinvest dividends strategy on my personal portfolio, but done on my child's. It's wonderful.

I got GTB @ N5.10 (IPO) but sold off all (including bonuses) long time ago. I did a projection of what it would have been now and it was mind-blowing.
Of course, some bad stock picks turned awful along the way.

A simple strategy of picking good dividend-paying stocks and reinvesting the dividends is a winner, in the long run.

50% Ko. "Investors" that bought WAPCO right issue at over N40 and same wapco dropped to N9 and yet to hit the rights issues price till date. I think similar scenario played out with FMN!

He is a newbie, he must have seen such reductions in the last 3 years when he started investing on NGX it is part of the long term compounding of his portfolio if he has rudimentary knowledge of stock and business valuation to understand if there was a cause for alarm or an opportunity to buy more

That is where the average cost price of your purchase comes in.

My average price for
Dangote Sugar is N19.44,
Lafarge Africa is N16.50k,
NAHCO is N7.60k,
Flour Mills is N18.00,
United Capital N6.20k it used to be less than N3.
Total Energy N210.

Imagine what my cost will be if I subtracted the dividends earned over the years from the average cost price of the stocks

Eg United Capital at an average cost price of N6.20k and the investor had earned a total dividend of N9 in the last 10 years.

The investor is like a tenant living in a house rent free and being paid for living in the house
